Mueller's Bakery in Bay Head, NJ has been my family's favorite bakery since I was a child. From gorgeous custom birthday cakes, cookies and brownies to fresh bread & rolls, crumb buns, crumb cake, donuts and delicious coffee, Mueller's has something for everyone! My families favorites; powdered jelly donuts, chocolate frosted brownies, sugar cookies, glazed & powdered sugar crumb cake, hot cross buns and pumpkin nut muffins. Nice to see the same employees after all these years and the staff is very happy & friendly. You can tell they love their jobs! Follow their Instagram for weekly specials, custom hours and lovely photos of their yummy baked goods! Ordering from out of state is easy, affordable and I've never had an issue with damaged goods. Friendly tip; their crumb cake freezes beautifully so don't be shy about grabbing an extra for the freezer, it'll defrost in no time if you leave it out on the counter. I was told about this place from my friend's live near here.he mentioned the crumb cake was to die for!!! I was visiting.& Took trip over. OMG- take a number it was insane in there..they are full bakery. The crumb cakes much thinner then ob-co's ..& typical coffee cake consistency..I only got one- blueberry. Well- it was actually really good- layer of blueberry compote then then crumb..& really good!! Far as to die for- NO- but very good!! Visited today and found everything to be subpar. The 7 layer cake was tasteless and dry. The crumb cake seemed stale, it's a yeasted cake that was dry and the crumbs were very hard with a very, very thick powdered sugar coating that had an artificial aftertaste. Boston cream donuts had an off, almost metallic, taste. Apple turnovers insipid, sadly everything we bought lacked flavor. We missed tasting butter, vanilla, and all things that make desserts special. We sampled many products and were hard pressed to find anything we really liked. Muellers has a very loyal following, sadly I cannot join the "club". I will say it was very clean with a lovely staff! read more

Been thinking about the best places to eat in Monmouth and Ocean County recently and any list without Mueller's is completely invalid. In my opinion at least. People (capital L) Love the crumbcake and it doesn't even make my top list for the best bakery around: the donuts are top notch, apple turnovers are a must, and the range of danishes are out of this world. My father in law from North Carolina insists on this as a stop to get their bear claws. Go early, go often - Bay Head's finest! read more

Delicious! This place came recommended by friends who I was staying the weekend with. Well worth it! The crumb cake has the perfect amount of crumbs on the top and the cake is nice and moist. Ordered a cake and cupcake arrangement for my parents' 50th anniversary party. Everything looked great and went smoothly with ordering and pick up. They worked with me to design the cake and cupcakes from my Pinterest pix. They loaned me the cupcake stand for $50 cash deposit. The cake was a special request - pineapple with coconut icing - and it was very moist and flavorful. Icing was not to my taste so much, but ok. Cupcakes were chocolate and vanilla, and unfortunately rather dry. I also have to mention when I went in to pick up the cakes I couldn't resist picking up a "pudding ring" which is their version of coffee cake. I got a blueberry pudding ring which was very good, then when I dropped off the cupcake tier I again couldn't resist picking up another one (cherry this time). So yum. On Bridge Avenue in Bayhead, Mueller's Bakery is a bustling bakery tucked between businesses in a blue building. You take a number and even during off peak times it is jamming with customers. Coffee cakes, pies, donuts , cookies big and small, danishes, special occasion cakes , brownies, etc etc in glass cases waiting for you to choose. Credit card orders available for $10 and over purchases. Tip jars for good service on the counters. The blueberry pudding cake was moist and delicious filled with blueberries and was a crowd pleaser. The danish ring with pecans was also tasty. The presentation was wonderful and made dessert a breeze. Will return for sure read more

This place makes some truly amazing pastries, that's for sure! We ordered a half sheet cake for my dad's birthday which everyone raved about how good it was. We got cannoli filling with whipped cream frosting which a marble cake. Everything paired perfectly together. Their black and white cookies were also very impressive as is the crumb cake. This place is worth the wait in line. One more note: when they call your number you better be ready, because they move through very quickly. read more

I'm very disappointed to be writing this review. I ordered 26 cupcakes for my son's birthday party this past weekend. The total for 26 cupcakes was an upwards of $70. I was told the cupcakes didn't have to be refrigerated when I got them and that should have been my first clue that something was off. I ordered them for pick up on Friday as the party was Saturday, but decided that for fresher cupcakes I would ask to pick them up Saturday morning. In my mind the cupcakes would be made the day of to ensure "freshness". When I called Thursday to let them know my change of day the person said and I quote, "The cupcakes are ready so pick them up Friday or Saturday it doesn't matter." I thought I must have misheard. When we got them on Saturday they were stale and dry. The icing on the vanilla cupcakes was greasy. The chocolate icing was the only thing I enjoyed about these $70 cupcakes. I won't be ordering from them again. read more

Do you like crumb cake? Like REALLY like crumb cake? The kinda crumb cake where the crumb to cake ratio definitely favors the buttery, sweet, crumb top? Then you need to go to Mueller's. They have a powdered sugar topped one or one with icing. Could you have a favorite? Sure - but I prefer not to make such a harsh, limiting decision and get a few of each to enjoy. The other desserts there are also incredible, and quite frankly, you just can't go wrong with your order. read more

We have been customers of Muellers for over 30 years. The last two seasons, things have become spotty. We have had 3 instances of stale crumb cake (their specialty). Also, the taste is not the same as it has always been. Recently, on two occasions, we bought layer cakes. They do not have the proper size boxes. The boxes they use are barely big enough to hold the cake. The result is that the side icing sticks to the box and ruins the appearance of the cake. Not looking forward to going back. Too bad because we always loved this place. We have heard similar complaints from others as well as from Yelp reviews. read more

Top notch bakery. Everything is delicious. I always go out of my way to stop here. I'm local but down the road a bit. Worth it every time, albeit very pricey. Worth waiting in line for in the summer as well. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because most of the staff are rude and have no personality. I just get a vibe that everyone there hates working there. Recently went to get a few things. No other customers were there and an older woman behind the counter seemed annoyed by my 2 year old son deciding what cookie he wanted. Give the staff a mood boost and it's 5 stars. read more

We have been going to this Jersey shore landmark, Mueller's Bakery for about 30 years and it continues to define old style bakery plain and simple. You go here for a delicious crumb cake, very nice danish or perhaps the best jelly donuts on the planet earth. Go early, like 6 AM to beat the long lines in the summer months or simply take a ticket and stand in line like everyone else. Either way the trip and wait are worth the investment. Good value pricing as well. read more

I first went here in 2020 during the summer, and people were waiting in a line that went out the door and down the street. Coming back in 2021, the lines and wait are shorter. Considering it's size, Mueller's Bakery has a considerable variety of pastries and desserts to choose from. The prices are moderate, leaning on the expensive side. The desserts are beautiful, but are somewhat lackluster in the flavor department. A great traditional bakery experience! read more

Their Magic Bars, Funfetti Bars, and Key Lime Bars are a hit. They have a selection of Gluten Free items. I've pre-ordered cheese cakes in the past and they are amazing. This place is a must try!

The walls have pictures of musicians and they were playing rock music over the speakers which fit the name and the vibe. I ordered the Ice Ice baby which a brownie with frosting and also the Not you Little Debbie (Gibson) oatmeal cookie crème pie. They were delicious. It was very good and very filling the peanut butter and chocolate were a perfect combo it really hit the spot. The store itself really keeps on brand with the walls having pictures of rockstars who had their desserts and some concert posters. The service is walk up and order with limited seating.
