This is my go-to bakery for special occasion cakes, among other treats. My twins were celebrating their 17th birthday and I called Saturday morning to see if they had any cakes available. Generally you need to pre order and I forgot to do that. Lucky for me they were making an order and could make an extra one for me. Leslie was so kind and helpful and I was thankful for the accommodation. Do yourself and them a favor next time you need a cake--give them a few days notice and you'll guarantee getting a cake. 6/2024: it's summer and back at the PP beach. Toni, the bakery owner, was so gracious and accommodating with us and replaced the strawberry pie from our Thanksgiving visit. She's hard working, and so sweet to offer us a key lime pie. Also, the crumbcake cheesecake (we discovered the delicious dessert at Atlantic Offshore FishRey & Restaurant over on Channel Dr., PP, NJ) and had to source the baker. It was ok. The food was ok. The prices were ok. The shop was small but ok. The service was ok in speed. The theme? It was just ok. ------ Update to business who replied: I am definitely talking about the one in Brick not in PA. I am in Ocean every weekend. Business owner replied saying "Can you help us out a bit? What food did you order? I didn't understand the "theme" comment....we're a bakery, not an amusement park..." I ordered the brownies and cookies. Your shop didn't have any price tags on them. During our Thanksgiving visit to shore on Wednesday, we made an impromptu stop to check the available to-go items Inside the door was a table of $20 pies. The glass case was mostly empty due to the pre orders from days ago. I was initially interested in a Key lime pie but was told they were gone and so, the strawberry sounded good and as I was ready to pay, the clerk happened to discover ONE key lime pie nearby. Two pies, $20/$25 each. The strawberry pie crust was under baked (see photo) and the inside filling 90% gelatin/ filling with scant amount of actual strawberries. Disappointed at that price. On the other hand, the key lime was so good, true lime flavor, tad bitter like we like it with the graham crust. And we'll definitely re-visit for other specialty goods. After tasting their Key Lime Pie at the Atlantic Offshore Fishery last month my wife was dreaming of the pie. What better way to treat my wife on Mother's Day than to travel south to Brick to visit the 502 Baking Company to pick up some treats? 502 Baking company has a small retail store in a nondescript shopping center along Brick Blvd. The famous Key Lime pie is sold as a Pie, mini pie and a bite size. I added a chocolate croissant, a piece of Apple Crumb cake and Tiramisu. I have to say the trip was well worth it, the treats did not disappoint. My wife and family were very happy. Everything was fresh and delicious as I expected, I might venture to say that their Tiramisu is the best I have had. I know they have a stand at the Brick Farmers Market, I hope they will consider coming to the Red Bank Farmers market as it will save me 20-30 minutes of drive time. Most amazing experience! This bakery scores the top rating of all local bakeries! Unmatched premium made from scratch top quality cakes that proverbially blow the competitors cakes out of the water! My parents' 60th Wedding Anniversary blowout party was a casualty of COVID. A small party of 20 guests could not be accommodated by the restaurant of their choice. My parents understood the situation but though they tried, they couldn't hide their disappointment that the party would need to be postponed a year. Backup plan? Go virtual... key component-- one of a kind cake delivered to the house by 502! Safe, secure, achievable! Placed the order by phone 3 weeks before the event. The lady who took my order was magnificent! Gracious and kind, she helped me select (based solely on the happy couples tastes) a lemon cake with dark-dark chocolate frosting. Because of the small gathering I selected a small round cake that serves 4-6... this was an excellent choice as I'd find out later... I relayed the address and informed her that my sister was sworn-in as "secret agent" in this regard so delivery should be made directly to her, for purposes of surprise preservation. The ordering process to include payment was fast and flawless. Day before delivery, the baker called me back and asked for some last minute clarifications! How cool is that?! I felt I was included in the entire process as they walked me through the baking and how they'd handle the delivery! What an amazing mission partner! The day before the virtual party, the cake was delivered exactly on time. My dad answered the door but the delivery agent refused to turn the cake over to anyone except my sister! Talk about "chain of custody"! The end result: a decadently rich, dense and explosively lemony cake that was not overly sweet but just perfect! No mix or supermarket or high production bakery garners this level of quality! Parents were so surprised and impressed.... oh yes and a final word on the size... because of the dense-ness, richness, and luxurious nature of the cake there was scarcely a dent made even after 4 hungry people went back for seconds (see photo). The 4-6 people that the cake was supposed to serve was an understatement... well maybe 4-6 football players... but this size can easily service 8-10 normal appetites. Service, quality, satisfaction... 5-stars! The hands down only choice if you're in the market for a one-of-a kind cake to celebrate a special event. And require delivery. We love this local bakery as everything that we get or order from them is terrific. Our latest "find" was their take on the Brooklyn Blackout Cake. Fabulous, tasty, and chocolately!! Couldn't have been easier with a quick message via Instagram to order. Had to add their awesome Sourdough bread as we went their regular version but also check out their Jalapeño Cheddar version! We read that they were selected top ten crumb cakes in NJ. We tried 3 kinds of crumb cake... plain, raspberry and cheese filled crumb. We were very excited and very disappointed after trying the crumb. The cheese filled was the better of the three but I still wouldn't say it was good or even crumb cake. The plain and raspberry were both hard and dry on the edges, slightly more moist on the inside when cut but still dry. It is a bummer. The scone was a maple cheddar bacon, We warmed that up in the microwave and it was very good and the reason for three stars. I went for crumb though and the crumb was a let down. Maybe you'll have better luck but I won't be going back. read more

Came here for the gluten free baked goodies! First of all, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable! I called ahead and they were able to list everything they had gluten free. The big hits for us were the cookies!!! Just delicious. Peanut butter cookies or with the Hershey drop just fantastic! The vanilla cake slice was good by the carrot cake really hit the spot. It was not dry. And cream cheese frosting was not sickening sweet! I would have given a 5 star rating but the scone was disappointing. I know gf scones are not easy to come by but this one was like a dry brick! The only thing that tasted ok was the actual blueberries! Overall, would come back again. They also said they can bake anything to order after the holidays GF except bread!! That is something I may take them up on! My Mother in law was turning 81 during a pandemic. We searched for a bakery near her to deliver a cake. In all of Tom's River we couldn't find one to deliver. Then I found 502 Baking in Brick. They were 15 miles away...but did offer delivery, so I sent them an email. I knew it was a long shot since they were so far away. Well, even though their delivery radius was 5 miles, Les (one of the owners) agreed to deliver a cake to her on her birthday. They took payment over the phone and even included a beautiful candle with the cake. Not only was the customer service of this bakery 5 stars...but the cake looked gorgeous. And according to my Mother in law, absolutely delicious. The delivery made her day! Les delivered it himself and even chatted with my Mother in law when he did....which also made her day. :) Thanks guys for helping us give her a nice birthday! This bakery has been open about 4 months. This is a small bakery but cute. Today they had cookies, cakes? Cupcakes, brownies, rolls and breads, and other pasteries. Everything looked really nice. They also have a separate case of gluten free baked goods. The gluten free items are baked elsewhere and are in sealed containers to ensure they are not contaminated by the bakery gluten. I tried two items - a huge chocolate chip cookie and a macaroon dipped in chocolate. Both items were very good and fresh. Both also looked really appetizing. Lived all over the country, but was born and raised here in Brick, NJ. Good food isnt hard to find, but GREAT food is. Look no further than 502 Baking company. They did my sisters cake for her wedding, along with many others delicious sweets (macaroons, cupcakes, butter cookies etc) and each one i tried made my trip here from Minnesota worth it. Their hard rolls are the best I have had in a long time. I took some on the plane back so I could enjoy an old fashioned Jersey shore breakfast of a butter roll and coffee, for the next week or two. I will shamelessly admit to eating, or sampling almost every type of pastry or cake they had to offer during my short visit here. Again, great food isn't easy to come by, so enjoy when you can. They had a great variety of treats that made me want to try them all....so I did! If you're driving by, give them a try. You'll be grdeted by some pretty amazing gals and guys behind the counter, who are attentive, very sweet and truly love the work they do. You can see how much pride they put into their work. I stopped in for the first time today and I was warmly greeted as soon as I entered. The gentleman was very friendly and nice. I bought an oatmeal Cookie and a blueberry muffin. The oatmeal cookie was not fresh and so hard you could hardly take a bite. The blueberry muffin tasted fresh and had nice blueberries baked in, but not too much flavor. If you are a new upcoming bakery you have to take a loss at the beginning and throw old products away!
