While they're good and have a nice amount of jelly, they're a little thick not a lot of chocolate, but they have a great taste . I had some last minute company drop by last week, so I used UberEats to get some cookies and a layer cake from Red Rose. I was a little disappointed. The cake I ordered was "vanilla fudge", and was described as vanilla cake with fudge frosting and fudge filling. What I got was a cake that was chocolate, with a very odd, almost watery, chocolate filling, and one thin (1/2") vanilla layer running through the middle, covered in chocolate ganache. It was OK. It wasn't what I was expecting, and it was a little dry. We ended up tossing maybe 2/3 of it after it sat in my refrigerator for four days. The cookies were described as "butter cookies". I was anticipating the usual bakery, butter cookies, with sprinkles, maybe dipped in chocolate on one end. What I received was a very odd assortment. There were cookies that were like soft snickerdoodles, there were other cookies that seem to be lthe same dough, but with pistachio flavoring added. There was a cookie that was two small, soft chocolate wafers with marshmallow cream in the middle, dipped in chocolate with chocolate chips all over them. They had two of the Italian rainbow cookies, those were very good. They were very welcome after the disappointment of the other cookies. And the last thing was a free item that I got because my purchase went over a certain amount, and that was a cannoli. It was made in a cannoli shell that was so heavily dipped in dark chocolate that the shell was soggy, and I could not tell what the filling tasted like. All in all, very disappointing. read more

First visit--disappointing. We got a vanilla cake with chocolate frosting. There was very little cake. The cake was basically all frosting, and the frosting was not very good. The inside layer cake was thin, and it didn't seem fresh. For $27, I would expect a better quality cake. I don't think that we will be returning to that bakery. read more

Walked in at 12:15pm. Everything looked beautiful! I was really hungry, and the crumb squares looked fantastic. I bought the blueberry cheese crumb and the plain crumb. Took them home (I live only 2 miles away) and could not wait to devour them! One bite of each... I could not even swallow them. SOOO STALE! Such a disappointment. Threw them both in the garbage. I am giving 2 stars because they really are a great bakery with quality goods. Today however I went in to place a simple custom cake order (vanilla with raspberry filling) and was told rudely that they were not taking orders for this week, and that I needed to give them at least a week notice. Must I add that I have been going here for years and I have never given a weeks notice, I usually pop in 4 days before an event and have no trouble. The young women who was helping me was extremely rude and told me "I can come and pick from the case of what is left from the week if I need cake on friday." Needless to say, unhappy with the customer service not with the goods. read more

Ordered a 10 inch cake for bday. It was decorated beautifully, they did exactly what we asked for. The inside was dry and nothing exciting to the palette unfortunately. I was sad. I was looking forward to eating the cake after reading the great reviews on here. When we came in person to put our cake order in, we decided to buy a variety of pastries from their display case. They were also beautiful looking but to no surprise they were dry inside too. I was hoping maybe they just left old ones in the display case, but i was wrong. Well I drove 45 minutes to get to this bakery and boy was it worth the ride - there cannoli's are one of the best ever - and I've tried many including Carlos bakery In Hoboken and Brooklyn shops too- the Italian cookie selection is on point and I loved them all- also had the cherry cheesecake and it was fabulous- also the service was friendly and very helpful- can't wait till my next trip- they are right up there with the best- read more

Went there on a whim back when they first opened for a Christmas cookie order, as our previous baker was a bit "meh". We haven't gone to another bakery since. We have tried their crumb cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cakes, tarts (crumbles), pies... I guess the whole nine yards. We have yet to find anything that we do not like. It also helps that their customer service is top notch (they now label all their goodies - but back when they didn't do that, the cashiers were always very helpful in explaining what all the different cookies were!). Having been born and raised in Brooklyn, NY I think I'm a pretty good judge of Italian pastry and cookies. My husband and I moved to central New Jersey 30 years ago and have not found one good Italian pastry shop where we live. Going on 3 years ago we bought a summer home in the Toms River area, and I've been trying different pastry shops . Some were good others were a definite no no. This week it was Red Rose Bakers turn for me to try. We bought a few Italian pastry, I have to say it was delicious! The closest thing to my favorite pastry shop in Brooklyn. I also bought one cupcake to try because usually cupcakes that are store bought are overly sweet, and not so moist. Let me tell you next time I go back I'll be trying a lot more of their selection. They were moist, not overly sweet, and very fresh! We will definitely be repeat customers! read more

I'm not reviewing the quality of their products. I have tried a few pastries and everything was fine and tasted fresh. So, I decided to try their custom cake for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and support a local business. Online ordering was simple and convenient. It said you can order up to 2 days in advance. I ordered 3 days in advance. It was only a small round cake, nothing grand or outrageous. I got an automatic confirmation email and it said someone would contact me asap to go over details. The next day I figured someone would call but by the late afternoon still no call. I called them as I wanted to make sure they got my order and if they had any questions or needed a deposit. No one answered so I left a message. About 15 minutes later I received a call and the girl told me that unfortunately they were unable to fulfill my order because they cut off orders early. I asked her why she hadn't called me first thing in the morning so that I could make other arrangements and she told me that this was the first time she saw my order! Well, she only saw my order because I left a message and then she looked it up. Otherwise, was no one going to call me until the last minute? Then it would have been too late to order a cake from anyone. I was so upset and fortunately I was able to call Wegmans who was able to fulfill my cake order and save the day. I will never order anything from this bakery again. I was so disappointed in their customer service and lack of courtesy. read more

After reading reviews I had to try it out since I was looking for a good bakery in the area. The girls behind the counter were friendly. I brought home a few things for my family to try. I did not bother with the donuts since they get them from another bakery and I know what they taste like. They even advertise they are from the donut shop. There hard rolls were good. Cupcakes were tasty and moist, although the frosting was just so so. Their black and white cookies were fresh and the cake part was good. The white frosting tasted great, but the chocolate was horrible, it was hard and you could tell it was made with cheap ingredients. Too bad they do not make a cookie just with the whit frosting. I tried some of their smaller fudge cookies and threw them out after just eating half of one, the cookie tasted stale and the chocolate tasted like the same stuff as the black and white cookie. I did not try any of their fancy brownies, but the normal one was good. I will go back to try some of their pastries and cakes and maybe try a cupcake with different frosting. read more
