My top go to purchase here is either the jelly donuts or a raspberry crisp pastry. Their raspberry jelly is incredible. My husband went today to get us a treat and I was so disappointed. He got us cupcakes one with raspberry filling and coconut flakes on top of buttercream. I thought ok cool I get the raspberry anyway. I got a hint of raspberry and a ton of funky tasting buttercream. It was not good at all. Will definitely not be getting this again. Aside from that it's asking about service which I must say is always great. Simona's bakery has a great selection of cookies and other desserts. I really enjoy their large selection of biscotti's and different flavors as well as they have two different types of rainbow cookies, one with a apricot jelly and one with what I think is a traditional raspberry jelly. They also have a selection of butter cookies which are really great if you're bringing a box of something somewhere. The last time I came in I tend to be indecisive with so many selections and the woman behind the counter was very kind and patient with me waffling on what I wanted to get and how much of it I wanted to get. She even happily wrapped up the box because I was bringing it over to my sister's house. The shop is small but it does have a lot of items and to be honest if it was much bigger, I don't know if it would change much outside of having space for people to sit down which seems outside their business model. This seems like a great place place to stop if you were going to someone's house and needed to take a box of something or if it was the holidays and you wanted to get some desserts to bring. There is also the occasional self-indulgence and I really enjoyed the rainbow cookies. read more

This was DELICIOUS!! People said the best cake they ever ate! It's 3 layered cake chocolate & vanilla with chocolate pudding and cannoli fillings, fresh whipped cream frosting. So fresh, creamy, moist and flavorful! They asked me to e-mail them a picture of ideas I had for decorating the flowers off to one side. So they had a visual to go by when decorating. Simona's Bakery is one of those places that you can drive by 10 times without noticing but once you go in you are glad you did. They have all sorts of items here. The cupcakes stand out as a go-to item here. They are massive too so be ready to eat. I didn't find them to be too great but I liked the dunkaroo one. They were a little too sweet for me. The chocolate chip cookies were pretty good. The apple turnovers are what I would order next time I go in. They also have chocolates and all sorts of things. The chocolate graham crackers were lovely too. The cakes didn't look great so I stuck with the cupcakes and other snacks. I like this place and would come back. Visited this place on our way to a friends dinner party. We were happy to find they were open because bakeries usually close early. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directing us to the goodies they had. I noticed a tip bottle & it had a list of very impressive schools! Kudos to them! Definitely happy to tip & support them. Great idea to list their amazing accomplishments! Store was very clean and had a lot of options. We wound up buying something for the party (a crumb cheese danish ring) that was a hit and absolutely delicious. We also wound up buying goodies for ourselves. My husband bought a coconut cream cupcake, my daughter and youngest son went with a variety of cookies, my middle guy what was the brownie and we both got about six macaroons. I thought the prices were very fair and that we walked out with a lot of great things to try and everything was very good. My middle guy actually asked when we are going back to try other things. Drove past here on my lunch break and saw the sign mentioning the bakery was featured on tv. Perhaps curiosity or was lured by the gimmicky claim, but either way, it drew me in. The treats in the cases seemed to have a lot of condensation on the icing which led me to think there was likely just as much moisture on the treats themselves. This led me to look only at what was in the refrigerated section. I was drawn to the macarons; I'm a sucker for fun flavors and great presentation. Unfortunately, a decent number of types had no label, and the employees didn't know the flavors either. Each macaron is $1.99 and there's no discount for buying more. In fact, buying 6 ends up being more ($11.99 vs $11.94 if they charged per macaron). Perhaps for the box? I tried not to let the concept bother me too much bc they're cheaper than anything you'll ever buy in/near the city. I also made a game-time decision to add an amaretti cookie. They unfortunately don't have plain ones, so I got the one topped w sugar crystals as the most plain one I could find. I will say that the cookie and macarons were very tasty and for the most part had the proper texture (one macaron was incredibly dry). Despite the yummy treats, the reasons I'm leaving 3 Stars are the deterrence from the majority of food bc of the moisture issue, employees that didn't know their product, pricing that didn't quite make sense, and also when my food was wrapped, the girl clearly had some sort of chocolate all over her fingers bc my box was covered in her chocolate fingerprints. I know that it's a bakery... but I would hope that when handling a customer's food, one would do it w cleaner hands than that.. still nice to have tried it out though. WOW! I'm so impressed with Simona's Bakery! They have the largest selection of cupcakes I've ever seen at any bakery ever! There must be like around 40 different kinds of cupcakes! They should put them in order chocolates together, pumpkins together, vanillas together, and so on. Another good idea is to have a menu of them to go available so when you go in you can request the ones you want instead of trying to read them all and wasting 40 minutes trying to figure out what ones you are going to buy. I've had the pumpkin cheesecake crumb cake from here, and it's FANTASTIC! Unfortunately, it's so good it sells out fast! I wanted to buy some more today, but they were already gone. You have buy yourself one, and thank me later! I've had the brownie cupcake, red velvet cupcake, pumpkin apple caramel cupcake, and the pumpkin cookie dough cupcake from here so far. All DELICIOUS! Simona makes the BEST pumpkin and red velvet cake I've had from a NJ bakery! I know pumpkin is seasonal, but it's so exceptional here I'd buy it all year round! The chocolate cakes I've found to be ok/good. The red velvet cupcake was also a TOP cupcake! It was OUTSTANDING that I highly recommend purchasing the red velvet cake here. I know I'll definitely be purchasing myself one. I also love how each cupcake is generously filled, and you can tell it's all high quality ingredients. The apple filling to the pumpkin apple caramel cupcake was amazing! I also purchased a chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream, and the peanut butter buttercream was delicious! At first I thought the cake wasn't that moist, but it was only because I cut myself a slice just after it came out of a refrigerated case. Once it reached room temperature after two hours it was very moist. They also have lots of beautiful cakes here for sale too. Another item I tried was the peanut butter brownie. The peanut butter layer was nice and creamy, but the brownie itself I found to be just ok. I like mine more chewy and fudge like. I'll give it another shot the next time I go. Stay away! Overcharge and UNDER DELIVER! Spent 30.00 on 1 lb of rainbow cookies and two black and white cookies. Rainbows were ok but black and white were dry as the Sahara desert! I dont mind paying a premium price but the product needs to represent the price and it DID NOT. Worst was I stopped back in to let them know and they just brushed me off! I went to Simona's Bakery in Sea Girt for a custom cake request for my sister's engagement party. I pass by them a lot and had purchased a few smaller things from them in the past. Long story short they created an incredible and stunning custom cake for me and if you are interested I suggest you proceed with working with them. The cake was stunning, delicious and affordable. Now for the detailed story - I reached out to them via email two weeks in advance letting them know what I was looking for in a custom cake. They were extremely prompt and emailed me back right away. They set up a time with me to come in and go over what I would like in person (I really appreciated this as it gave me more confidence in being able to talk through what I would like versus conducting it over email or phone). When I showed up at the shop the three women on site were incredibly sweet and informative. Two of them assisted me with my cake order. The third assisted me in picking out some sweets to bring home that day! They were extremely knowledgeable and gave great insight on what I may need. I showed them a few photos of cakes I liked and what I liked from each cake design. I asked if they could merge it into one cake. They had no problem with my detailed requests. I was kind of nervous as I am very particular in what I want, but the end results were amazing! I picked the cake up day of and the staff was great during pick up. My sister was so surprised and all of her guest's couldn't stop taking photos of it (some attached). They also wouldn't stop talking about how delicious it was (equally as important). Extra notes, the cost was very affordable especially for the quality of work! I plan on using them for all of my future cake needs. I decided to check this place out while in the area, based on some happy yelp reviews (thanks guys). This place had a huge selection of cupcakes, cookies, biscotti, you name it. My eyes caught the rainbow cookies so I snagged some of those. We also ordered a cannoli cupcake. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The cupcake was super moist and the cannoli cream was perfect. The rainbow cookies are cut big, moist, and very yummy. On my next visit to the area, I'd definitely come back! I look forward to trying the other cupcake and cookie selections. Staff was nice! That's always super important to me. I absolutely love this bakery! It's unassuming and set back slightly so it's pretty easy to miss. I first visited Simona's about a year ago. I was defiantly not expecting such a large selection of the freshest Italian cookies, pasties, whole cakes, cake slices (giant slabs), large cupcakes, breads, donuts. Oh, and then turn around and the front windows are jam packed with the most incredible things like my favorite...almond meringue cookies. Everywhere you turn there's more insanely delicious sweets. My bf sent my mom a recipe and my mom took it over to Simona's who said she could make it no problem. It was such a surprise and a highlight to the whole celebration!
