Just a little context: my boyfriend and I are driving halfway cross country, and are trying as much food as possible! We stopped here mid-day while driving because we've both been so interested in trying crawfish in a boil. First, the ambiance in this spot is so fun. It's clean, the staff is so welcoming and kind, and we loved the theme. Also, thank you so much to the woman behind the counter for giving amazing recommendations and also being so helpful when we had questions. (You're a rock star!) Even through the place was quite busy, everything came out perfect and timely. We ended up getting a peel shrimp and steamed crawfish plate and WOW. We finished both, down to the last potato pretty quickly. This wasn't because the portions were lacking, the plates were HUGE. It was honestly just one of the best plates we have had on our trip. We are hopefully taking the same route back and will be popping in on our way back to denver. Thank YOU!

Don't let the name fool you. I received several referrals to this place and was pleased with variety of fresh seafood options. The counter space is shared with a display of seafood on ice, and options for fried or steamed meals on signage above. I was thoroughly impressed with the display of Dungeness crabs, snow crabs, shrimp and crawfish. I chose a fried platter, because oysters were not offered on the steamed options and I was at lunch and didn't want to have to deal with the mess of crab legs. The oyster/crab claws were the perfect selection, and added a side of sautéed mushrooms. Various seasonings were available to add to the meal and selected a garlic butter to go along with the Cajun seasoning that was part of the meal. I was pleased with my selections, but did need to add hot sauce to get just a bit more flavor. The mushrooms in a buttery garlic sauce stole the day! I truly enjoyed them and when we turn solely for them. Also enjoy the decor and general ambience of the place. Ample parking was available when I came around 2:30, but was told that they just had a very large lunch crowd, so plan accordingly for your visit .

Tried this gem today, this is a staple for the area. I had the fried fish and crab claws. The service was very good. And it was a decent wait. The music that was playing was very nice and not too loud. The drinks were good too. Overall the food was good, and hot! Everything is cooked fresh and they call you when the food is ready. The place was clean as well. I think I'll be going back before my trip is over.

Wow, this place is amazing. First of all the customer service from all three women that we talked to was perfect. When I asked the ladies name that helped us we were told everyone calls her Mama. She was so nice and helpful. Since we have never been here she helped guide us with the menu. She said the 3 pound box of crawfish would be enough for my son. It comes with potatoes, corn and sausage. My hubby ordered a shrimp Po Boy and they were nice enough to steam tilapia for me. Janie was cleaning up the dining room and gave a cute pose. The lady that gave us our order to go made sure to give us everything we needed since we were going to a hotel. She was great. The food was outstanding and if we visited the area we would definitely return.

Came in for crawfish, left with the 10 lb combo box that includes crawfish, potatoes, corn, and sausage links. Everything was beyond amazing. Spicy, but not that 'burn your lips off and need chapstick ASAP' spicy. Nah, this is the good spicy. Everything was cooked to perfection. Wait time was about 15 minutes, which was worth it. As for the facility: They have everything organized so well. Roped off line area guides you to the menu and then to the register to order and pay, and everything flows seamlessly. They have a small waiting area where several benches are spaced accordingly for social distancing while you wait for your food to cook. They also have a dine-in area, but I got our food to go, so I didn't venture into that part of the building. Staff was all wearing masks. I can't wait to get more. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I absolutely would.

the last time i came to this location was 8 years ago when my oldest son got food poisoning from here well i see why i havent been back the chicken wings i got for my young son was drenched in barbque sauce...the fish was cooked ok but the shrimps had so much breading when i took some of the bread off the shrimps were so tiny wow...for the 28 dollars i spent i could have went to the boiling pot. i will be a longggggggggggggggggggggggggg time before i eat here again read more

This place is definitely 5 stars! Clean restaurant and fish market in one. You don't need utensils, just napkins and there are plenty! You walk in smelling the crawfish boil. Yum! For $15 you get 3 pounds of huge crawfish with sausage, potatoes and corn. Don't pass this one by! read more

I tried this based on yelp reviews. They have a long bar of iced seafood to choose from. You have option of steamed or fried. Well you can't or at least oysters weren't on the steamed menu so I opted for fried along with some fried shrimp. It's been a long time since I've had that much fried. The shrimp and oysters were very good even fried. The sides - fried okra and some fries, both were not good but the hush puppies were excellent. People were friendly- it's not really set up for service. read more

First time here because of all the amazing reviews. We were extremely disappointed. We ordered online and it said that it will be ready in 30 minutes. We got there in 45 mins after ordering and it still wasn't ready. Had to wait an extra 15 mins so it took them an hour to get our order ready. When we got it, we put it in a styrofoam cooler that we had in the car immediately only to find it had leaked heavily with their poor packaging. Luckily we had a styrofoam container, if we didn't, it would've been all over the car. When we got home to eat it, the bag had almost 2lbs of liquid in it so we basically paid for less than 9lbs of crawfish plus our two garlic butter was missing. It was way too salty, some were mushy, and some had dirt in them. Will never be back, there are way too many other crawfish places around here. read more

As soon as we saw the outside of this place I thought it might MAYBE be overhyped. Then going inside and seeing the handrails ready for very long lines - yup, perhaps touristy, definitely hyped hard! So here goes... We ordered the 4 fish dinner with crab claws, shrimps, oysters, and fish (all fried) along with the gumbo and 2 pounds of crawfish. The gumbo was very good. Not too spicy. The crawfish was also very good. If you've never had crawfish, just think of a tiny lobster. All the fried food, while a touch similar, was very good and the breading was actually tasty, not just there. All in all, it's well worth a visit, but the food isn't night and day better than other seafood places in the area and it's definitely not inexpensive. Beware that there could be a wait of 15-30 minutes for your order to be prepared, so with a long line, you could be there a while. Also, we visited at 4 PM on a Saturday, so while it was steady, it wasn't busy. The fish we ordered was catfish but I'm pretty sure we got flounder. We got fries instead of the okra we ordered. We didn't get our drinks. And a number of the shrimps (both fried and in the gumbo) were not completely shelled as we spit out some shell and tail a few times. This tells me that popularity and volume means more than quality and accuracy. It's unfortunate since the latter is far more important to me, if not to them. read more

When you order two lbs of shirmp you dont realize the size of the meal. After a struggle I was able to finish my meal. The shrimp was cook correctly and was the side potatoes and corn. Very good food. read more

If you want a good fresh seafood or crawfish fix look no further. The customer service is great and the place is super clean. Now on to the food. I had the 3# crawfish box and it was stellar. I opted for the spicy, my dad got the XXspicy and I still don't think he can feel his lips. My wife had the flounder and shrimp with a bowl of gumbo. She will be coming back since flounder is her favorite and the gumbo was point. Come early or order it to go because when they open it's on! I will make a return trip to try their shrimp next time. Don't pass this place by if you see it, make sure you stop cause you will be coming again!!!! read more

This one of the best spots in Mobile to get seafood. The service is really fast. They have awesome daiquiris(non alcoholic). The food choice is outstanding. The amount is always enough for two. This place has some of the best Royal Reds I've ever tasted. Juicy, sweet, well portioned and perfectly seasoned. The only issue that I had was the seemingly unorganized service of the cashier and the wait. But other than that, I have most definitely have found my new fresh market seafood spot. Woman at the front counter was so helpful! This was our first visit and she walked me, my husband, and four kids quickly through the menu. She also showed our kids some of the whole fish they had on ice. The food was delicious, gumbo was very tasty as well. The shrimp and fish was fried perfectly but my crab legs and potatoes were absolutely drenched in butter - melted butter and oil was just sitting in the bottom of the container. I didn't care for the amount of butter but .... it was very delicious!!! Casual enough to move tables around to fit our big crew. They had kool-aid for the kids, too. Great menu, great food, fun and colorful atmosphere. Would recommend for sure! read more

For seafood, this is the best value in Mobile! The place is always crowded for a reason. I have heard people complaining about the wait time, but in all honesty it isn't that bad. I don't mind waiting for freshly cooked food. My wife and I laughed when we saw the portion sizes. They give you a lot of food for what you pay and it's not just a lot of french fries. The food has always been cooked just right, and perfectly seasoned. The restaurant is always clean with a nice atmosphere. The staff are fast paced but very friendly. read more

These people put onions in their pan seafood platters! It was $130 for 2 of them. I just never seen such a thing in my life. All my life eating seafood & I've never seen it. Being able to get an assortment of fresh seafood steamed right on the premises is amazing,the food was excellent and the staff very friendly!!My husband got the shrimp and oyster platter,which consisted of jumbo shrimp,almost a dozen of them and huge size oysters,he couldn't finish it,I got a lobster tail,2 Alaska crab clusters and jumbo shrimps!!I overindulged but how often do we get to eat that good and fresh seafood? I live really close to this seafood restaurant and shop but I will never go again. Paying $2 per pound to steam and another $2 per pound to de-head shrimp is more than the going price per pound at the beach. After paying $40 for shrimp, I get home to peel them and 90% of them are over cooked and impossible to peel. You would think a restaurant that has been in business this long would know how to cook shrimp. Yes this is the right restaurant. At the bottom of your "steamed" dinners it mentions a cost to de-head. read more

We stopped here as part of a road trip back to South FL from Texas. My son and I were craving crawfish after a great experience in Mississippi and this place did not disappoint. It was a pretty charming place, when you walk in there is really friendly and knowledgable staff that walk you through all of the fresh seafood sitting in front of your eyes to pick out and they take it straight back to cook. We did the Boiled Crawfish (Cajun), Crab Claws (my fave) and steamed shrimp that were super large and delicious for a very very reasonable price. I will definitely repeat if I find myself anywhere close (we went 20 minutes out of the way this time) read more

This is as good as it gets for take home crawfish during the season. They do have a section for dine in however with the long lines it is very loud and spicy crawfish normally require a few beverages and who wants to leave their meal to stand in line for another drink. I've also ordered them live for home boils and you can't beat the prices for our area. read more

This place has some of the best carry out seafood in the city. It is a must do for travelers to the area. It is not fancy but you can eat in as well. If you're just looking for a Cajun boil with out the work...this is your place. If you have never had neck bones in your Cajun boil this is your place. Im not big on the fried food but I love seafood so I get Snow crabs, shrimp, CRAWFISH, sausage, neckbones, corn and potatoes and Im looking in the windows of heaven!!!! Note: If you aren't really good with spicy food be careful of the MUDBUGs they have quite the kick. You can always man up and have a few cold ones on hand. read more

The pepperoni was cooked crisp and wasn't overly greasy and the sausage had a great, robust flavor that was the star of the show. This is everything I love about a great pizza, and it's local, so that's just one more praise to sing about it! I paired it with a bottle of Coke, which absolutely was perfect with this pizza. Is it Racism or Ignorance? Mudbugs Dauphin Island Parkway Cajun Seafood Inc., 2005 Government St. Mobile, Al., 36606 251-478-9897 I entered Mudbugs today telling my husband now great their food was. When I got inside the Loop establishment there was another lady in there. We were both fairly new to Mudbugs. I told her I lived in west Mobile and she said she lived off Grelot Rd in West Mobile also. I got to the counter ordered my food and I noticed a black lady maybe a group of three were escorted out by a white male maybe in his mid to late twenties telling them to get out of the store. I heard one lady said she was involved and he put her out also. I did not pay much attention to it at the time. The girl who later took my order tried to enlighten me on what happened and I told her I did not want to know. Little did I know, I would be next target? I went ahead placed my order. I placed my order according to the receipt at 3:55 pm. I waited about 20 minutes I approached the counter after watching a lot of people come and go that had entered the establishment much later than I. I asked the guy about my order. One black on the counter said you got your order. I said no I did not get my order. He said let me see your receipt, and I gave it to me. I had another receipt that was in my purse also. Another cook a different black guy came from the back and said you had a large order. It will take a while to steam crawfish and I said I did not order craw fish. Then a white guy with the same yellow shirt that had been rude to the black lady and escorted her out earlier approached me with an order of food. I opened the order and said I ordered extra onions and 2 extra corns. Can I please have it and he said very rudely you should have looked at your ticket when you ordered. I said I am new here. I showed him my ticket with the 2 corns on the ticket and he said give her back her money in an ugly-nasty tone. I said sir I just want the corn I paid for and he replied you are getting out. He then said go get your credit card. I said Ms. to the short - stocky middle age, white female in glasses Maam I only want what I paid to have, and she said you are getting a refund. I was in shock. I told the white guy in the yellow shirt I pray to God for your Soul because you are so lost. And then he said go outside and talk to God. I then looked over at a black male. I had spoken to him briefly while waiting on my order. He told me that he had ordered some fried shrimp and fish. He said he got the lunch special. I said wow; I did not know they had a lunch special. He said yes they do. Well this black man was standing at the counter while this was going on and witnesses everything. He (the black male) interjected she just wants what she ordered. I then asked him his name. I got a pen to write it down because it was so surreal I could not detect whether the people were Anti God, Racist, Ignorant or all of those things. Fast forward to the white guy in the yellow shirt he was refunding me my money and I asked the black man for his name and number because I was going to report it to the owner, and the white stocky female said, aint no sense in askin fur a name I am the owner and nuthin gon happen. I am trying as best I can to repeat her words in the way she spoke them. I left the store. Told my husband God sent me in that place for a reason today and it was not to buy steamed seafood. It was to report the incidents that happen in Mudbugs at the Loop today. Surely it must have happened many times before. I am a business owner and I have to say that was the worst I have seen in my entire life for customer service. If this story airs the convictions material were the people in the store. I love this place, the food is the best and the owners and staff rock. We have ordered take-out many times and whether you get the boiled or fried seafood platter they pack them full, no skimping and it is the best seafood in town. We have eaten in the dining area, as well as taking out of town company there, and we always have a pleasant experience. These people go out of their way to make sure your experience is pleasant and if you order take-out, you can be assured your order is right. I am a eight year customer and you can bet that if they were closer to my house, I would be eating there more often. Give them a try, you will never be disappointed! read more

Do yourself a favor and read the one and two star reviews, on this site and others, before you go in this place. Naaasty!! and the owner is beyond rude, to her employees and some customers. Yet is polite to others. It's bizarre, like she has a mental illness or mood disorder. Up and down. Nice to one person in line, rude to the next, then nice, then back to rude again. I wondered which version of her I would get when it was my turn. (RUDE!)There are cleaner places with better food and owners that are sane. read more

You know the first couple of times were great experiences but my last two encounter has been less than stellar. I ordered over. $275 and wanted some guidance from the owner and got nothing, no assistance at all. This last time wanted our product in one container and it was told that way to the cashier and it came out in 4 plates and it cost us 2.75 more to be produces the way we requested! Not friendly! The seafood was very fresh, prepared and served quickly, seasoned to perfection (and we got our onion). Plus they use conecah sausage which is local and is a really nice touch.
