Place was extremely clean! Smelled like bleached oppose your the fishy seafood market. We did the combo 5 which had the shrimp, snow crab and sausage. This place has a split personality-the fried seafood was below average, overcooked and just not very good. The boiled crawfish, on the other hand, might have been the best I've EVER had. They were perfect, tender and flavorful. The gumbo had lots of seafood-a big plus-but the roux was some kind of tomato base as if it was out of a Campbell's soup can. We were expecting guests from out of town and they wanted snapper. My usual place didn't have that, so I ended up at Mudbugs. Wow! This place has a huge selection of fresh seafood! Some of the fish were already filleted, but most of them were whole. It's all laid out on ice and you just pick what you want. The fish I wanted was whole fish, so they filleted it for me while I waited. I asked the guy how fresh the fish was and he told me they picked it up off of yesterday's boats. It doesn't get much more fresh than that! I ordered 3 red snapper, a speckled trout, and 2 1/2 pounds of royal reds. The total came to over $90. That seems a little high, but it was a lot more fish than expected. We had enough to feed 6 people, and enough left over to make fish tacos the next night. I'm still loyal to my usual place, but when I want a particular kind of fish or shrimp, or when we're having guests, this is my new go-to place. read more

Stopped by this place at the recommendation of a family friend because they said the crawfish were better than where we had been going and I have to admit that they definitely were! Visited about 4:30 in the afternoon and at first wasn't too crowded but gradually they started getting more and more crowded, found out they close at 7:30 which is a bit early down here. Got their 10# special which is 10 pounds of crawfish, 5 ears of corn, 1 pound of potatoes, and 1 pound of sausage which was more than enough for my immediate family and some of my extended family. Food is great, delicious, popping hot, but since they are so popular you have to get there early! Also if you are not into crawfish, they have pretty much every other kind of seafood plus chicken if you have a picky eater in your party. Will definitely be coming back on the next trip. read more

Will be back for this but on to the food review. I ordered the 3 selection dinner and chose shrimp, fish and oysters . Oysters were the best of the three. Second was the fried founder. And coming in last was the fired shrimp. The portion was humongous and could have been slit between two people. At $25.99 seemed steep but to split it would be a great value. Was let down on the fried shrimp, Small and un-cleaned. This was the reason for 3 stars. Next time I will try their steamed selections. The prices are higher than my usual go to at The Seafood Shop but will try them anyways. They offer a speedy take out, they are well organized, clean and staff was super friendly, hard working and very helpful. Staff gets 5 stars hands down. This place is huge! Great selection of seafood - we ordered their Gumbo and Oysters/Shrimp lunch plate. The gumbo was very good, not spicy so I added hot sauce. Tried & loved their fried okra, hush puppy & oysters on my friend's lunch plate! (I didn't eat the shrimp because they were not deveined). There was more than enough food in the box for both of us. I'm a crawfish lover and I have always loved this place so i was shocked by how gross my food was the other day. I spent $85 on crawfish and 2lbs of Dungeness Crabs that I barely touched. My crawfish were extremely hard and the tails were really discolored. It looked as if they may have been frozen. When i finally got them peeled and tried to pull the tail out I also noticed that they were dry, rubbery and super hard to pull out. So after all that disappointment I'm just hopeful that the flavor would be amazing. Well the crawfish were disgusting so they all went to waste. I was aggravated at this point so then i decide I'll try my Dungeness crabs and maybe those will make up for my huge disappointment and money i spent. Man was I wrong! My crabs taste very bland and without any seasoning at all. I feel like I threw away $85 on food that never got eaten and then had to spend more money going out to find some decent food to fill me up. I don't know if I'll be returning due to a total was of time ( i live 45 minutes away) ( the wait in line) and money on food that's inconsistent. read more

Gumbo. Not perfect, but best I've found besides homemade. No skimping on ingredients, including the Tobacco.

We had not been here before and didn't realize how long it would take to get our food. Although there are tables, most people order carry out. When you enter, everyone (dine in and carry out) goes into the huge line to your left. The line took some time itself to get to one of the three registers. From the moment we entered the building until they gave us the two meals we had ordered was an hour. It was packed, so most of that hour was spent standing. There are no fountain drinks, just bottles that come with the food so you are waiting for an hour without a drink as well. Now that being said, the food was delicious. Two adults split the $22 special that came with 2 lbs shrimp, sausage, onion, and 2 small corn halves. It was plenty for two people. The chicken dinner fed two kids with fries to spare. The crab balls were just ok, my least favorite thing, but the hush puppies were good. The crab legs were also good, and the poboys are huge. Given how good the food was, we may return. It really depends on if we can call and order ahead because the wait time is just too long. read more
