My mom and I came to the Lake Forest Park Mud Bay a few weeks ago to get a new name tag and collar for Thunder the Leonberger. We like to have collars at each place he stays so that the phone numbers are relevant and reach the person he is staying with in the case he gets lost. Hand sanitizing was required when one entered the store and a small sanitizing station was provided to make the process easy. Face masks were also required. The store is beautiful and it is easy to walk the aisles/display areas and see what they have available for sale. I found a few things that I am keeping on the back-burner for potential presents for pet owners when the time is right. Taking and having the tag made custom engraved didn't take long at all and all of the workers we interacted with were friendly and knowledgable. They even provided some insight on an adjacent business, Great Harvest Bread, that we found very helpful. All around enjoyable shopping experience. read more

My friend brought me here because she said that they have some unique and great cat toys. She was right. I was able to find a few cat toys that I thought my cats would be impressed with....turned out they weren't...but that's beside the point. (My cats rather bat my water bottle caps off the kitchen counter and then under stove. Then they whine and want me to get it out...listen kitty-mom is busy making money so you can live the lifestyle that you have grown accustom to....) Mud Bay sell higher quality pet food such as Weruva, Orijen, B.F.F. and Avoderm. I saw lots of grain-free and raw diet stuff if you're doing that with your pets. (I tried raw diet with my cats for a couple of years but it was just way too much work. Plus they wouldn't eat it half of it time....spoiled brats....don't they know there are starving kitties in Africa that would love to trade places with them?) There were couple of sales associates that were super friendly and very well informed about the products that they sold. (They helped me look at the ash and magnesium level for some of the dry food brands even though I wasn't going to buy any. I was just in the area for a couple days and would be flying out. Kinda heavy to be lugging a 18 Lb. bag of pet food in your check in... ) Anyway very nice people that work here and really clean too. Thanks guys for a great experience. Next time I'm in the area. Nothing to complain about here. Clean, organized, aesthetically-appealing store that has a great selection of the must-haves for cats and dogs, as well as some fun, unusual, quirky cat toys. My cat only has approximately 75 toys, so he obviously needs a few new ones. :) It kind of made my day to see the gorgeous King Charles Spaniel on its leash inside the Lake Forest Park Town Center Mud Bay store, and to talk to the delightful cashier about her alpha rat. (Yes, alpha rat. No, I had no idea, either. :) ) I apologize for the terrible photo quality of my pics attached to this review. My android tablet has somewhat poor photo quality and that combined with my kitty's rapidity in chasing his toy rendered my pics a bit sub-par. This location is amazing!! I recently adopted/rescued both a puppy and a kitten and this store has been essential in welcoming them i to my home. Im a big fan of establishing infrastructure and this store has provided everything I need! And the return policy is incredible! The staff is knowledgeable, informative, considerate, and professional. Dog Stuff... all over the place... it's like a Whole Foods for your pet, except at reasonable prices, GASP! First off, this review is coming from a NON-Pet Owner. You heard me, I have no little animals running my house, and however, most of my friends do, and to make nice with any pet owner, is to make nice with their pet. I have been coming here for what seems like forever, when it comes to purchasing treats and other knick-knacks for my fellow animal. I know loves comes from the stomach, for humans, and pets alike, and here they have a large selection of food items, for any flavor of animal; mostly in my case, dogs. Everything here, from what I can tell, is healthy and good for animals. I have been to other pet shops, and this place trumps others by the selection quality snacks. How do I know? I need not have to fight for affection, when pets who know me, run up to me, avoiding other people, whom they could have easily trounced one. That means WINNING, as Charlie Sheen would say. I own no animals, but the people here, are more than willing to show me what to buy, what is great for whatever breed of animal my friend's own, and in the end, I always end up with something that is perfect for the human... Love Mud Bay! The staff here is always friendly and they have great recommendations. My dog loves the cod skin treats! We buy one (about a foot long) for 95 cents and I break it up for him to eat throughout the week. While there's another local chain I tend to go to for pet supplies, this is the closest pet store to home that carries the brand of food that Flash eats and they're hours are also a little more convenient if I'm running a bit late into the evening with my errands. The staff is always friendly, always attentive, always friendly, and they always have exactly what I need. The layout of this location is about the best I have seen from Mud Bay with lots of space and clearly designated areas for dogs, cats, and other pets. The location is tucked nicely into the Lake Forest Park shopping center which has lots of other shops and restaurants making it sort of a neighborhood hub and gathering place. There is so much parking available, I don't know if you would ever have a problem finding a space when needed. read more

Great staff and service! I finally caved in and stopped by the store and as soon as you walk in, the staff was super friendly! I was just looking around, bought some toys for my fur baby and also wanted to look into canned food. I was definitely overwhelmed with the different types of canned food they had for cats so I had no clue where to start. The staff was kind enough to explain to me all the different types and things my cat would possibly like. They also offer free small trials of the canned food so that you don't have to worry about purchasing it and having your fur baby not like it at all which was super helpful. I came back a week later and bought the full size cans - It was nice to know I could do that in the future. I will definitely be coming back for goodies and more for my cats necessities. read more

Just a quick rave for these guys. I was in the area for other reasons and decided to stop by impromptu while returning books to the LFP library. I told a couple associates how I'd had an issue with the last dog toy I purchased from their company and was hoping I could possibly get a discount on a replacement, and they went above and beyond to take care of me. I hate to write this kind of review, but I feel compelled to share. I went into this Mud Bay less than a week ago looking for a raw food I had researched for my sick kitty. There were two staff at the register talking with each other. I was obviously wandering around the store looking for something and they paid no attention to me. Yes, I could've asked for help, but it wasn't like they were busy. I went back today to pick up some more of the cat food. There were three staff at the counter talking with three similarly aged people (friends?). It sounded like a social conversation. Again they paid no attention to me and I bet I could've walked out with the food in my hand without being noticed. One person broke away from the conversation long enough to take my money. There are plenty of Mud Bay's in Seattle so I'll recommend to friends and family to avoid the Lake Forest Park store and go to another one. If you're going to spend top dollar for food and supplies for your pet, the staff should at least respect you enough to appear happy that you chose their store. read more

This is one of the few stores I go to, to pick up grain-free food and snacks for our dog and cats. the people here are friendly and helpful, but they leave you alone to just shop which is nice. They always great my little guy with a treat, and try again before we leave because he's a shy eater. Hah. They keep the place very clean, which is great when you have a dog with you. There are a few bigger pet stores (*cough* Petco *cough*), that are not as clean, and then you have dogs like mine trying to mark everything. Mudbay has a wide variety or foods, snacks, kitty litter (and how!), toys, and other pet supplies. I would say the price is average to pricey, but so are most smaller pet supply stores. It's worth repeating that they have a huge supply of dog and cat food. Huge. Whatever needs you are trying to fulfill, that place will very likely have something for you. read more

I've been to both this location and the Cap Hill one, and had stellar experiences at both. I came here for the first time today after my vet (for various reasons) suggested weaning my cats off dry food. The gentleman behind the counter offered me help right away and was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and personable. I also especially appreciated knowing that he was speaking from experience as a fellow cat owner rather than someone with indirect experience. Ultimately he sent me off with several cans of wet food to try out with the reassurance that if none of those worked out I could come back to try out a couple more. I'm so glad I have such a quality establishment down the hill from my house- it's so great when you've got both convenience and quality without having to sacrifice one or the other. read more

When I first got my dog I assumed I would shop for his stuff at Petco or Petsmart because big box stores usually offer cheaper prices and I am all about a deal. However, we tried our local Mud Bay because we thought they might have some fun and unique treats or toys. The small and local store surprised me and turned me into a frequent customer. They are my go to for all things dog. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. They are full of great tips and never feel like they are trying to up-sell me. The prices are very competitive. I think they are even a little cheaper than Petco on dry food. Finally, despite being a small store, they have a great selection of dog stuff. They lack the fish, lizard and small mammal stuff that Petco has, so if you need that stuff this store isn't for you. However, if you have a dog or cat they have everything you could need. read more

Yesterday I went to Mud Bay for the first time. I was almost immediately asked if I needed any help, which I most definitely did. I told the salesclerk, who was very open and friendly, that I was looking for a good canned food for my female cat who is considered underweight. We feed her all day, every day but she doesn't seem to be gaining any more weight (and it's not worms, we de wormed her). The salesclerk immediately suggested Evo, considering it is one of the foods with the most fat and protein content. I told her I would buy a can and come back if she likes it. She responded back by asking if It was alright to give me some samples, free of charge. I couldn't believe it! She gave me 3 regular sized cans, each one a different flavor, for free! I came back today to buy more Evo. My queen loves the food, and the service here is fantastic. They greet you, and I'm sure if I brought a pet in here we would both feel at home. read more

I love coming here! The staff is always so friendly and genuinely care about the needs of your pet. Last time I went there I wanted to try some new foods for my cat. They spent a lot of time talking about the differences between the brands and helped me find something within my budget but still great quality. I got a couple of samples of the new foods to try (didn't even ask!) and several cans of what I normally buy. I went to another pet store right before them and I felt they were just trying to push the most expensive brand they could on me. I didn't have that issue here. Very pretty store; almost too pretty. I was mortified by my dog tearing around sniffing and snuffling at every little thing, knocking things over and licking the floor. The one staff person noted simply stood quietly behind the counter, awaiting any comments or questions. She appeared to be almost meditating and I hated to interrupt. Great selection, but I still like Pet Pros on Lake City better. They have a more-extensive selection of chewy treats for my pooch, who requires oral entertainment in order to not drive me bat-feces. This review is for the girl and guy working Tuesday that helped me find cool toys for my dog. He was at the vet being neutered and I was so worried! They were awesome at comforting me and finding the perfect toy to substitute his ball temporarily. The girl put a tennis ball in a big rubber ball structure. Sebastian loves it! I came in here just browsing for dog supplies for my daughters dog, since he is a resident in our home now too. He is a special needs dog, being allergic to Wheat and Chicken. They have some great bulk treats that are gluten and chicken free, in fact, they are vegetarian. I bought him a squeaky toy that he loves and some sample of the bulk treats to see if he liked any. Of course the squeaky toy was an instant hint. I have no idea which of the bulk treats he likes best since he can't talk and hasn't even balked at eating any of them. I will definitely return. Why only 4 stars? Well, none of the staff had ever been to Mud Bay. Come on, Mud Bay - Take your staff to that first store and take them just down the street to Shipwreck Cafe and let them see the REAL Mud Bay!! read more

Awesome pet store at the Lake Forest Park shopping center. It's larger and generally more spacious than the Mud Bay at UVillage, giving your pet room to run through the isles to his/her favorite treats. They have a large selection of healthy pet foods as well as treats, beds, leashes etc. The staff is very friendly and educated. They know the products and there's always someone available to help out when you have questions. And yes, if the owner approves, your pet will get a treat. read more

Absolutely amazing! We just got a new rescue dog, and had basically zero information on him. This included his eating habits and tastes. We've been in the store the last three days because of it. Let me start by saying that the staff is incredible! I've had big dogs all my life, and this was the first small dog I've had. The staff is incredibly knowledgable and so kind. They really helped me find something new for him to eat. Plus their return policy is the best! Our dog wound up not liking the first food we got him, and the staff went above and beyond to help with my exchange. We switched out the bag with a new one and some cans of wet food. The guy who rung us up put one of our wet food cans as a sample so he could try it out, and another staff member stocked us up with all kinds of food samples so we could see what he liked before we tore open the new bag. We also got a bottle of shampoo there because he smelt like a kennel after the trip to Washington from California. Again we were helped so well and shown the differences between all their shampoos. I can't rave about this place enough, we took our dog for his first outing in the store and everyone was so nice. This is the only place I'll do my dog food shopping!! Thank you!! read more

(2017)Errr I wrote a bad review last year before because I was feeling emotional about one employee's incompetence, but I haven't seen her since that one bad time last year. I think this place is great. The employees are very nice and helpful. They seem knowledgeable and speak with me like they genuinely are interested in what I have to say about my pet. They started carrying Orijen late last year which I am very pleased about. Also, their prices for premium cat food are less than all the other local pet stores and big box pet stores. One more thing, they have legitimate cat toys that cats will actually enjoy. The toys at petco and petsmart are kind of weird. I don't have any complaints about this place. I live close by and I always come for my monthly canned cat food run. read more

I stopped coming to Mudbay after my German Shepherd passed away 2 years ago. I just couldn't bring myself to enter pet stores without crying. Recently I was forced to come in here because our pet ducks were low on food. The fact that they carry duck food makes them four stars! I normally drive out to Monroe, so you can imagine my relief when I found some here. Although it is about 6 bucks more, it works when I am running low. The staff is always nice and their selection is hard to beat! I also love that they actually know what they are talking about, makes shopping for dog food a lot easier! Now that we have a new puppy I plan on coming here a lot more. read more

I am very happy with Mud Bay overall. The have a great selection of everything, and a knowledgable staff who always seems willing to help or suggest something that may be useful. I went there to pick up my monthly supply of Royal Canin, they were out of the particular "Persian Mix" that I regularly buy, so the girl apologized and gave me about 10 samples of it to get me by! Now that's service! The prices are good also, I pay about $1-$2 less for our cat/dog food here than what it sells in Petsmart for. They also have a wide variety of very cool toys for the pets as well, and free samples of health supplements to boot! read more

Been here on several occasions for cat food. My cat has some allergies and it is very hard to find foods with novel proteins at Petco, etc. They are always really helpful to me and they have good prices. The food I bought there was at least $5 more per bag at Petco. They are also very generous with samples of new foods and have a good return policy. For the owner of a pet with tummy troubles, this place has been wonderful. read more

I'm so glad there's a pet store in the Lake Forest Park Towne Center again. This store has a great selection and their employees are always very helpful when you have questions or don't know what you're really looking for. I was looking for shampoo for my cat (a long story) and they pointed me in the right direction. I also overheard another employee come in and ask about "something the vet said might help" her dog and they were able to figure out what she was talking about. Their products are kind of pricey, but you definitely see the quality you're paying for. The cat toy I purchased there hasn't been destroyed yet and it's been over two months! read more

I have loved Mud bay since we got our rescue in 2015 but this one is my favorite by far. Madeline and Dani are incredible additions to my dog Ricky, and my life and I am so thankful to have this store so close to my home, and so knowledgeable about his elderly care. Recently I went through a scary illness with my pet and they knew exactly what he needed. I highly suggest, a few items from this company: OPEN FARM PET FOODS!! It changed my dogs life so much. When I got him he was overweight and his coat was dull. Now, you would never know he is 12 years old and we call him Benny for short of: Benjamin Button, the dog that ages backwards! Scooters butt bars for lower intestinal support. BULK BISCUITS!! I have never saved so much on treats and felt so good about what I am giving him. I like their selection of cat treats. I have a feline that is allergic to wheat and corn products and this store has a few treats without any fillers. The staff is hit and miss on customer service. I would think being a small company there would be more emphasis on customer service but at times it is lacking. For example,asking me if I need help finding a particular product in passing and not sticking around for me to answer yes or no. Or at the check out, saying nothing and pushing my purchase towards me after I paid. For the most part, this store is convenient but as for product knowledge I don't think the staff is informed enough. We love this store! The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgable without being pushy or hover-y. They carry our favorite cat litter (Integrity) that I can never find in other stores, and they're happy to carry it to my car for me. They have a great selection of cool toys. Best of all, the store is crammed with wonderful pet info pamplets (how to convert to a raw diet, how to diagnose litterbox problems, etc.) that you can just take for free! I haven't taken any classes yet, but I'd like to. All in all, I feel like their goal is less about making money and more about making happy, healthy pets, and I can't give a higher recommendation than that. read more

I love checking out local pet stores and seeing the cool things they have. They often have specialty or novelty items that the big stores don't have. Mud Bay is no exception. I come here to buy doggie kibble- the big stores don't carry Taste of the Wild. They have several locations scattered around the Puget Sound area that make it not too out of the way to drop by. Their staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. They attempt to offer a treat to my dog at every visit, even though she's a snob and scared of other dogs and refuses their treats every time. They even helped me pick out a Christmas present for her- a fairly indestructible squeaker chipmunk that is both adorable and beloved. Great place. Great people. Fan for life! read more
