Nestled in the same old train station in Reynoldstown that houses Golden Eagle you'll find a shop that is reminiscent of 1970s SoCal. It'll make you want to don your shortest athletic shorts and tube socks. Muchacho is wonderfully located if you need a quick pit stop during your Beltline walk or if you want to sit and enjoy the weather over a cold agua fresca. The food is kind of just - Meh. The service is great. The ambiance is fantastic. Really well curated and designed. But it's a lot more hype and ambiance than quality of food. I would definitely maaaaaaybe stop in for a coffee on your way to the Beltline (just adjacent), but I would rather walk to Petit Chou or even Rias Bluebird or Homegrown and spend my breakfast calories somewhere where I'll really enjoy them. The avocado toast at Muchacho is so boring and uninspiring compared to the avocado toast at Spiller Park or Petit Chou. Their pastries look like they came from Walmart. I'm Cuban so I know what a good pastelito de guayaba is supposed to look and taste like, and the ones at Muchacho are a visual turnoff. I can see how for folks who've never been exposed to pastelitos, the ones at Muchacho might seem like a novelty. But nothing bothers me more than when a restaurant/clothing brand/or business appropriates an ethnic item and dumbs it down, thus, misrepresenting and culturally appropriating. I like the ambiance, and the service at Muchacho has been consistently amazing, but Muchacho is a lot of hype and a lot of superficial fix-ins and mediocre, sub-par food. Definitely grab your coffee to go, or enjoy a warm caffeinated drink on their beautiful patio, but save your appetite for a place worthy of your taste buds, which, in my opinion, is NOT Muchacho. read more

Muchacho was a great experience- I went on a Saturday night and it was lively but not so busy that the service took a hit or it was uncomfortably loud. They also have a parking lot with ample, free parking. The restaurant itself is beautiful, I love the curved bar, the low light and the outdoor seating area. It really makes for a versatile space for many types of gatherings. I was a little confused at first by the way you order at the counter and then find a table- didn't feel quite right for the moody, low-lit vibe of the place, but I'm not going to dock them for that. The food was delicious, I ordered the Baja fish taco and the barbacoa taco, as well as a Paloma. I highly enjoyed both tacos, unfortunately I felt that they were pretty over priced. $7 for a single taco is a little bit of a stretch in my opinion, especially when you can get a pretty equivalent taco for $3-5 pretty much anywhere else in Atlanta. I will say, the beef was delicious and melted in my mouth. But my total was almost $30 for two tacos and a drink, which hurt a little bit considering I wasn't really full after the meal. The Paloma was enjoyable, and others at my table commented that the margaritas were also great. Unfortunately, we also ordered the finger guns, which no one at the table like and then just a vodka cran which had a garnish of mint I believe that appeared to be unwashed and made the whole drink taste vaguely like dirt. A little disappointed in the cocktails, so maybe stick with the classics. The overall vibe was great though and I would probably return to try something else on the menu. read more

The long salt and peppered colored hair lady working the front register who said her name was shawna has never made me and my family feel so uninvited to any establishment in all of our lives! We approach the register at 9ish and my mom is told she cannot order a frozen drink because the machine is down for the night as we see one walk right past us on a tray and so I ask why and say we see one right there and she says oh yeah that's the last one. I tell we drove all the way there and for that and walk away. 2 minutes later I see her making one for the lady that was in line behind me. I go back and tell her that I find it funny she could make it for her but not me or my mom and she said I walked away before she could tell me that she could now. Total BS and we will never go back! They clearly don't treat everyone the same! I didn't even order my food as my appetite left my body as discrimination entered. read more

This review is for the internet service at the coffee shop not the food! Food and service is 4 stars: pleasant, friendly, good quality good, but internet needs some help. I live across the street and was pretty stoked that there was a new coffee shop where I could sit outside, enjoy a good meal and do some work on my computer. I ordered my food and sat outside and guess what..NO WIFI INTERNET access outside. That's there best asset too. I inquired about this and they gave me the excuse that the public internet band with does not reach outside the coffee shop. But all their secured internal internet services seem to have zero problems out there. So that excuse doesn't fly. It's not secure internet access either so no protection and u can have your data harvested at any point in time there. So connect at your own risk. But goodluck with connecting out on the patio! read more

Very disappointed! I had ordered two breakfast tacos with chorizo and a savory empanada. Let's start with the empanada; the flavor was great, however if they would have warmed up the empanada prior to serving, it would have been great. Now on to the sad breakfast tacos. When you think of a breakfast taco, you expect flavor and some spice to wake up those morning taste buds. Your first bite should have you CRAVING for more! Unfortunately that wasn't the case. The in house made tortilla was nice, but that's about it. The eggs were completely bland (which is an understatement), no chorizo in the eggs (even though I paid extra for it). The entire taco just tasted like the raw onions that were diced up and added on top of the eggs with some cilantro. Honestly wouldn't recommend this spot. read more

Went here for breakfast and a pick me up. My wife got a latte and I got a cortado, both were delicious. We also got 4 different breakfast tacos to share. All were fantastic, fresh, and I loved the crispness of the tortilla shells to add just a hint of texture. The space is definitely in an up and coming part of town and while small, we got there just before their rush so we had no problem getting seats but as we were leaving it looked like others may have a hard time since it was raining and their outdoor seating wasn't an option. read more

Love the vibe of this place. Not too much indoor seating, but there is a ton of outdoor seating (with some space heaters). I had the Muchacho taco, guava and cream cheese pastry, and horchata. Overall, delicious! There was a good amount of filling in the pastry, and the horchata wasn't too sweet. I thought the taco could have had more chorizo in it because I think it only had one chunk in it, unless it was just cut up really finely. The staff was friendly, and I will definitely be back to try their coffee and other menu items. I don't normally leave reviews online, but at the risk of this place becoming even more popular, I felt like it definitely deserves the support and love. I'm new to Atlanta and have been struggling to find a "spot." Most of the coffee shops I've checked out have been way too expensive and/or have bad coffee and food. Muchacho has good coffee, excellent cookies, and really good breakfast tacos. The fenced-off outdoor patio at the tail-end of the beltline trail has been the perfect place for me to work from during COVID. I ventured over to Muchacho last Sunday and am already planning my return. I am not a Texan, nor have I spent much time there, so I can't speak to the authenticity of the taco selection. What I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed my order. I tried the short rib and al pastor tacos and was pleased with both. I thought they were well seasoned and sufficiently filling for breakfast. I also had a coffee and one of the pastries (some sort of corn cake), and I was pleased with both selections as well. My boyfriend tried the breakfast tacos with chorizo and was less impressed as they were less substantial than the meat tacos. Overall I thought the space was lively though small, and the staff were engaging and friendly. I look forward to returning. read more

Normally we love this place. Today they failed. With covid there is an online order option. Great. That way i can avoid people while supporting local businesses....today. i get there at the specified time for my pick up...10 min later they tell me there was an issue and the printer just reprinted tickets. Its been 30 min since the original order....for tacos. 25 min after that....my food is ready. So after standing around a bunch of people...which was the one thing i was trying to avoid....i head home...and the order is wrong. I added cheese to a taco and paid extra for it but didnt get it. So roll the dice if you like...it could be great...or you could start your day disappointed. read more
