The man on the phone asked what type of event I wanted to hold, he said he recommends the picnic area. I told him we weren't interested in that area. He continued for a good 5 minutes going on and on about there not being enough parking, they usually only like to rent that space out for weddings, or they rent one house at a time, again suggesting the picnic area. First of all, Whether the picnic area or the meadow is rented out the parking situation remains the same. I finally just asked for clarity to end hi rambling, it's either a yes or no and he said "yeah I'm going to go with no". What! We're Danville residents simply looking for (and paying for) a place to hold a birthday party. It's available, I called 5 months in advance and he said no. Incredibly rude and I would love a sincere explanation as to why because apparently the decision is up this gentlemen and his mood for the day.

Understand that my mother was brought to the home and immediately put into hospice care through Ace Hospice. The hospice nurses were over the top wonderful. When you are in a rush trying to find a board and care home for a loved one whose days are numbered, you tend to sign things without really reading them thoroughly. They have a clause in their contract that states that there will be no refund for monthly rent. Meaning if you pay a new months rent and your loved one passes away the next day, you forfeit all of the rest of the months rent. My mother passed away 7 days into the new month. I expected to get back a pro-rated months rent. That's when they bring up the clause in the contract and keep your money. If you decide to move your loved one here, be aware of the contract that you are signing and read and understand everything. I figure they took over $4000 of my mother's money.

It's really heartwarming to see a community come together to support local businesses. Downtown Novato has really transformed into a Norman Rockwellian town with a modern twist. Regardless of the gourmet restaurants and chic shops, this town still retains its old school charm and values. When you walk into a store, most people know each other on a first name basis; families are still dining together; people are still walking their dogs and pushing their baby strollers. The…read moreperson working on my mother's Medicaid Application often asked for documents at the last minute that required time to be retrieved as they were not available online, she miscalculated the amount for the pre-funeral costs which resulted in a bank overdraft, and she could not recall if a document essential to the application was sent for the review. Eventually my mother's application was approved, but 4 months later we received a penalty notice which stopped the Medicaid payments for 6 1/2 months. When I first sent the notice to the worker she thought it was just a routine form letter until the nursing home confirmed that it was not. After paying all of the money to the company I no longer have confidence that they are Medicaid experts and have needed to spend more money to hire an Elder Care Certified Attorney to file the appeal. It seems that it would be much better to hire Certified Elder Care Law Firms in your state rather than a nationwide organization that has paraprofessionals handling such important matter.
