Making an appointment at Quest Diagnostics does help out and be sure that your information is inputted correctly. When I see people that come to Quest Diagnostics they are not prepare and they end up arguing with Quest. I been taken good care of at Quest Diagnostics. When I arrive on time I been check in right away depending on how many people are getting lab work (I go there in the morning which is 50/50 insane). This location only has one person that works there. It use to be two people that work there to help get people's appointment done right away. The wait when you do have a appointment is 5-10 minutes but if there isn't anyone you are seen right away when you enter. I have thought this location has been closed down since they have not open for business for a month but I guess they were trying to get someone that can work there. read more

Horrible experience everytime I come to this location. Most recently I booked an appointment ahead of time. Showed up early to check in. No one was at the counter so I used the kiosk and waited as instructed. I briefly stepped outside and my name was called by the only phlebotomist/office worker. When I wasnt available she moved to the next person. About 20 minutes later she comes back out and tells me I missed my appointment and she cant do anything other than take me as a walk in. There were already a few walk ins a head of me so I left and rescheduled elsewhere. I have been here a few times over the years and I must say at this point. The Hercules Quest location offers sub par services compared to nearby locations. read more

Honestly, this place has been very frustrating to deal with. There is usually only one worker there, and it honestly feels like she doesn't want to work. Even when the place is completely empty, they refuse walk-ins and tell you to go somewhere else. They accept walk-ins, but when you call or show up, they never do. It's misleading and a waste of time. Appointments are also a big issue. It's very hard to find availability, and even if you manage to book something two weeks out, you might arrive and find they're closed or your appointment was canceled without any notice. On top of that, they often close earlier than their posted hours and seem to clock out quickly before their actual closing time. What's really disappointing is that the location itself is great. It's in a nice neighborhood, very close to my house, and I was actually happy to find a place nearby so I wouldn't have to drive far. I really wanted to keep coming here, but unfortunately the service is extremely poor. I would not recommend this location. read more

Third time I make an appointment way in advance and they are closed. No courtesy of appointment cancellation, no notification or any sort of communication from them. You find out they are closed the day of your appointment as walk up and for once have a sign that they are closed. The first time it happened not even a posted sign. My daughter and I visited Quest Diagnostics at 1 PM on a Friday, and it was one of the best lab experiences I've had. We had a reservation and were able to check in electronically 10 minutes prior, which was convenient. While there was no one at the front desk, a kiosk made it easy to confirm our arrival, and a young woman checked to make sure we were all set. In less than two minutes, we were called into the blood draw room, where the process was handled quickly and professionally. The staff made my daughter feel calm and comfortable, and we were finished before her appointment time had even officially started. Overall, the experience was seamless. There was ample parking and the location was easy to find on the first floor. I'm sure there are other reviews who have had a different situation. I definitely recommend a reservation. read more

After having a bad experienced with this location just today with the Supervisor Jessica Tran, I went straight to look it up all the Quest she is handling, from Marin county and this Hercules Location, I am not surprise why you get this rating. My first encounter was in Marin it was very rude phlebotomist, even it's not quite the same here in Hercules, since the phlebotomist was very nice. I have been working in the health field for 30 yrs and just a reminder that each one of as is replaceable, another corporate that does not think of others but their profits. Anyone who comes in your facilities are customers not only patient! and Yes, you keep telling that to yourself Ms. Tran that it is policy of Quest but look all your reviews, it just shows how your run your locations! read more

It never fails; Every time I come to this quest, they have some sort of excuse! I can only arrive at 3 pm but it's clear the staff legit clocks out at that time. Good luck trying to get them to take you if you arrive around 3pm. They will throw any excuse to you, be visually irritated you even came in. It'll be totally empty and they'll tell you they're not accepting any walk ins after xyz time. Or they'll tell you their system isn't working; When clearly it let you check in just fine. Agree with Missy G (5/27/21) that they are good with toddlers. Four stars is generous, but this place is better than the LabCorp places that I've been to and much, much better than Concentra also. What's great: Three-year-old Jenbert Jr was not traumatized by this event. Matter of fact, she said at bedtime that she's grateful for the "doctor" who drew her blood. Our phlebotomist was patient, made small conversation with Jenbert Jr, and explained what was going on. I don't remember her name, but she was good and Jenbert Jr didn't cry. If I can't get a pediatric phlebotomist, I'll definitely take this one again. Five stars for her. What isn't so great: We had a 10:00 appointment and still had to wait until about 10:20 to be seen. Check-in is self-service at a kiosk where you scan your appointment QR code, your ID, your insurance card, so nothing in the way of customer service. If you have questions, you're SOL because there's no one to talk to except for the security guard (who technically isn't Quest staff). Two stars for a DIY check-in with no customer service. I arrived at 7:35am for my 7:40am appointment and checked in via the link sent to my phone number. Booking the appointment online was easy - although if you are required to fast before your blood draw, getting an early morning appointment at this location may require waiting a few weeks. My appointment was the first one of the day and I was called in at 7:37am and out by 7:45am. Maira was the only employee in the entire facility (there is no front desk worker). She was very skilled and I felt minimal discomfort during the blood draw process. read more

This location is terrible. No one answers the phone. The operating hours on the automated recording list operational hours opening at 7:30 M-F I've been waiting for 45 min (8:15 am) and the door is locked. No one opens the door and no one answers the phone. It would be nice to have a local lab to go to but once again I'll have to go to out of area because this location sucks! read more

Used to be great until 2021 during the pandemjc. It was not a big deal to schedule appointments 1-2 weeks in advance and even do drop-ins from 7:30 to 10 a.m..... In 2022, to schedule an appointment, I had to do it 4+ weeks in advance to end up with a 10 a.m. or later fasted blood draw. The appointments were also late: a 10 a.m. slot means the blood draw happened 15 to 20 min. later, assuming the phlebotomist didn't miss. Recently, I checked in to an appointment scheduled 1 week earlier. The receptionist did not process the paperwork or checked insurance coverage like they did pre-Covid. When I returned 20 min. later, the lab door was locked--see photo. When the door re-opened at the indicated time by the phlebotomist, the phlebotomist dealt with the lab order and sample paperwork in addition to the phlebotomy. The process took 15 to 20 min. The corporate practice changes have made things worse. Instead of 2 to 3 staff members, there seems to be 1 phlebotomist who seems to do the bulk of the work. The receptionist seems to only be a "greeter" and to assist patients with the appointment check-in. Will definitely check out other nearby labs: my dh loves LabCorp--he switched last year from this Quest. read more

Five stars for mornings, one star for this Monday afternoon. I had to do a fasting test and had the unlucky draw of an afternoon appointment. After going here regularly in the mornings, I figured it would be empty and staffed with the highly efficient morning staff that I am used to. I was wrong. It was packed. Only one person working. After waiting for about 3 hours I found out that the specific tests I needed had to be done in the morning. I was understandably frustrated. Please get these people more staff. If quest is listening expecting one person to cover all of a Monday afternoon is ridiculous after seeing the volume they're faced with. I am absolutely livid with quest diagnostics right now. Specifically the Hercules location. I went to go get my California prenatal screening blood test done. One that only quest can perform. She had to poke me twice because she couldn't find my veins. Now, a week later (today) I get a call from my OB telling me that the lab couldn't run the test because the technician only had my name on the test tubes and didn't use two patient identifiers (this is a MUST and a standard for any kind of lab test). Also, I find this out on the last day I could get this particular test done and it's 4:30pm which means most locations are closed and I still would have had to drive to my OB office to pick up the lab slip to get this test done and would not have made it in time to quest to get blood drawn. If you need blood work done, don't go to quest. Find another lab that will ensure your safety. If they missed something so basic, how do you know as a patient that they're handling your specimens correctly?!? Protect yourself and your health and go somewhere else. read more

This is a busy lab, but most of the times I've been there, there is only one staff member on site. She does all of the work by herself, and though she does her absolute best, there's no way it can all be done in time by one person. Even if you have an appointment, expect to have to wait. read more

I had my lab work done today at Quest Diagnostics and I was very impressed at the improvement on the check in process. Prior to going in I was able to make an appointment and register on line. The online process was super easy and user friendly. Once I arrived I checked in using the self check in kiosk and was called In within 5 minutes. Roshini was my phlebotomist and she was excellent and very detailed oriented. She explained the process including my take home test that was recommended by my doctor. I was out of there in 15 minutes. I am a fan. read more

Advocating for a friend with disabilities here! My friend who has cerebral palsy and a guide dog came in for a drug screen and was told he couldn't take his guide dog with him. Mind you it is against the ADA to deny access to him because of his guide dog who is ACTIVELY working. Some training needs to be done to ensure this doesn't happen again. read more

Awesome with kids! Be sure to make an appointment! I'm still giving 5 stars even though my wait time as a walk in was long, and kept getting longer instead of shorter! I ended up going back the next day with an appointment and was seen right away. The appointments were actually for my 4 year old grandson. He had to go twice. He saw a different staff each time (and I'm kicking myself for not getting their names to give proper credit). Both times the staff were so patient with him. He had tons of questions and needed to know every single thing they were doing. They stopped and started when he requested - prior to actually putting the needle in. They let him look at a needle and tubes, safely. I mean, they just got it and were so patient and never showed annoyance with him. I'm sure it will be the same next time, but I know they helped build his confidence in getting scary things done and letting him know it's ok to ask questions! read more

I have always had a good experience in the Hercules Lab. Everyone was cordial and efficient. The patient's attitude is important when communicating with all employees. If I could Give then NEGATIVE STARS, i would! The Wait was long and no one is ever in the front to help or greet guests. This is a no go. If it wasn't for my job that requires to get my scans done, I would NEVER come here! They have terrible service and is very reluctant to help anyone! Rude, unprofessional and dismissive. I've been coming here the past six years to get biometric screenings for my companies annual wellness program. In the past things have generally ran smoothly but for some reason my order wasn't sent from Quest to this office so my 7:45AM appointment was a waste. I called Quest and learned there system was down so they had to fax over my order. Well the rep on the phone Mary wanted to speak with the tech and the older Middle Eastern woman (without the glasses) refused to get on the line telling me very dismissively, "I can't do anything without the order." The woman on the line wanted to speak with her so she could give her the codes she needed so I could get my screening done while they waited to receive the paper order. No! She continues to act busy and do other things in the office including seeing other patients when clearly I've been waiting now impatiently. What a bleeping waste of my time. It's now 9:10 and I'm still waiting. My bad for waiting until the last day to get it done or else I would have left a long time ago. Way to go customer service over the phone but at this facility they are dire need of some people service training. read more

I have revised my original review because of two reasons. I made an appointment and went to this location the Monday following Thanksgiving. It was very busy, most likely due to the holiday and it took an hour or so to get done. One clerk was nice and was very professional. The other clerk was not as professional in the reception area, but she did make up for it when assisting me in the back office. She followed the procedures (they are posted on the wall) to a tee and was a little better with her customer service when we were in the exam room. They had trouble with the computer system as they had just installed a new program and I was their first appointment using that new system for this type of test. I knew how to fix their computer issue as it was just enabling add-ons, but they called their help desk support because they couldn't figure it out. They advised the results would be available by Wednesday and when I checked, the results had been reported as promised. The only reasons this was not a higher review are because of the lack of customer service but it seems that could be easily improved as I did witness it in the back office - just not the waiting rooms. My biggest issue with Quest is that they do not allow clients to talk to a live person when calling their number. They route you to an automated system or refer you to their website and there is no option to get to a real person unless you get in your car and drive there. That, to me shows they don't care enough about their clients to employ a call center or a staff receptionist at the locations to handle the front office and phones so technicians can focus on back office tasks. This is a big deal because those that are not tech savvy or are up in years and are very used to face-to-face interaction to get their business handled are left with no option other than to drive to the location. That is unacceptable. Quest needs to hire reception staff for the locations and call center staff for general questions. It would certainly show that they do care about their clients. ************************************************************************************************************** Quest only offers automated appointment scheduling or you can make an appointment by utilizing their website. Neither option allows you to connect with a live person. The hours posted on the website are Monday through Friday, 9am - 4pm, PT. I arrived within the prescribed hours and signed in. No one was at the front desk for several minutes. Finally a woman comes out and upon seeing the type of test I was there for (pre-employment drug screen), she advised that "those type of tests" are only taken until 3pm. No where is this posted on the website or at the Quest office. In small print at the bottom of my paperwork, it does mention the hours for the test, but I missed that detail as it is not prominent on the form. I asked the clerk if they are in the office Friday and she said no, that I would have to come back Monday. I then asked if the Pinole Quest location was open and she replied, "No, they closed so you have to come here." I told her I tried to call the office but I couldn't get through and before I could finish my sentence, she interrupted me and said she was with a client. I began my sentence again and was able to tell her that the automated system does not allow you to connect with a live individual or office personnel at the locations. She looked at me and shrugged her shoulders uttering, "Oh well." I feel this individual needs to be schooled in basic customer service, especially being associated with healthcare. The comments and body language that she displayed are unacceptable. I don't feel that Quest deserves the business. To employ individuals such as the clerk I encountered and to eliminate the ability for clients to contact a live person when they need to shows me that they don't care about their clients. What about people that are not tech-savvy or don't have computers or cell phones (such as my daughters' grandparents). What are they to do? I wasted my time yesterday and now have to return on Monday. I have dealt with other labs such as LabCorp and Concentra and those establishments are very accommodating, professional, and quick to provide the services requested. If you have the choice of which lab to attend, do not use Quest. There are other providers more deserving of your business. read more
