Went to MSI to look at stone slabs for my new kitchen counter tops. My first impression was great! We did a virtual check-in so you know they are maintaining social distancing fir safety. Yolanda was so knowledgeable. She took me to the back where I was able to see the actual slabs. What a large selection! I loved using their visualization tool on my phone that put my favorite slabs in my own kitchen. Don't forget to take a photo with your phone before you go. read more

MSI manufactures and distributes slabs and tile directly through contractors. I don't think that they sell directly to the public (MSI - please correct me if I'm wrong). You will see a selection of quartz samples on a stand in a majority of cabinet shops in San Diego (or at least we did). Our contractor sent us down there to select a slab. It's a huge facility on the north side of Miramar. It's tucked in the middle of a number of warehouses and you'll need your GPS to find it easily. You register when you first visit so that MSI can send your product details to your contractor. There is no pricing on anything. There is a spread between the retail price and the price that the contractor pays. I'm guessing that the more business a contractor does, the better their price. Some contractors will pass all or a portion of their discount to you. Others may not. Ours did. We ended up making 3 trips for counter material. First, we chose a Porcelain slab. The benefits: inexpensive and potentially bulletproof. The negatives: brittle and not many fabricators can work with it. We had to switch fabricator and then SoCal Counterworks, who we found thru MSI, ended up advising against the Porcelain. 2nd trip: We tried to find a replacement for the porcelain. We found a quartz that was very similar and a gray quartz that seemed like it would be a bargain. It turned out that the gray was the MOST EXPENSIVE quartz in the place. We only found this out after getting a revised bid from SoCal. This after having envisioned it in the space for a week. This is much like getting the letter of acceptance from a college, but not getting the financial package for another 3 weeks. Your son or daughter falls for the school only to find out that you can't afford it. Do you send them anyway or force them to make another choice? We chose to make a 3rd trip: This time we asked one of the reps to give us retail pricing. He did and we picked out slabs ranging from $37 to $22. We ended up choosing the least expensive slab and our contractor discounted the price to us. It all worked out well in the end. If you are going there through your contractor, I would ask the staff to include the retail sq ft pricing whether you are looking at slabs or their extensive selection of tile (unless money is no object). But most everyone has a budget on a project and this will help you make an informed choice. The staff at MSI is knowledgeable and friendly, and the over all experience of shopping there is great. I would not hesitate to recommend MSI. Rick read more

Meh is one of the largest surfaces distributors in the USA. they dont sell to the public as distributors they protect the trade. If you need or want a design session. the best choice is to find a designer by your own. MSI its a distributor not a design place or contractors office. read more

This should not be construed as a negative; only that there are a few glaring deficiencies that should be considered for change. First; the showroom is huge and no allowance has been made for people who just aren't up to walking for those long distances. Craigs list has numerous listings for very economical power carts. One or two of these would enhance their shopping experience. Two; the "sample boards" for backsplash options are too high and not supposed to be removed from their display slot. "Sample boards" have to be easily removed and placed at different angles, next to others and at right angles to sample countertop materials. Third; the slab area could have better directions as to where particular slabs are located. Overall the experience was good, but it could have been so much better! read more

Very difficult place to work with. They only sell to contractors, and require the license holder (himself or herself) to show up and register with them. Employees and or/agents of the contractor are not allowed. This makes it tough to even get registered. They have a "dealer list" but the dealer locally is Home Depot. Home depot has never heard of them and wont order. So you strike out there too. read more

Though I love the showroom, and Parul in accounts was incredibly helpful, and the contractor pricing is great (we bought through our contractor but did the direct contact with the store ourselves after they accepted his account info), we were really unhappy with the returns issues. The 30day return time is impossible with all the delays in remodeling right now. We had at least 2 boxes of broken floor vinyl pieces and 2 unopened boxes, and they wouldn't accept any of it 45days after we bought them. When we were within the 30 days, returning a box of tile took almost an hour between the accounts office and the warehouse. And when we bought quartz slabs, fully paid for, they wouldn't release them to us because one was scratched. Albeit, we didn't pick them up for almost 3 months (again, thanks covid), but they had 3 months to correct the problem...not right at the moment we needed them! So we had to wait again, for a shipment of more quartz, and delay again. Meanwhile, we were never notified of the scratch issue until we came to pick them up. read more

They don't sell to the public but you can go to any of their vendors for prices. Shop around different vendors for different prices . They do vary. Also check out their website they have a kitchen visualizer. You can pick the countertop, cabinet color and backsplash and it will show you them on an actual kitchen.
