Her knowledge and dedication to hair is unmatched. She's styled me natural hair and her staff ( I can't remember the young ladies name, Deja?) has cared for my daughters hair several times. The price is fair and the results are gorgeous. I have sat in the shop and have seen all her clients get and show the same love time after time. Now for Flo, who did my weave. I have straight slippery hair (Asian mix)...when I say the quickest most painless braid up ever ...then the tracks sewn in so flawlessly I thought it was growing out my scalp! After a month I only took it out because I was tired of it and wanted to wear my hair for awhile but I have no doubt it would've lasted a few more weeks. In December I went back for hair color (darker), style and makeup for my husbands 1920's themed Christmas party. I wish I had looked that good for my own wedding 22 years ago. *For reference, I have a dense amount of straight, fine hair. On average I have to wash my hair every other day and I see Marsha every 1.5 months to maintain my healthy hair. Marsha is the type of hairstylist every hairstylist should aim to be: -Always listens to and flexibly collaborates with client's vision; -Develops solid trust and connection with clients; -Decades of experience styling and professionally teaching; - Capable of handling all hair types (this is extremely important); - Understands the actual biological and chemical background behind the specialty and can cater to every client I've been seeing Marsha for 10 years now and she has never led me wrong. I am always complemented on the length and shine of my hair and I attribute every related compliment to Marsha. I started seeing her because my previous hairstylist told me there was nothing she could do for me unless I let her cut off all my dead ends, which was around 10 inches at the time. I ended up cutting my hair that day but resolved to never see her again. Then I scheduled with Marsha for the first time and upon hearing previous story, she was horrified. She told me that it's always the client's choice on how much to cut. She asked me my current vision for my hair; I told her I was really trying to keep my length, but to try working towards overall, healthy hair. She ended up only cutting about 2 inches off that day, even though there was probably a lot more damage. When I tell you that I was guided to a goldmine, I am not over exaggerating! I was immediately greeted with sense of warmth and passion. I have natural hair and my hair is a big part of me. Since I did the big chop, my hair has allowed me to walk in my truest being. So, it takes a lot for me to trust anyone. On the downside, not being trusting has caused me to walk around with unflattering split ends. Sure, it looks amazing from a distance, but that popping sound when I put a comb through it is not cute. The service was great. Ms marsha was sweet and offered me snacks throughout the perm process. I have straight short hair and went to get myself a body wave perm. From the beginning i like it since we first talked about what i wanted and the damage my hair was gonna get. She recommended a new shampoo, conditioner and better ways to get may hair back healthy after the procedure. This my first perm. So there was a lot of stuff i thought i knew but did not. So i was happy that everything she did to my hair she explained why. Overall it took 3hrs. This is the 3rd day since i did my perm and i am still happy with the results. This review is waaaaaay overdue considering I got my hair done here almost a month ago. That being said, I would give Ms.Marsha 6/5 stars if I could. Before I went to the salon, I had been wearing my hair in its natural curly state for about 2 years without monthly trims or anything. I knew my hair had grown a whole lot so I was wary about who I went to to get a trim. I found Ms.Marsha through yelp and all of her great reviews. I was able to get an appointment right away. Now I'm used to stylists just jumping into my hair just doing whatever the hell they thought was appropriate without consulting me about anything. Not only did Ms.Marsha really take a look at my hair, she ANALYZED the hell out of my hair and gave me a ton of great tips and products to use on my hair. I really learned a bunch of stuff I did not know about my own hair lol. Back to the actual treatment though. I just wanted a wash, condition, flat iron and trim. I was probably in her chair for less than an hour n a half and I LOVED the results. Not only did the styling look nice, but I can tell my hair is super healthy now that the ends have been cut and I've been using Marsha's advice. First of all, I have to say this is the first time I have been so moved to do a YELP review. Here is the short story: Marsha is the most amazing hair stylist/life changer. She worked through my daughters super kinky, tightly curly, extremely tangled, almost locked hair until she could comb through it. Once we got through the hard part she set us up on a routine to maintain it. She is so amazing and committed to the work I cannot reccomend her any more highly! Here is the long story: Miss Marsha changed my life. As a white woman with a black husband, our 9 year old daughter has the most amazing and beautiful hair. The only problem WAS that we didn't know how to manage it. After many years of struggling with detangling products, tools, and many countless hours trying to comb her hair out...we ended up loosing control of the situation. I finally had the courage to get help. I yelped "mixed hair" and Marsha was #2. I started reading the reviews and knew she was the one. I called her and she confirmed just by her voice and confidence that she was going to help us. We went to meet her on a Sunday afternoon and we have been going every week since. She was so determined and had the most amazing manner and she was not going to quit until we got through my daughters tangles. It was not easy, but Marsha never gave up, never lost her patience, and persevered until we were combing through my daughters hair.
