I came in on a whim since I've been looking for a new place. My previous go-to became too pricey for what it was. When I checked in, they told me to come 40 minutes later as there were 3 people ahead of me. Made sense and I realized I should have called beforehand! I went for a quick workout and they were ready to take me at 2pm. The ladies were very nice and the person who cut my hair happened to speak cantonese so she gave me good tips on haircare and told me that my hair is so wavy that it won't stay straight despite her straightening several times. I told her what I wanted and she followed it to a tee and my haircut is so well done! For straightening hair and doing layers, it's $35 + tip. Stumbled across Fancy Cuts in the middle of the day and decided to give them a call. After briefly talking over the phone with an employee, I was able to get a same day appointment for a women's cut with Van. The employee + Van was really kind. My hair was in need of a long overdue trim due to breakage and split ends from being blonde. I got seated immediately upon arrival by Van. I had a dry haircut since I had just washed my hair and it took about 15-20 minutes. I'm very happy with what I requested versus what I got in the end. Thank you Van! Honestly? I've had high end salon cuts all the way down to cheap cuts and I've realized that I don't really care about the extra stuff as long as the cut is even. Today, I called around 11am and they said that I can come in at noon. The shop is right off Hesperian and there's a parking lot. The shop itself is not fancy hit clean enough. I was seated as soon as I walked in. She did a dry cut. I asked for long layers and curtain bangs. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Overall, left satisfied. The one thing that would take this trip to a 3.5 would be that she flat ironed my hair without putting heat protection on it. I was cringing the entire time. Been trying to take care of my hair so it bothered me. Luckily, I used some heat protectant yesterday so I'm hoping it lasted through that. Anyway, for the price on $35. Not going to complain about that too much. I'll probably just remember to put heat protectant before I get another cut. :) read more

After 2 hair washes, my hair color has changed completely. It has turned more of a brassy chocolate brown shade, which is completely off and different from the ash grey I had asked for. It's a shame that the color quality is not good at all, but that's not the worst part. The price definitely did not reflect the work. Shoutout to Yelp for allowing me to find this place! Women's haircuts can become quite pricey depending on where you go, so I was grateful to find this place, where women's haircuts start at $20. I think because I got my bangs cut, it was an additional $5. Still such a steal! I called ahead of time to book an appointment for Friday morning but they do take walk-ins. I got my haircut by Lucy. She was friendly and sweet. My hair was long and the same length, so I asked for layers and also showed her a photo of someone else's haircut that was done here. I also asked for face framing bangs. I'm pleased with how it came out. I didn't notice until I got home that the left side was a little longer than the right side (looking from behind), but not a big deal, since it's not noticeable from the front. She truly takes care of me, making sure the water is ok and I'm comfortable, being gentle with brushing my hair, and even telling me to take a nap when I doze off! 9/17/24 It was very quick and easy to call and make an appointment for highlight service. Binny did my highlights and they turned out beautiful! i picked out a chocolatey brown and gold highlights because i want to be able to grow out my hair without a significant color change from my natural black hair and blond outgrowth. Binny was very nice and welcoming, her service was great! The other place that i went to would charge me $350+ for highlights and take over 6 hours because i had such long and thick hair but Fancy Cuts has such affordable and reasonable pricing!! Booking an appointment with them is a breeze, I'm usually able to call a week ahead and get the exact time I want, depending on the service I'm requesting. Van always knows exactly what to do with my hair, I don't even have to show her photos as examples of what I want! For a full balayage, it took around 5ish hours on my medium-length hair. Van and Lucy work quickly and thorough, while making sure I'm comfortable at each step. After the final wash and dry, I always ask for soft waves and leave the salon looking amazing! Let me start off by saying that I was a bit hesitant to having to find a salon that will do my hair. I get it cut once every couple of years so it's hard to stick with one person. After searching all salons in my area I wanted to find someone with a high score and good reviews. I found Fancy Cuts on Hesperian. I walked in, did not make an appointment and Lucy took me right away. I explained what I wanted and showed an old picture of myself. I'm not picky but I was tired of my long hair. I explained I wanted it all chopped off with an A-line and color with a section of bleach. She did such an amazing job! After cutting down a section she checked with me on the length and baby I wanted shorter and that is just what she did. Amazing! I flippin love it! The hair cut was OK, but the hairdresser didn't seem verbal or communicative; she was not able to suggest any hair styles at all, so there was a communication problem. I have very short hair and just had a haircut recently but came to Fancy Cuts to fix it, as the previous hairdresser didn't do the style I wanted. The hairdresser at Fancy Cuts did an OK job, but charged me $25 for a very simple haircut, despite the sign that said $18 up. I asked why it's $25 and she said that it's because I am a woman. I swear that men at that place got much better haircuts cheaper, and I was paying extra just for being a woman, despite my very short hair when I came to her. When I pointed out the sign with $18 up, the hairdresser lowered the price to $20, but the whole situation left me with bad taste in my mouth. Love this place! Van is super sweet!!! I came in with grown out blonde hair... I was tired of dead hair at that point! I told her I wanted to grow it out but I had an awkward and ugly line of blonde where my roots grew out, as if an earthquake split the earth. So I wanted to chop most of it off (it was grown out to my lower back) and fix the color so it blends better. She did super good and my visit was pretty short!! Maybe an hour? I went here for a straight cut and curtain bangs. I was needing a haircut after messily cutting my own hair to a medium length when I was recovering from COVID in mid-January. Highly recommend her as she's very skilled, gentle, and communicated throughout the process.
