PERFECTION. Needed a salon close to home (I typically.. get my hair cut and colored overseas) so I saw reviews on this place close to my house. I sent in a request on Yelp and they asked that I text/call a number. After some interactions through text, a picture of what I wanted, and instructions that I wanted a 1" trim from the bottom length and a relayer, I scheduled my appointment a few days later. This spot is VERY Chinese. Lots of banter in the language but I liked the energy it gave. A little bit of a language barrier but I tried to keep it short and brief, and we "communicated" through photos of what I wanted, and what he could do. Almost all the chairs were full. I brought my son with me and everyone was nice to him (-: He was able to sit on a chair and wait for me while I had my hair done. Ming gave me exactly what I wanted. Basically a refresh. They were able to shampoo and rinse my hair, I was put in the chair, Ming and I had an exchange, and he went to work with precision and expertise. QUICKLY may I add.. I found my local salon. I was nervous about checking out a new salon but I'm glad I did. I scheduled an appt at 10am and I was promptly greeted upon arrival. I had my haircut done by Ming and he did a good job. I showed him a pic of what I wanted and he also gave me his professional advice since my hair is very thin and sparse. I wanted to try out a u-shape with very few layers so my hair can retain the volume. The u-shape turned out a bit more v-shaped but it still looked good. Only thing I would say is that I wish they used heat protectant on my hair before straightening it, since my hair is already very damaged from bleaching in the past. This is more of a 3.5 star review for me. I called to make an appt a couple days in advance, which was no problem. The lady I spoke to said there was a cash discount so I made sure to bring some. This salon is hidden in a little strip mall near Outdoor Supply Hardware. You wouldn't recognize it to be a salon from the outside, but once you step inside it's cute. There are some language barriers if you only speak English, fyi. But I thought I'd take a risk anyway. The cut begins with a wash. My hair was long, like almost-to-my-navel long. I asked to keep the length and only cut 2". I also showed my stylist some photos of the type of layers I wanted. He immediately measured and cut off 2" so I thought that was a good sign, and like a marker for him to go off of for the rest of the cut.. but somehow he ended up cutting off about 5", so now my hair is chest-length. He took his time doing the layers, but never checked in with me about the length he was taking off. It was disappointing because I wanted to keep my long hair long and just wanted a refresh of my layers. The quality of the layers isn't bad, but directions of what I wanted weren't followed. It's my second time coming to this salon and both times walked out happy. I have long fine Asian hair and wanted to have my hair cut. Ming did a great job both times. I just showed him a picture or two and he delivered. He is good at cutting layers and getting the bangs that I wanted which was exactly what I was looking for. The lady who washed my hair was a bit rough but people have different preference for the level of intensity.. The hairdressers here speak Chinese and little English. M2 Salon is located in the Floresta Plaza. This is a semi-busy plaza, but there is usually parking in this shared plaza. I have been looking for a new salon to get my hair done / fixed at that is close by, as my usual stylist is quite a far drive. This spot was recommended to me by 2 different people I know, so I decided to try them out. I came in about 1:30 PM for my appointment and my hair stylist, Paul was finishing up with another client. I came in with hair that was 3 different colors, so I was a bit discouraged if my hair could be saved, but Paul was realistic and straightforward on what he could do. I had to go a bit more dark than I originally wanted to, given the circumstances and I also ended up getting it cut, which I rarely do - a bit shorter than I would had liked it, but it was recommended for healthier hair. No major complaints, besides the process took about 8 hours (left a little before 10:30 PM). I guess the color / dye was not cooperating at one point, so had to redo it. Cute, clean salon with very nice staff. I came in to do a touch up on my balayage with Michael, however, he was very honest with what was possible/not possible based on the current condition of my hair. He was happy to meet me in the middle, based on reference pictures i brought in and I love it! Booking the appointment also went smoothly/no issues. The staff here are really nice and do their best to help you out. They also give you a cute robe to wear to protect your clothes + lockers for your stuff. I wanted to try out a new place since I wanted a big chop, and this place delivered! I really appreciated how much attention to detail they put in to my haircut. I would go back again if I wanted to dye my hair again as they seem to specialize in East Asian hair types. Cute neighborhood hair salon. They got me in last minute on a Saturday, which was super appreciated. I was in desperate need of a haircut and color over some grays and got seated as soon as I came in for my appointment. Eason is very skilled at the coloring and cut game - I love the time and attention he took to my hair. Docking a star though because a younger guy applied my color and did so unevenly to start (Eason had to correct with toner after my hair had already been washed and dried) so I had to stay at the salon longer than anticipated and after their closing time. That younger guy also has a rough way with handling hair, especially if you have thinner hair that's prone to tangles like me, and sometimes while he was applying the dye or washing it out, I felt like I was being tortured lol. But a big thanks to the salon for acknowledging the extra time needed to fix the first color outcome and offering to give me the haircut for free. I stumbled upon M2 Salon's Instagram page (@m2salon8) two days ago and immediately fell in love with their stylists' amazing and talented work. To note, I had been browsing Yelp and Instagram for awhile now, trying to find a hair salon whose work aligns with what I am looking for (for reference, my past hair history consisted of using box dye I bought from Target few years ago as well as doing an all over color treatment few months ago at another salon which had left me feeling very unsatisfied). I reached out to the salon via Instagram and they were very prompt with responding back and had great detailed communication. I had expressed to them my concerns and wants (primarily trying to get rid of orange brassy tones in my hair and covering up unwanted grey hairs). I personally really liked ashy brown tones in my hair, but I knew that anything ash would be hard to achieve based on my past hair history. Before you know it, I was able to book an appointment for today with Michael for a haircut and highlight session (and guess what? Michael and the team somehow magically was able to get me the ash tone that I had always wanted to achieve but was never able to at other salons). Michael and the team were extremely attentive and detailed with their work, making sure I was satisfied with everything each step. I did not have much knowledge regarding highlights as it was my first time doing this type of coloring service, and the team made me feel very comfortable in asking questions. The owner here is incredibly rude. today my friend drove nearly an hour from San Jose to San Leandro to visit this salon after confirming with the owner in advance the price for a perm. She was okay with the cost and then went ahead booked the appointment. Once she sat down, the stylist (Michael, who is also the owner) started cutting her hair. Suddenly he said, "Your hair is too long. You need to pay $50 extra." My friend was caught off guard and told him, "You should have informed me beforehand if there's going to be an extra charge." He responded, "It's just a small amount." It's not about the $50. lt's about transparency and respect. He waited until he already cut her hair and then tried to raise the price?!?! She told him she was not very comfortable with how this was handled. But whatever, she said she would still pay the $50. Then he said something that completely shocked her: "lf you don't want to pay the extra $50, !'l only perm half your hair. Or you can leave!" Wait ... what does "perm half of your hair" even mean?! He went ahead and explained that he will only perm the amount that the original charge would cover. My friend calmly told him this kind of last-minute upcharging is unprofessional. But Instead of trying to make things right, he became even more rude and kicked her out of his store! OMG...Such bad experience. I had such a great experience with the boss Michael! I had an appointment to dye my hair. He is incredibly detailed and attentive, always checking in during the process to make sure the color was applied precisely. My roots grew out and I wanted an ashy toned dark brown. He had to mix the coloring at different times so he can apply to each section of my hair (roots vs previously dyed sections) to even out the color. You can tell he truly cares about his work and his clients. He's patient, kind, and very welcoming. Fun to talk to as well. He has a great sense of style and even offered to take pictures and videos for me, which was such a nice touch. I also appreciated that he gave thoughtful suggestions on what would look best for my face shape without ever making me feel pressured to choose a certain style. It's rare to find someone who's both talented and genuinely considerate, but Michael is exactly that. Got a man's short haircut and paid $45 plus $4 credit card fee plus additional tips. Pretty expensive but haven't gotten a haircut at a salon since the pandemic. My hair is simple and there isn't a lot of options so the cut is similar to what I've been cutting myself albeit more tidy and shaped cleaner. However, I would expect a $45 cut to have a massage and scalp treatment experience or something extra. Not sure if there's still $15-$20 cuts available - if so that's what I'll do. Love this salon! Was a little hesitant trying out a new salon as the last place I went to totally fucked up my hair and charged so much. However, M2 exceeded my expectations so much! I came in with really uneven hair - my right side was shorter than my left. I showed the stylist, believe his name was Eason, my inspo photos, and he was able to recreate the look perfectly. My hair got cut shorter than I would've liked but that's because my hair was uneven from the last cut. He styled it really nicely and was able to fix my hair. I was super super satisfied with the look - first time ina. While we're what you ask for is what you get. I even took my boyfriend here to get his haircut and he loved it too. The stylists here have such a great attention to detail. Terrible, i went in for the first time and was quickly sent to wash my hair because of my appointmen, when my hair was being washed the man used extremely hot water and was being really rough with my scalp, using his nails, and then dried my hair reallt roughly with a towel, i doubt they even care if they damag your hair or not. I was too shy so speak out but i really should have. When i was seated to get my hair cut i showe the man 2 seperate pictures that heavily hinted at me wanting the back of my hair cut because the front was already simliar to the one in the ohoto, but then the man proceeds to cut the front very short, when i told the man he cut too much he pulled up the picture and gaslighting me saying thats how it is in the picture, but thats the same length when my hair is wet and not dry. Salons really need to take i account of where the hair would stand when wet and not wer. I ended up leaving with a karen styled bob forcing a smile. Im never coming back here again, its gonna take at least 8 months to retrieve the hair i lost read more

I decided to try this fairly new salon and they were able to fit me in on the same day. I got in at the right time as it started getting quite busy. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who offered me coffee while I was waiting. The hair artist who gave me my haircut was Eason. He speaks the dialect that I grew up with. I described the hairstyle I wanted in my broken Taishanese, and I'm so glad he understood and gave me some suggestions. I wanted something sleek and he delivered. Came here with my sister and mom for three wash + cuts. Nice, clean, and bright interior. We made appointments and didn't have to wait long. For actual haircut experience, it was great! There were two guys cutting hair, and both of them were very patient and did not rush any of our cuts at all. They would also provide my mom suggestions on how to style her new hair.
