Nick performed a miracle on Christmas Day. My key was stuck in my ignition. I tried everything to get it out and nothing worked, so I called a few places and they were already talking about replacing my ignition cylinder. Luckily, I called MS Locksmith and they sent one of their locksmiths, Nick, who arrived 45 minutes later. We got locked out of our house due to a faulty Schlage digital lock. It was during that crazy storm that rolled through Woodland Hills in Feb. 2023; 45 degrees, 50mph wind gusts, and leaving 10 inches of rain. My six-year-old and I were stuck outside in shorts and hoodies as we returned from a martial arts class. I contacted MS and Matan (owner); he gave me a fixed cost and promised Tom to be at our door in 20 minutes. Tom was at our house in 15 minutes. The rain and wind were brutal, and Tom was working while drenched, determined to get my daughter and me inside the house. Tom kept running into issues due to the lock, but still, he figured out a way. He ended up having to break the lock with a drill. He got us in, replaced the broken lock, and declined to take anything other than the agreed-upon amount. And that was it. He left into the night like a goddamn superhero. I can't remember having a service in any industry with the integrity and commitment that Tom showed. Understanding my predicament, he came through in a big way. This was a terrible and uncomfortable experience. I unfortunately locked myself out of my home, so I called, and they said they could arrive at the destination in twenty minutes. I agreed, and their serviceman came to my home. The man arrived and inspected the lock. He gave me a quote of $70, and I agreed. However, after he unlocked the home, he said the service cost was $260, not including tax. I understand that I am paying for their expertise, not the time, but if he had quoted me $260, I would have declined his service. He did not quote me $260; moreover, $260 does not sound remotely similar to $70. After noting that I had heard $70, the man chuckled and said, "We don't charge $70, and there's nothing I can do because I already opened the house." It became a he-said-she thing, but for this, the service provider should have put something in writing. He called his manager for a discount, saying I no longer owed tax. Not only was there a lack of communication and blatant lies from the service provider, but he also began to ask questions like if I lived alone or if I had a roommate. That is none of his concern, and I might have understood if he asked before unlocking the door, but he asked after. He is there to provide a service, and asking these sorts of questions, especially in his position as a Locksmith, a man who professionally knows how to unlock homes, is unprofessional and creepy. I understand that, as a customer, you may be in distress and want to get into your vehicle or home as soon as possible, but please, I urge you to use a different service. Update on November 1, 2023 Hi, Unfortunately, Yelp only allows me to reply directly to your message, but as I explain below, I already tried that, and my questions and concerns were dismissed. After the locksmith left, I called your business to inquire about what had happened, and the individual who answered gave me the same response that my name did not appear in your records. So now, on top of being unclear about the price, you are also discrediting my experience. Based on other Yelp and Google reviews, which I should have read more of before requesting your services, this is a recurring response when the customer leaves a bad review. In addition, the ambiguity regarding the price is also a frequent issue, and upon reading more reviews, it's evident that it is also a common complaint. The asking of personal questions does not seem to be a recurring issue, but just because there is no pattern of it or because no one else complained does not mean it did not happen. I know I am not going to get reimbursed. And to be clear, I am not looking for a free service.
