Three, maybe two-and-a-half stars. I went there the other day looking for a new vacuum. I'm ready to buy - as soon as I can figure out what I need and want. And I don't want to buy online if I can avoid it. I was helped, but the help was not very helpful. When looking at expensive appliances, one usually wants the details about performance, capabilities, accessories, maybe some comparisons. I got nothing. And there were very few models on the floor to look at - only two - and none of another maker I was interested in that Mr Vac claims to sell. I felt it was difficult to engage the salesperson and he didn't seem real interested in discussing his merchandise. A request for a business card and/or product information resulted in a pink flyer with glaring typos and a phone number written in Sharpie. I don't need fancy, but I do need competence and engagement, and I felt like I got neither. It's unlikely I'd return to this shop, when I can easily obtain more detailed info on the manufacturers' websites. read more

The staff was polite and courteous and when I went there to get a specific vacuum, they made sure I knew about the service and warranty. The shop was tidy and they are available when you call. read more

This shop is amazing, well maintained, organized, clean. Lots of sewing machines and vacuums at good prices. Scott, the owner, is very friendly and knowledgeable. I brought my mom's Dyson in for a tune up. It had been 8 years (we changed states) and the vacuum really needed it. I found this place by accident and my neighbor had used this business many times. I was really impressed with the service. Got it back and it works like new, looks like new too. read more

i wouldnt give them the right time of day, there rude, dont answer there phone.. and expensive

I purchased a riccar vacuum, basically, because it is built for multiple animals. It is the best machine. It out beats Kirby by a long shot. My ricaar just keeps going. The guys that work there are professionals, keep my machine working, and are friendly. read more

My sewing machine has never worked better! Great timely and courteous service. I would recommend this shop over any place I've been in my years of living in the valley. read more

Friendly and great service. Took sewing machine in for service and repair and although it could not be repaired, the service fee was applied to a refurbished machine. read more

Robin and Ramen are awesome people who do a fantastic job of providing excellent food and customer service at great prices. I like to go in and see them at least once a week (okay, twice and sometimes 3 times but hey, they have awesome food!). I highly recommend this people-owned small business. In addition to sandwiches and fries they also have salads and unbelievable desserts. Please stop in and see them. Tell 'em John sent ya. John Eastin Phoenix, AZ read more

Awesome place! After being disappointed with vacuums I bought from Costco, I came here. The rep was so knowable and got me a floor vac (Sebo) that I love! It's so much better than the vacuum I had from Costco (Miele). Plus they have a 10 year warranty and can service the vacuums there. I will come here for all future vacuums as I have not been impressed with Costco's vacuum selection in the past few years. Major plus they also work on sewing machines as well! read more

My brother sewing machine needed repaired. The store/shop was really clean and the person I dealt with was very friendly and helpful. My sewing machine is running beautifully, couldn't be happier, highly recomend them. read more

Scott and Ryan are terrific. Very customer-friendly and very customer- caring people. I brought my 54-year old Singer sewing machine in to them because I had a big sewing job coming up with heavier than normal material. They did a great tune up and the machine breezed through 8 yards of fabric to re-sling 7 outdoor chairs, one chaise lounge and two ottomans. Scott even did some sample sewing with the heavy material I was going to be using when I went to pick the machine up to demonstrate how the machine will do with the fabric. This gave me extra confidence when I brought the machine home to complete my job. I also us them for parts and tune-ups on my Panasonic vertical vacuum. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They are a pleasure to work with. read more

Ryan helped us out in trading in my old sewing machine and setting up the new machine. He said vaccums were his thing but he still seemed to know about the sewing machine's different qualities, features, etc. He quoted the price a bit lower than it actually was but kept his word and gave us the lower price. Good warranty, 10 day trade in, free lifetime lessons, and two free cleanings. Very helpful and kind, thank you Ryan! read more

They have what I needed for supplies. They were courteous. I have had my vacuum serviced there. And bought from them too. Experts and less expensive than big box options. Check them out! read more

I'm ashamed that these little snowflakes and I share the same vacuum repair guy. The guy provides a service, gets the job done, and for like half what the other guys charge. Is he from the east coast and maybe a little abrasive? Maybe, but I've never experienced it, cuz if someone talked smack to me i'd give it right back, ehh?!! EHH!!? GEEET OUTA HEEEYAHH. Hopefully the new owner has the same spine as the last guy. Otherwise the landlord will charge him more rent and new guy might say he's sorry and pay double. Sheesh... buncha losers on here... I'm gettin to oldfuhdishit. read more

I went to this store to buy a vacuum cleaner in September 2020. A white couple that was in there left as soon as I came in and there were no other customers there. There was a younger man behind the counter who did not come to talk to me and did not greet me. I said that I was looking for a Sanitaire, and was told they didn't have any in, couldn't order it, and I should just buy it from Amazon. They say they carry this brand on their website. I asked if they had anything similar, as I would rather support local businesses, and he said no. No attempt to sell me anything. I did not feel welcome, and will never go to this store again. It felt racist, because why else would you not sell a black haired, brown skinned tattooed woman one of the dozens of vacuums you have on display? read more

Update: My previous review is based on the previous ownership. New owner was kind enough to offer a second chance of repairing my vacuum. I would have taken up the offer had I not thrown it away and purchased a new one. I will give the benefit of the doubt to the new owner and reward for trying to make up for a bad experience. Thanks. read more

Worst place ever! Horrible customer service and employee attitude. Charged me for a 2 minute "fix" and then tried to upsell a tuneup. They did not even offer to put vacuum in my car read more

My Brother sewing machine was having a tough time- the tension was all off. I took it to Mr. Vac & Sew where they did a full cleaning and oiling. My machine is now working like new. Good pricing and good service and good results. The turn-around was a few weeks, but if you're not in a rush, I would HIGHLY recommend this place for sewing machine repairs. read more

It takes months to service my vaccums. They warranty vaccums up to 1 year, i had problems on 2 of my vaccums ,and took both vaccums in immediately . They take weeks to fix the problem. I am a business owner and need my vaccums for my business. It is ridiculous and unacceptable how long it takes to service or repair a vaccum. I been patiently waiting but it's absolutely ridiculous!!!!! read more

Really disappointed. We had a previous vacuum repair guy, but they shut down a while back, so we decided to give Mr. Vac & Sew a shot. Our carpet cleaner had stopped working, it had absolutely no suction, so we brought it in. Now, at our previous place, we generally saw a 1-3 day turnaround...but here, we were told that it would take a week. When we called after that week, we found out that there was some confusion as to whether or not we wanted the repair, so they never started it. Okay, great. So, another week later, it was ready to be picked up, and when my wife picked it up, she received a good scolding about how much pet hair was in the hoses, which was the problem. Okay, that's...great. Fast forward to yesterday, when I went to use the cleaner and...no suction. They didn't even test it before giving it back to us. read more

We love this place. We can get parts for our old Kirby. AND they service Singer Featherweights. So lucky to have them in our city.

I have a 1973 Kenmore sewing machine that needed servicing and repair. I found this business here on Yelp, while researching businesses with a lot of experience working on older machines. I am so glad I found Mr. Vac and Sew. I have noticed a sharp decline in customer service over the last couple decades, This is not the case at this company. Employee Ryan was a treat to work with, friendly and respectful, so much so that I was compelled to write this review. I highly recommend this company. My whole experience was fantastic! read more

These guys are great! Super nice and knowledgeable. I've brought my ancient vac to them a few times (once I'd even vacuumed up nails and they fixed it up) and brought my moms antique sewing machine in. They're great at what they do and I'm grateful for their service! My kids and I are starting sewing lessons so we'll probably be needing them on standby. Thank you guys, we appreciate you! read more

These folks are GREAT! We purchased a vacuum from them 10+ years ago and have never had a negative interaction w/ them since. We continually service our vacuum with them and they keep it spinning like a top! We had a challenge w/ the belt alignment and couldn't get the brush spinning & they fixed everything on the spot for free in about :02 (we had a full service less than a year ago). GREAT customer service& high ethical standards. The only place to buy a vacuum!!! read more

The guy at the store I think he is the owner extremely rude, very unprofessional and a lair! Save yourself the hassle take your business somewhere else. He accused me of stealing my vacuum cleaner I took to him for repairs. Why? Because I refused to argue with him about how I sign MY name on MY copy of store receipt. Insane another customer was in there with her children as he yelled at me saying I was shop-lifting and he was calling the police on me when I walked of the store with the credit card receipt and MY VACUUM. I'm not sure if he made repairs to my dyson vacuum cleaner I do know if you please PLEASE BEWARE HE RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL! He's a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PERSON! read more

Larry, the owner , is an EXPERT in vacuum cleaners. He calls it the way he sees it, which is probably why he has received some negative reviews. I just purchased an incredible American made machine that blows away my prior $1000 machine. Cost? $300...including 3 year warranty AND annual cleaning and service. I will never buy a machine at a big box store again. Thank you, Larry. read more

In the ever-increasing world of non-thinking, electronic shopping, this store is an AWESOME relief!! Every single time I have entered the store, even at their busiest times, I have ALWAYS been greeted & helped by their employees right away. And every single time I enter their store, I am given a great deal of help & respect -- even when I open my mouth and show my ignorance about how my vacuum does or does not seem to be working! :-) I recently took my Dyson into the store to be repaired & they thoroughly cleaned & inspected my vac. They charged me the lowest price I have ever been charged to inspect & clean my Dyson. And the work was done right the first time & on time. Their selection of new vacs is incredible & I plan on shopping there for my next vac. They have rock-bottom pricing, beating out any big chain store around -- Costco included. And they even beat any price you might find on Amazon. Why go anywhere else?! This place & their entire staff is simply amazing! Love it!! (And, yes, I'm a real customer). Stop in. It's worth the escape from the heat just to check them out. read more

The new owner of Mr. Vac & Sew reached out to me and apologized for the treatment that I received under the previous owner. I stopped in and had a great conversation about my experience there and I am convinced that there is a new dawn at Mr. Vac & Sew and I am changing my review to 5 stars. I now would not hesitate do business with them in the future and wish the best of luck to Chris as new owner of the store. read more

After reading some of the reviews about this place I was hesitant to stop in, but I'm happy I did. I can understand how some of the other reviewers could see how the owner could come across as a little brash, but he is just very straightforward. The biggest thing that surprised me about this place were the prices. I've searched everywhere and this place beats the prices of everyone hands down. He was even willing to order me a model he didn't have on hand at a discount. Eventually I settled on a much better model for only $50 more than the one I went in to buy. Overall it was the best experience I could have asked for and I really appreciated the transparent and direct manner that the owner handles business. I'll be going back for all my needs in the future for sure! read more

I will never step foot in this establishment ever again. I purchased a package of vacuum bags, when I got home I realized I had purchased the wrong size. I returned to the store a day later and Larry "Mr Ego" said there are no returns on vacuum bags. The package was opened but you could clearly see that they had not been used. He refused to exchange the bags for the proper size. I'm surprised he's still in business with his condescending attitude towards customer service. read more

Mr. Vac and Sew was finally sold to Scott and Ryan. What a breath of fresh air going in now. I took in a Tri Star vacuum and Scott was very nice and considerate when I dropped it off. Picked it up, took to my Mom who wasn't pleased with a number of things, primarily the color of the new cord. Went back in and talked with Ryan who said they will do whatever they can so my Mom is happy. They are probably still just working out some kinks. Definitely recommend them! read more

The repair work is fairly good I have been taking my machine there for years on one exception, the customer service is horrible After dropping my machine off for a service I was told to call after 4 for a repair price a few days later. After calling I was told I would receive a call about my repair price, it made no sense after I was told to call and expect my repair price only to have to receive a call back, from a sarcastic toned manager. I also asked the manager after waiting for my repair price how long it would take to fix my machine. And was given no time frame for a part my machine needed and was given the excuse they didn't have the man power to give me my machine at a reasonable time. Sincerely: ex customer read more
