Maybe it's because I live near by that I'm biased but I've been back 5 times in the last week alone since we discovered this place and it's just SO GOOD every time!! The flavors are spot on. You can choose the % of sweetness and 50% sweetness is just so perfect. You don't taste "power"...you taste "FLAVOR". My favorite is honeydew blended (which makes it into a slushie) with boba. There are several more authentic "tea" flavors (also delicious) to choose from as well. There are always macaroons on display and a sandwich to purchase if you're hungry. Also, there are board games to play while you sit and sip on the delicious drink and chew on the boba. It's probably one of the best boba I've had in terms of the chewiness - PERFECTION. I've seen numerous people study there so I believe there is wifi and the environment is quiet enough for working or leisure. Try it out! You won't be disappointed! When I first heard about this place, I thought, oh another bubble tea shop - not my cup of tea (pun intended). (The name also made me think of the A Team character with lots of gold chains, but I digress.) I never knew what was so special about bubble tea drinks, until (drum roll please) Mr. Tea's. Much to my surprise, I'm loving this drink. The hard working owner, George, places much emphasis on quality and it shows. I'm now into the black milk tea with coffee jelly - so yummy!!!. I am resolved to try other combinations. Since I try to limit my intake of sugar, I request Splenda (2 packets, per a fellow yelper) and the cheerful staff accommodates this request. The shop's decor is very pleasantly designed. Free parking is available, though you may need to try the second floor. Today I went to the Mr. Tea which opened to the public this morning. It was their soft opening but they still had many things available. The drinks offered were: Milk Tea - Black Tea, Jasmine Green, Roasted Oolong and Matcha Tea - Black Tea, Jasmine Green, Roasted Oolong and Hibiscus Smoothies - Mango, Passion Fruit and Peach Toppings - Boba, Coffee Jelly, Custard Pudding, Azuki Bean, Chia Seed and Vermecelli There was also a variety of pastries on-hand such as macaroons, cookies and cakes. The prices will range from small drinks about $3.50 to Larger ones that run you back about $4.25 depending if you add toppings or not. The have a few seats which you can also chill and hang out in. The parking sucks here and the seating inside is very limited. I also HATE the lighting here. I don't like working and having to have this giant sun beam of light right above my head. That being said, they've got a unique batch of toppings: There's azuki beans, chia seeds, aloe... plus my favorites: CUSTARD AND HAUPIA! I'm not the biggest boba fan because I feel like it distracts from the taste of the drink, but the boba here is truly chewy and delicious. Though spaces are limited, there are about 10 stalls total, just keep your eye out for ones that are marked for customers. I love that there is a backdoor to enter from the garage, so you dont have to walk all the way around. Upon entering, youre greeted by warm light and a tavern feel. With laid brick walls, wooden accents and chalkboard menus, Mr. Tea cafe does a great job making guests feel at home. They also have a bunch of seats inside and outside to enjoy your tea and get some work done. Now the menu, I am totally biased toward the milk teas and have not ventured to the other drinks, like their blended smoothies. Here are my favorite milk teas in order: -Jasmine -Sesame -Thai -Black -Vanilla Among other flavors are Honey Dew, Chocolate, Oolong and Matcha milk teas Toppings? My sister agrees with me as well, probably the best boba we've ever had on the island and I hope it stays that way! For sweet milk tea lovers: this probably won't suit your tastes. Mr. Bunny with hipster moustache? Yes, please. Free bubble tea? I'm there! Let me preface this by saying that coming here on their soft opening was horrible. Not because the product was bad or the people were rude. In fact, it was quite good and everyone seemed nice! You walk in, and there are a ton of people also trying to get their free drink... not surprising, but then you realize while it takes only 5 to 10 minutes to order, it's like half an hour to an hour to get your drink. They were super backed up, and the orders ahead of us didn't even have names on it! My group noticed that there was a large group ahead of us, but the wait was still ridiculous. Thank goodness the girl taking my order actually asked for my name! By the way, hi, my new name is Ellen because it was so noisy in there and we couldn't hear each other very well. Promotions aside, the bubble tea itself is pretty good. It's very milky but mixed very well so it's definitely not powdery. Not sure if you can adjust sweetness or whatever, but I heard some people say, "half sugar." The bubbles were nice and chewy but rather tasteless in comparison to other drink shops. I honestly think every drink shop has their own spin to their tea, so it really is a matter of personal taste. So if you like your milk tea to be light, milky, and subtle, this is probably the place. They have small trays of macaroons too! I got their green tea macaroon to nibble on while waiting and it was so chewy and tasty . I grew to love it more and more as we waited... longer and longer. There are so many bubble tea places around but I think that Mr. Tea Cafe isn't really one of my favorites. I was out walking by Blaisdell and I decided to get a really cool drink and some nice tea. The staff members looked hurried but they were still pleasant to me. I ordered the strawberry milk tea with the black boba and it looked pretty good. When I drank it, I felt like I was drinking strawberry flavored processed liquid sugar. It was so sweet and the boba ended up tasting okay but it was really hard to chew. This is another case of cute presentation but average flavor. Mr. Tea has this awesome mustache theme going on. Yes, it's adorable. They are a new boba shop in the same place as Greens & Vines. Yes, their boba is EXTREMELY chewy. Woah, toppings! Yes, they also offer vermicelli, azuki beans, custard, coffee jelly, and chia seeds (say whatttttt!). They have milk tea and regular tea. Yes, their tea is OK. BUT (and this is a BIG BUT), they don't have a large selection of flavors. For people who don't like milk tea too much like me, they only have 3-4 tea flavors. Milk tea also only has about 3-4 flavors, though I was intrigued by their matcha milk tea. I got the regular jasmine tea and everything was fine, it just wasn't too memorable. If for some reason you don't like boba, you can also buy smoothies and macarons which is kinda cool. The macarons are $2.50 each or $6 for 3. Everyone knows macarons ain't cheap! For cute mustache cups and a chance to try chia seeds, azuki, vermicelli noodles, or hibiscus tea, check out Mr. Tea. I'll probably be back to try one of those, or their matcha milk tea. If someone took the good things from Tea Boss & Taste Tea, put them together, added steroids, and fresh boba: you would get Mr. Tea Cafe. I understand Mr. Tea was here before Tea Boss, but Rachel and I have been here twice in the last week for the first time since their soft opening, and we've had our best boba experiences yet. There's just something about the atmosphere of Mr. Tea Cafe that makes us feel more comfortable. As far as seating goes, it's bigger than Tea Boss and smaller than Taste Tea, but you won't find a whole bunch of middle and high schoolers hanging out here in the night time. To me, Mr. Tea Cafe seems a lot more classy, seeing how they treat boba as more of an art than it is a drink. Another thing that sets Mr. Tea Cafe apart from the others is the fact that they use fresh boba. Before I went to the soft opening, I read an article about this place, and that is one of the things that grabbed my attention, and thought that it might be different from the others. You can definitely taste the difference in the fresh boba, as here it has a great taste and texture, and doesn't overpower the flavoring in the rest of the drink. Mr. Tea Cafe's menu has also expanded since their soft opening, adding smoothies and many different add ins to your drinks, for an extra charge, such as haupia, ice cream, rainbow jelly, aloe(!), and of course, boba. They also have some food options as well, offering macarons & paninis from La Tour Cafe. Also, if you aren't in the milk/tea/boba/smoothie mood, they sell bottled water and chocolate milk in a chill below the sandwiches and macarons. The boba was good. It's chewy and just right. My daughter made her own flavor and they made it. She ordered me Guava & Lilikoi w/boba iced tea. She ordered herself Wintermelon Milk Tea w/ boba and it was delicious. Tonight, we went back and I ordered Banana Milk Tea 50% sweet w/boba and taro custard. I wished the taro custard tasted like taro and much bigger custard. The flavor of the banana was spot on. Very interesting as I have never had a banana flavor milk tea before. For the lactose intolerant drinkers. Don't fret. They use non dairy creamer in their drinks. If you prefer almond milk, they have that too. With that said, the milk teas are not as creamy but still good. Menu is not over whelming. Plenty of choices to pick from and unique add ons. The cafe is not a large space. I went for 25% sweetness bc I thought it live up to its name & already be a SWEETish drink.. but silly me I was wrong .. I recommend to shoot for a 75% or maybe 100% sweetness level. The milk tea here tastes so full of flavor and makes taste tea drinks seen all watery. The decor feels very hipster-like just like how every other shop is in kakaako. The shop itself isn't as big but does a nice job of keeping the place looking clean. Service is awesome and I think it's pretty cool how they have a machine that shakes the drinks for them. Looking at the hours of operation it appears they stay open late all the way until midnight! Very impressed with my first experience here. I will be coming back more often. The cashier wasn't really friendly, not a smile. So, not a good customer experience, but I was just here for the topping. After my favorite bubble tea, Kung Fu Tea at Piikoi was closed down, I had to look for another bubble tea place. Their ginger milk tea was my favorite. Then I found Mr Tea Cafe. The interior is cute and modern. The atmosphere is comfortable with seatings conducive for studying or just browsing on your laptop. Their WIFI is free. There's also outside seating. I usually order their milk tea with boba and coffee jelly, and it comes in a cute cup with the mustache logo. I also chose 25% sugar since I don't want too much sugar. I like the fact that you can adjust the sweetness level. The only negative thing is that they only have a few parking stalls (about 5) in the building. Came here yesterday as a FIRST TIMER! I was in the Ala Moana area shoe shopping, when I realized I wanted a milk tea. Finally got to try those cute little mustache tea cups I've been seeing all over IG. Took me a while to find this place as I circled around and missed where the entrance to the parking area was. Parking is difficult here. When I got into the garage, there was no parking from the 5 or so stalls I saw that I assumed was designated to the store. So I circled around the block once more to see if there's any other place I could park and found none. I decided to go to another boba place in town and that was an unsuccessful trip too so I was determine to go back to Mr. Tea Cafe once more just so I can try their drink products. I went back half hour later and just my luck, someone just left and I got parking! Phew... I thought to myself these drinks better be worth it after driving around so much and to add to it, it was so hot that evening as well! As first timers, my sister and I stood there looking at the board pondering what we wanted. I like that they have a variety of tea flavors as well as smoothies and the option of sweetness you want. They had a long list of what you can put inside as well for toppings. My sister got the strawberry milk tea and I got the strawberry smoothie both with boba and 100% sweet. It was too sweeeeet! I mean I love sweet stuff but in this case, we should of gotten it a little less sweet. I didn't realize that they had used powdered flavor for the smoothie so that I didn't care for it too much. Maybe because I've been so spoiled by only getting fresh fruit smoothies lately. The milk tea was good though. Service was quick and friendly. I've been here quite a few times. Very pleased. As far as the basics: Parking - I come here between 7pm-10pm and I've always found parking in their garage. Interior - This place has relaxed vibe. Seating indoors and outdoors. Service - Friendly and efficient. I typically get a Lychee Smoothie or a Jasmine Iced Tea @ 25%. The Lychee was fine and tasted like any other in town. The Jasmine is always ice cold and just right in terms of strength. The boba is always fresh and the texture is consistent. Excellent casual let's get together for tea first date place. The interior noise level was enough to hear the person across from you, but not feel like others could eavesdrop. If all goes well, you could turn it into a dinner date at Green and Vines next door. They just do everything right. While I like the fresh smoothies at Shaka Shaka better, for the lower price of powdered smoothies, I'll keep coming back here. read more

This is my go-to boba milk tea place whenever I'm craving boba or milk tea! Best part about this place that I love oh, soooo much? They open as late as midnight!!! Let me start off by telling you guys how much I love chewing on their boba!!! Some may say that it's overcooked, but to me, I think it's a perfect texture and also has a little sweet taste to it... So it's not too plain. Whenever I stop by here at night (because I just finished work), I always end up with a fresh batch of boba that I ordered with my drink. You'll know because the boba tastes a little hot/warm, but that doesn't really affect me as much since the drink is already cold, so it cools down the boba pretty quickly. If you love your boba soft, maybe like a mochi texture? I would say, then this is the place. I'd have to say the texture of their boba is pretty similar to Thangs/Thanh/Hangs - who specializes more on smoothies with boba. My usual flavors to get would either be the honeydew, taro, or strawberry milk tea - you can have it blended for only $0.50 more! I like to get my drinks as a potted milk tea if I'm feeling a little artsy. I've tried the cotton candy one before because the color intrigued me... But oh my gawd I wanted to throw up after every sip. It's TOOOO sweet and has this gross aftertaste. Well, I never really liked cotton candy anyways, but I'm sure it's more favored with those who do like it. I also tried the matcha blended, and just WOW. It had a really strong tea taste. Which is both good and bad. They also serve other things like sandwiches and macarons. Now I really do LOVE La Tour Cafe's macarons, aka pretty patties; in which you can find a few flavors sold here as well. Not sure if MTC sells it from them, but it's pretty much the same size, texture, and taste I'd get from LTC. Somehow, every time I come here, they always serve my favorite flavors for macarons! Ex. cookies & cream, green tea, blueberry cheesecake. Parking can be a little tight. There's about 4 parking lots right next to the back door that they share with neighboring businesses such as Greens & Vines, and possibly 3 other parking lots a little further down. Other parkings are reserved or for residents of that building. If you're heading east on Kapiolani Boulevard, turn right to go into the parking lot. There's also another entrance if you enter on Waimanu Street. Service is always great. Every time I want to try something new, like their fruit tea (you get to choose your tea, and flavors to mix with!), I'd always ask the servers for their suggestions on which flavor or toppings goes well. They're always willing to answer without feeling like they're being bothered or annoyed. I can tell it gets a little overwhelming sometimes, with the amount of customers that sits in and talks SO LOUD with their friends. And how there's always big, big orders that they have to make. If you can bare with them, they still give GREAT service even if they're worn out, and I applaud them for that. Why minus the 1 star? Well if I have to be honest, I'd like to stay on the healthy side, but I could never resist. Mr. Tea Cafe's flavored milk teas are usually made from powder, not much of those natural stuff. However, that's never going to stop me from coming here for a fix. The flavors are super strong and enjoyable, in a sense that it's not too overpowering. Came here to waste time because the traffic was terrible one day. I had never been here before but my friend had and was like, "hey, do you like boba?" And i was like, "i love boba.*insert serious face here*" It's a small shop but it's well lit and clean. I was so confused as how to order because their menu board is hand written, BUT once I figured the flow of how to order it was a snap. I got the strawberry milk tea, 100% sweetness, and boba. You can change the percentage of sweetness also so that's a huge plus! They give so much boba in their drinks. I usually like to get extra boba from other places but from here, i actually had left over boba in my cup! The girl behind the counter was super nice and seemed like she really enjoyed doing what she does. I like the fact that they encourage you to stay because they have a bookshelf full of books and a couple of board games to play. All in all i would definitely return! read more

Overdue review! Stopped in on a Saturday night around 8pm to finally try their bubble tea. Ordered a black milk tea with boba per the cashier's suggestion and also picked up 3 French macarons. No line? Yaaas. And there was ample seating! Milk tea with boba (large size ~$4.25, boba is addl 50¢) - hm, not too shabby. Can't compare to the $1 large-sized milk bubble tea from Taipei we'd buy on the daily, but, eh, this may be one of my go-to places now. The boba wasn't squishy and nasty like i've had at some other places, and it wasn't overly sweet, which I liked. I normally get my milk tea less-sweet, but I don't really feel the need to order as such at this place. Macarons 3 for $6. (single macarons are $2.25 each) - red velvet, blueberry cheesecake, guava. Meh. I liked the texture - slightly chewy. But with many other macarons I've tried, sweetness overload. My bf loves macarons and I once did too, but I think the more I eat them, the more I'm beginning to notice the rip-off factor for what you're actually eating (this small little sugary cake/cookie thang for $2 each?!). I still will eat them, I'm just a bad judge of distinguishing a good tasting macaron from a bad one. Parking is decent - downstairs of 909 Kapiolani building - entrances on Kapiolani or the small back street - what is that street name, anyways? Sorry I don't know it off-hand. Stoked that there's a decent bubble tea drink place in town... and their hours, love places that open late!! Stamp card...buy 9 drinks, get the 10th freezilla!! We visit Mr. Tea Cafe about 3-4 times a month and it has become my personal standard when I compare other milk tea establishments and drinks. Mr. Tea Cafe has a variety of great flavors and toppings to try, but my personal favorite are the Taro and Wintermelon. I never had a bad experience at Mr. Tea Cafe, but decided not go there a handful of times when I seen the line out the door. It is a small shop in a a very high traffic area. The workers do a great job at moving the drinks out and do deserve recognition for their hustle. read more

I went there on Sunday and went back again yesterday. I think I found a perfect milk tea for me! Their roasted oolong is excellent. It has nutty flavor that I like. Yesterday I had roasted oolong & almond milk with coffee jelly. It was really tasty. I'm vegan so I am happy that they have different types if milk to choose from. They have almond milk but they don't have coconut milk yet but they said they would have it soon. The place is clean and staff is friendly. They have covered parking in the building. Hazelnut milk tea w/boba + added shot of espresso = yum Kumquat smoothie is also really good and refreshing. I live in the area so I don't usually drive here, but they do have a small lot on the bottom floor of the same building. Once parked you can enter through a back door that enters from the garage. Aesthetically this location is great, with high windows looking out towards Ward Ave and Kapiolani. They have a lot of seating for a small place and a shelf of books and games. Overall, no complaints. Place is clean and convenient so I'll keep coming back for my fix. read more

Wanted to try a new bubble drink place & glad I chose this one. I refuse on getting any other flavor than taro unless they don't have it, but which bubble drink place wouldn't? I got the taro milk tea with 50% less sugar. Just the right amount of sweetness. However, I would have liked to have a little less ice than I got. The cups are really cute and they also have macaroons and other pastries to have with your drink. Very limited seating inside. I was hoping this would be a new study place but I think I would just come here for just the drinks instead. Saved me tonight when looking for parking for Kamehameha Schools graduation at Blaisdell. My wife and her parents along with my 2 boys went to see my wife's niece. I was included in the plans but parking was sooooooooo hard to find I suggested I turn into their personal Uber driver for the evening. Parked in the customer stall in building nineOnine and entered Mr Tea- I ordered my usual taro/coconut 50% with boba (need other recommendations). The drink was ono and I sat and yelped for 40 minutes or so. Server was friendly and service was fast. 2 reasons for a 4 star instead of a 5- 1. The self serve ice water wasn't cold - I know i know.... 2. The music playlist, although contemporary and current, was filled with f-bombs and the N word. Not great choice of music in a family friendly establishment. -was thinking of actually deducting 2 stars for this... need to be a bit more responsible when running family friendly business- All in all- great drinks, hip and clean and free WiFi read more

Milk tea and macarons, it goes so well together! I'm so happy that a place like this exists and it's even better because it stays open late when you have those late night bubble tea/macaron cravings. The macarons that I tried was the guava, green tea and cookies and cream. It was all equally delicious and I really liked the texture of the cookie (crisp outside and nice and chewy bite) and the flavor of the filling. It wasn't too sweet, it was just right. It was thick and a good size to justify it's price point. I got the large matcha green tea with boba and it wasn't sweet enough for me. It had a subtle matcha flavor, but I guess I was expecting the sweetness of a Starbucks iced green tea latte which I love. In the large drink, they put a lot of boba (see my picture for reference). Overall, I will come and visit again and I can't wait until they have a full menu because right now, it's just their soft opening. It's pretty small inside. After my boyfriend and I left, I saw that they had tables outside, so it would be a perfect place to take your dog while you sip on a drink and eat their delicious macarons. I don't know if it's just the cute mustache design on the packaging of their drinks, but I love getting my milk tea fix from Mr. Tea. It's located the building at the corner of Kapiolani and Ward Ave, and next to Greens & Vines. Mr. Tea is a very small shop but it still has a few tables in there that you could hang out and enjoy your drink inside. I always get their Black Milk Tea with no boba. My hubby usually gets it with the boba and really likes it. There's no choice of less/more sweet, but whenever I come here, I find that the milk tea is the perfect sweetness for me. Their menu is very simple--not overwhelming but just enough options of flavors of tea and different add-ons, such as coffee jelly. Definitely get a stamp card--once you get 9 drinks, then your 10th one is FREE! read more

Ordered the honey dew boba with regular milk.. not sure why the drink was such a bright honey dew color. They must not use natural ingredients. Overall the taste was good and the boba was fresh and tasty. read more
