TERRIBLE service... Took like 10 minutes to even get us some water. Gave us menus, but no child's menu, even though young child (4 yr old) was clearly visible. Ordered food, which took around 30 minutes for part of our order to be delivered (4 sushi rolls, nothing special, and a child's menu teriyaki chicken), then took another 15 minutes for part of child's order (minus the fries) to be delivered (only after walking around to find an available waiter/waitress to ask where rest of food is)!Will never go back! The place at least deserves one star for the food. The sushi was fine, but I can get sushi that tastes "fine" at the grocery store. Bad part is that it wasn't even busy when we arrived... Adequate staffing would have prevented this problem. read more

My husband and I used to love coming here but our last two experiences were terrible. The waitstaff was surly and disappeared for long stretches of time. To top it off the the sushi was just not good. One cooked roll we got was actually burnt and the rest was not well made. Even the spicy crab salad was bad. It had big globs of mayonnaise in it. Good Sushi place, Not upscale, but great for lunch. Sushi is fresh and tasty and some of the best priced. Good chicken teriyaki if you don't want sushi. Its been too long ago for me to rate the Teppanyaki. If not the best in Lees Summit then 2nd best. Go to sushi place if staying in town. For dinner I usually don't stay in Lees Summit for sushi. Last Friday, my service wasn't the best, but two of us were the last of a party to show up and others in the party had their food. I'm not really a bad review giver, but I also have never walked out of a restaurant before. There's a first for everything. I was seated with my family young niece. We ended up waiting an hour without even a drink refill. They forgot my little niece's drink altogether. Keep in mind the place wasn't really too crowded either. There were maybe three other small families (4-5 people) there. My dad walked around to find the waitress to see how much longer the wait would be. This is our go to Japanese food place... Their Lees Summit role is amazing and teriyaki chicken hibachi style is to die for!

So last night, went with the family to Mr Sushi. I was not that impressed. First off the lighting is very dim, but I think I understand why as I walked on the sticky carpets. The inside temperature was like eating outside on a hot summer day. The sushi was pretty good, the main course was only ok. The staff seemed very attentive though. This place needs a major makeover. I should mention that if the carpets are that sticky, then there has to be a pest problem of some sort. read more

One of my top choices for sushi in the area. Staff can be hit or miss in regards to friendliness, but I always get quality sushi.

After walking in, my date and I waited for 45 minutes before being informed we were forgotten and then ended up having to be seated Bc we were going to be late for our event. I used to come here once a month when they first opened, a long time ago. The service was great back then. Was here recently. We sat for 15 or 20 minutes before our drinks even came. Another 15 minutes before our food order was taken. My food was delivered to another table and it was at least 30 minutes before the waiter even noticed let alone had it remade. My husband and I came in a bit early, so we were the only ones in the entire place. We were greeted well and sat down in the sushi area of the restaurant. People were friendly, but there was a lack of professionalism; people on their phones, one guy in a Ninja Turtle shirt. There were things that clearly could've been done, like scrubbing the walls or ceiling. The place is pretty dirty. Water stains and dust on the ceiling, at least. The food was fine. I'm not a huge sushi eater, my husband enjoyed it more than I did. We got refills in a timely manner and left in a good mood. Next time we might try the steakhouse part of the restaurant though. read more

Mr Sushi is a regular stop on my list of Lees Summit places to eat. I pretty much stick to a Squid Salad starter and get some combination plate (depending on how hungry I am). I've been to plenty of sushi places in KC and Mr Sushi has the best combination of fresh sushi, great service and affordable prices. No one else in my family likes sushi so I usually go solo and Tan & Brian have always made me feel right at home. There's usually a game on the TV behind the sushi bar too. read more

I am completely impressed by the quality, freshness and taste of the food at this establishment. The unagi melts in your mouth. They have a playoff roll that is fantastic. Crab salad is so unique and incredible that you may have dreams about it after having it. I ate here on Saturday (for the second time) and already I want to go back! read more

One of my favorite places to eat. Not a fan of sushi (wierd I know!!), so I've only eaten their hibachi. I've eaten at several Japanese Steak houses in the area and have to say they pale in comparison. Their salmon and filet are phenomenal, strip is good too. The amount of food you get is A LOT. Never had a bad experience here. Atmosphere isn't anything fancy and needs to be updated, but employees and staff are friendly and quality of food trumps that. My family and I have been going to Mr Sushi for several years. We've gone to other Japanese steakhouse establishments, but always come back to Mr Sushi! The staff is amazing; they know our children by name and ask about them when my husband and I sneak out of the house and go there alone! :) The food is awesome, both on the sushi bar side and the tempanyaki side. The Ichi roll is one of the best sushi rolls I've ever had. My daughter and husband are addicted to the crab salad. The prices are very reasonable for the service and quality of cuisine! We've recommended Mr Sushi to so many friends, it's like 'old home week' when we go there! Once you're a fan, you never stop going! read more

The sushi is great. I am a fan of fish, not rolls and the nigri and sashimi are excellent. The service can be slow but so what. The udon and soba dishes are also very tasty. The place is just too big. Perhaps the steakhouse side fills up at night but I am only interested in the sushi bar. read more

I came here a couple weeks ago for my friend's birthday celebration since hibachi grills are one of her favorite places to eat at. We came with a group of about ten, arrived around 8:00 on a Friday night. The place was busy, as we suspected and we started out being okay with standing at the bar and having a few drinks as we waited for a table to clear. It was 9:40 (!!!!!) before a table was finally cleaned off and we were seated. Mind you, two or three tables had cleared well before 9:40, it just took the staff about an hour to decide that they wanted to get us seated and make our dinner. At that point, half of the party was too hammered to even desire eating and just wanted to leave. The folks behind the bar seemed annoyed with our party ordering rounds of saki (guess they weren't interested in making money..?) and by the time I ordered my first round when we were finally seated, the man brought me a sake flask that barely filled over one shot glass, saying that was all they had left. Our chef who worked the grill was pretty cool but obviously wanted to get out of work ASAP, seeing as they closed at 10:00. I will say the food was good, I ordered the shrimp with steamed rice. Though I ordered miso soup, my order was ignored and I was served regular soup along with everyone else. I'm left to assume that at that point, people were only serving what was left in the kitchen prior to closing and they were not willing to continue making anything additionally. I tried a couple pieces of my friends sushi -- Definitely nothing to ride home about. The spicy tuna tasted very odd. By the time I got my check, argued about the validity of charging me full price on the sake, and watched all of the other guests argue about their checks, I was more than ready to get out of there. Needless to say, I will try my hardest to find my friend a WAY better hibachi grill for next year's birthday. read more

I went to Mr sushi 6 years ago, and when I had the sushi then it was incredible so me and my boyfriend decided to go there. I don't know if it was because the game was on but the staff seemed to be in a rush they brought out our bill withing 20 minutes. I had ordered the unagi, spider roll both were very bland. As a native South Floridian I was a bit wary about how land-locked Missouri sushi would be. Honestly, my expectations were bleak, but I was pleasantly surprised. My husband and I got two very different rolls (he got the Playoff Roll which is fried [he also had soy paper substituted in place of seaweed] and I got the BRT Roll with added cream cheese) and we both absolutely loved our meals. No complaints about the food whatsoever, it was delicious. The reason I'm rating it 4 stars versus 5 is for two reasons. First being that we had to make our order with pen and paper versus talking to a waiter, which isn't terrible except for the previously mentioned fact that we had to adjust our order. Granted we just wrote in the changes we needed and they complied so it wasn't a disaster, it just sort of takes away from the convenience of talking to a waiter. The last reason is because of the atmosphere in general. It's sort of run-down looking on the interior and needs to be remodeled desperately. I can look past that but when I went to use the restroom it was less than clean and the trash can was over flowing with paper towels that were also piling up on the floor. Not the best way to end my meal. Overall I just wish that they were more personable and took care of cleaning with more efficiency - regardless the food was top notch so I'll most definitely be returning! read more

They need to update the inside of the restaurant. Not many chairs for people to sit when they are busy. We got hooked on their Lee's Summit roll. We usually order by phone and go pick it up. They close the restaurant in the afternoon for about two hours daily around 2:00 or 3:00 Unexpected they do that. Been on the Hibachi side and it was okay. If we eat inside we go to the sushi side. I always ask for extra sauce on the LS roll and staff seems shocked by it and only give really small amount of extra sauce. read more

About as disappointing as it gets. I have been coming to Mr.Sushi for years, and I will not be back after tonight. Order was wrong, rolls were loosely wrapped, fish was beyond chewy and smelled. We left 3/4 of our food on the table. When we said something to the waitress the response was 'yeah I completely understand'... No offer to fix our order ether. Only reason I gave 2 stars was the fact the green salad was delicious. read more

I'd like to begin by stating that the staff at Mr. Sushi were polite and understanding. That being said, I'm sad to say that what used to be a place I loved has majorly gone down hill. A few years ago I went there with a cousin of mine and our waitress had a dirty bandaid on her hand that she touched all of over plates. I was appalled, but I spoke with the staff and they got me new plates, silverware, etc and notified the waitress. I personally had my reservations about going back, but I went with high hopes that the cleanliness of the establishment had changed for the better. Unfortunately, I ended up disappointed. My waitress still handled food without a glove and there was hair in my sushi. Not only that, but the sushi was off temperature and slimy. I would recommend staying away from this place until changes are made. Changes I would be happy to see, as I stated, I used to love the place. read more
