I treated my friend to lunch at Mint Sushi this week, and we had a MARVELOUS time! From the outside, Mint Sushi is a modest storefront business in a strip center. But step inside the door, and you've entered an Asian teahouse that's welcoming and cheery. The walls are painted a bright mint green, with paintings of herbs and an entire wall of customers' photos celebrating their birthdays. The place is open and airy and the tables are spaced well so that one is dining in a communal place but can still carry on a conversation in some privacy. Shelly and Lin-Lin were our servers, and they were AMAZING! Shelly greeted us and was a most hospitable hostess; when we asked for a table nearer the windows, she was happy to oblige. Both Shelly and Lin-Lin guided us through the menu, answering our questions and giving us thoughtful recommendations for food and drink choices. Our meals were EXQUISITE! My friend had the Chrisnana roll and I had the lunch special of two rolls with onion soup. Both were plated beautifully; we took photos because they were utterly charming! The Chrisnana roll was delicious; the banana was surprising but melded with the savory sushi flavors. My California roll was a perfect blend of crab, avocado and cucumber wrapped in perfectly-cooked rice. And my Sweet Potato roll was mouth-wateringly delectable! There was a crisp topping on the roll which perfectly complemented the sweet smoothness of the potato filling. Both meals were reasonably priced and served quickly. When my friend and I lingered to talk, both Shelly and Lin-Lin checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed, but we never felt rushed to leave. They were so friendly and genuinely happy to have us join them at the restaurant--it was such a warm and welcoming experience! We'll definitely be back, and we'll bring more friends! I think the most disappointing thing about here is the Kani salad, in the northeast when you order it, it serves at least two people. However, the plating was nice. They did a fine job at that, I am out of town and I can only compare this to Mr. Sushi, and I would say that this place, while smaller, is better than Mr. Sushi, I would repeat. Got this for carry out and was so very pleased! We had a big order, tried a lot of rolls and a few hot dishes as well, everything was absolutely delicious and one of the staff even pulled out all of my to go containers to ensure everything we ordered was accounted for, so nice! Hands down the best sushi in Lees Summit! Presentation, flavor and service are top notch and the atmosphere is calm with good vibes. We always try different rolls but always get edamame and crab Rangoon because they are consistently our favorites, they just do it right. This is probably the best sushi restaurant I've ever been to. The restaurant was quaint and almost empty so I wasn't sure what to expect. There was a bit of a language barrier, but my order came out perfectly. All the food I had was amazing!!! I had a lobster roll, a shrimp tempura roll, and a combo fried rice. My wife's food was excellent as well. She had the crab rangoon and the spider roll. She also had the plum wine. It was also delicious and I had the Bahama Mama. The sushi was very good and the presentation artful. The atmosphere is very plain, but every table was full which to me means that they focus all of their attention on serving good food. Not pictured - volcano roll, which was amazing! Finally sushi, after 8 long pregnant months, I was finally able to eat sushi! Haven't gone to Mint Sushi. So my MIL decided for us to try it & it sure didn't fail! Safe to say, I'll be asking for more sushi tomorrow. Only thing my MIL noted was she tried to order for pick up & they stated there would be a pick up charge. So she went in to order in person. All of the 4 rolls were amazing, but I could have been good without the blaze roll. Add a side of ponzu sauce and it took care of business. read more

Very consistent food and service. Haven't been let down yet. Fairly quiet and calm environment, kind employees. Not a huge building, and they don't ever seem to be super packed. Which is nice as a guest. Not sure how much business they get, but I definitely think they deserve more! Great little hole-in-the-wall that does a rip roaring take out business. Friendly, attentive staff. Food comes out quickly. I had the Black Dragon Roll, Daikon Maki which both were a beautifully presented and extremely fresh and delight to the taste buds. My partner is not a sushi lover and enjoy the red curry chicken. The appetizers, which are pretty much standard (good) crab rangoon and gyoza (pan fried) arrived at the table hot. The ambiance was fun. Do not let the lack of a physical sushi bar make you second guess a stop here. What an amazing find. I am a sushi junkie and find a sushi bar in every city I visit. This was such a great surprise. They have a TV hanging on the wall in the corner scrolling through their specialty rolls and dishes. They were served exactly as pictured. The fish was fresh, perfectly prepared and delicious. The lunch roll special would be hard to beat anywhere. The rolls are each 8 pieces and affordably priced as two or three roll deals. I will be back anytime I'm in the Kansas City area. read more

I always love ordering from here. The menu is large and has something for even the pickiest of eaters. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Even when I order it for pickup, it's still fresh by the time I get home. The Ramune is so refreshing and has tons of flavor options. The employees are always cheerful and friendly. The restaurant is airy and light, while still feeling cozy. The interior design is unique compared to typical sushi restaurants, in a pleasant and inviting way. I hate to say I'm disappointed... but I'm disappointed. There were great reviews so I decided to try. Ordered to go and they quoted me 35 minutes until it was ready because they were busy. I come in and they say okay they're still working on that you can take a seat, I asked if they know how much longer because I got there 40 minutes after I was quoted 35. (I didn't ask with attitude, I work in the industry too so I was genuinely just curious.) They said okay we'll get it right out to you, and they had it out to me in less than a minute. So 5 stars for good service It was a tempura roll. Small, and that's okay. It was good However, if you're going to charge for spicy mayo- give me an amount worth charging for. They put it in the smallest ramekin known to man. It wasn't even enough for one roll, I had to get another just to finish my one roll of sushi lol. They charged me a dollar for maybe 1/4 an oz of spicy mayo Lastly, I start eating my edamame and none of it was hot. Most of it was still cold, and I'm talking like it just came out of the fridge cold, not like it had been cooked a while ago and sitting. I guess I could've caught them on an off night... it just made me sad because I was really excited for good sushi and for the price I paid, I wish I would've saved my money read more

Mint sushi may have some of the best sushi I've had in the KC area. We ordered the spicy crab salad and the crab stuffed jalapeños. They were absolutely delicious! When you're in spaces like the Midwest, you really can't be too picky with the options for Asian dining. My friends and I were all craving some sushi before a big event so we drove out to the nearest spot for fishies. Low and behold, we stumbled upon this spot which features my favorite color- mint green! In fact, if you have a problem with the color green, then you may want to back away slowly. The interior here is littered with green accents. Mint Asian Cafe not only focuses on American sushi as their selling point, but they have a variety of Chinese influenced dishes as well. Their lunch specials were what attracted us initially. You could order three rolls for about $10 and it also comes with soup. Splurge a little further and you can opt into a stir fry with some rolls. My lunch plate came with a shrimp tempura roll, salmon roll, and tuna avocado roll. Each was fairly simple by design and tasted as I expected. While they weren't anything to rave about, the fact that the sushi was done well in an unlikely spot makes me a fan. I'd recommend trying out some of their specialty rolls since they delivered with the simple ones. Free parking is available in a massive dedicated lot outside. read more
