I treated my friend to lunch at Mint Sushi this week, and we had a MARVELOUS time!…read moreFrom the outside, Mint Sushi is a modest storefront business in a strip center. But step inside the door, and you've entered an Asian teahouse that's welcoming and cheery. The walls are painted a bright mint green, with paintings of herbs and an entire wall of customers' photos celebrating their birthdays. The place is open and airy and the tables are spaced well so that one is dining in a communal place but can still carry on a conversation in some privacy. Shelly and Lin-Lin were our servers, and they were AMAZING! Shelly greeted us and was a most hospitable hostess; when we asked for a table nearer the windows, she was happy to oblige. Both Shelly and Lin-Lin guided us through the menu, answering our questions and giving us thoughtful recommendations for food and drink choices. Our meals were EXQUISITE! My friend had the Chrisnana roll and I had the lunch special of two rolls with onion soup. Both were plated beautifully; we took photos because they were utterly charming! The Chrisnana roll was delicious; the banana was surprising but melded with the savory sushi flavors. My California roll was a perfect blend of crab, avocado and cucumber wrapped in perfectly-cooked rice. And my Sweet Potato roll was mouth-wateringly delectable! There was a crisp topping on the roll which perfectly complemented the sweet smoothness of the potato filling. Both meals were reasonably priced and served quickly. When my friend and I lingered to talk, both Shelly and Lin-Lin checked on us to ensure we had everything we needed, but we never felt rushed to leave. They were so friendly and genuinely happy to have us join them at the restaurant--it was such a warm and welcoming experience! We'll definitely be back, and we'll bring more friends! Thank you so much for a delightful time!

We had a great time at Gyu-Kaku last Saturday (Nov/8th) for the 3rd time. We absolutely loved our selections that included the quality & variety of the meats, tasty appetizers and yummy dessert. We felt a perfect sense of satisfaction & accomplishment when we finished our meals in time with zero waste. Gyu-Kaku webpage is easy on the eyes & fun to navigate which provides customers a clear overview. The room setting is elegant and friendly. The staff are knowledgeable and courteous. We happened to run into the new store owner Frank who seems to be very personable. Frank answered our questions patiently & effectively. I highly recommend Gyu-Kaku to anyone who seeks fine-dining, fun atmosphere, competitive pricing, accountability & sustainability.

You couldn't go pick yourself and they brought the three items you picked per time. We went weekday so it was okay, but if on a busy time, I could imagine you couldn't get much to eat or time since there is a 90 mins limit if you have a or of people, it may not work well. The green tea ice cream was pretty good not too sweet. Our server was pretty nice.

I could buy some frozen fried rice from costco and coat it with soy sauce and I wouldn't have known…read morethe difference. It bums be out too because at one point I felt the fried rice was one of my favorites, now it is just dry and bland. The teriyaki chicken was good, no complaints there, but I would like to be able to have a bite with just fried rice and not feel like it still needs something. Service was good. Maybe a little pushy on the water refills. It's like they saw us taking pictures and were giving us reviewer treatment. I'm not saying that is the case, but I felt it was forced and awkward regardless. Regarding the insides, there is a small and quiet sushi side, and the loud hibachi inside. It has the kitschy but endearing japanese asian aesthetic and is usually clean and well kept. Salad was sweet and good. Soup was served to us warm, not hot. Drinks were pretty tasty, I prefer their Geisha over the Mai Tai.

The salad was yummy, but I didn't care for the soup--it was lukewarm rather than hot. The fried rice and teriyaki chicken were a little dry, but the shrimp was really good. Our cook was more focused on just cooking rather than performing, which was a little disappointing since the hibachi show is part of the fun experience. The service was very attentive--my water was never empty, which I loved as someone who drinks a lot of water at restaurants. However, it was almost too attentive, as the server would refill it before it even got halfway down and would come over very abruptly. I still had a good time, but I'm not sure I'd rush back. The prices are pretty high for the quality of food, and I'm sure there are better hibachi options out there.
