It was a weekday after work. I went to my homegirl's house because I missed her birthday I offered to take her out someplace nice. She said no way man and immediately said we were going to this sandwich shop. This was the only thing she wanted. So we were gonna veg out on her couch. Have a couple cocktails and whatever else and watch something on TV. And her new couch is the bees knees. For me, the sandwich was perfect. The bread was beautiful and crusty. I was afraid it was going to be toasted and too crusty, and I'd be fighting to bite it and my sandwich guts spilling out while cutting up my gums and the roof of my mouth like it's Captain crunch or something.. BUT NO! It was PERFECT to bite through. They load you up with the meat they're not stingy. And the sauces... BABY! The aïoli was fantastic. My only beef is that horseradish aioli needed a little bit more of a kick, but that's a personal problem. My friend got the chicken Caesar and I see why it's popular. It is so garlicky and delicious. I already have plans on what I'm gonna get next time I go and I don't live close so it's gonna take a special trip and I intend to make it.

But every once in a while, you have to throw the diet out the window and let the sandwich win. And this sandwich won. I'd post a picture, but apparently my wife and I decided photography was less important than eating it. We absolutely demolished it before either of us thought, "Hey, we should take a picture." Even better, one sandwich was plenty for both of us. Generous portion, incredible flavor, and every bite was worth whatever guilt I was supposed to feel afterward. Next visit, I'm going after the steak sandwich. If it's even half as good as this one, I may have just found my new favorite sandwich spot. 10/10 -- would happily skip the diet again.

Earlier in the month, I was finally able to check them out for the first time. I had my eye on their Italian hoagie, which is listed under the Cold section, but I know better at this point in time of living in the South and the many Italian hoagies that I have had to refrigerate. So I ordered it without the tomato or peppers and served cold. I ordered it through the bartender, who told me that they do serve them cold and that they were out of peppers that day. Turns out they were not out of peppers and they did not serve it cold. I can't eat peppers due to food sensitivities, so I sent it back and asked for it to be re-made. This was the bartender's mistake, from the receipt I could see that he didn't send those notes to Fat Kid, to be clear. The second rendition was made correctly, and it was definitely tasty, but they are overpriced. It's pretty obvious from my picture that this wasn't some hefty, super stuffed and loaded with meats/cheese hoagie. It looks like a normal 6" hoagie. Not worth $11 for it, in my opinion. I'd rather spend $16 at Stanley's or $10 for a full-size at Mr. Submarine.

House made Pastrami was delicious-go with the 1 lb (buy the pound) Pastrami sandwich -at least 2 if not 3 sandwiches in one. Corned Beef was also tasty and some of the best we've had. Latkas and Dill potato salad hit the spot but the Garlic Dill fries stole the show-one of a kind and not to be missed. For dessert, we saw they had Hamantaschen and got one of each-both very good with rich fruit spread topping. Service was engaged and patient (given our questions and recommendation requests) as our order was being placed. An extensive menu with everything from Beef tongue sandwich (Jewbano) to Chicken Liver as well Hot Dogs and Smoked Salmon and Whitefish. We wanted it all! My daughter's friend, who is Jewish, had recommended it. We were told there was a 25 minute wait, and we were told we could hang out at the store next door. My wife had the chopped chicken liver appetizer and the potato latke appetizer. The food was very good and the service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely go again. They close at 3 pm and are NOT open for dinner.

No signage, not detailed on the menu, just an ambush once you've placed your order. It's a bs fee to begin with, but concealing it until the last minute is unethical. We were surprised by the size of the restaurant when we walked in. It seems smaller from the outside; not that it was huge, just deceiving. It reminded me of a homey Jason's Deli (IYKYK). The woman at the counter was helpful and kind. We had a few questions about some items on the menu, and she asked the kitchen staff anything that she didn't know offhand. We decided on the fried cauliflower for an appetizer; it was monstrously huge, and much more flavorful than I expected. The spices and textures on the plate added a lot to the dish's overall essence. I ordered the Rachel for an entree, and my partner ordered the Sharona. I subbed the chips for a side salad. The salad was tangy or tart, almost bitter. I didn't mind; I thought it was quite good. It is a lot of acidity if you are not expecting it. The Rachel was fantastic, except that the coleslaw had some onion bits mixed in. We are not onion fans in this household. Ha The Sharona would have been a better choice, as I much prefer pickles to oniony coleslaw. My partner said she really liked hers. We had half a sandwich each for leftovers the next day, and shared the leftover chips, since I finished off my salad the night before. The sandwiches heated up exquisitely in the oven at 325°F for 15 minutes. I felt that Susie's is a definite hidden gem, and I can recommend it to anyone who likes a well-made sandwich. I will be back to sample more of the menu and report back my findings at a future date.

Staff was super friendly, especially Jeff, and there was way more seating than we expected. Love the outside tables too so pups can join.
