Our office has been coming here for years and the service/quality of food has always been amazing. Just recently they are now under new ownership and quality of food has gone down hill significantly. What used to be a big sandwhich filled with plenty of meat and toppings has now dwindled down to two slices of meat.. if you're lucky. Our order has been wrong the past three times and We tried explaining this to the owner as we wanted to continue coming here but they didn't care and just shrugged us off. I ordered 2 sandwiches from this place, and when I went to pick them up I only received 1 sandwich. I showed my receipt to the owner, and she said it was for 2 small sandwiches. It was not, by the way. So she went to the back, cut the sandwich in half, and put them in tow separate packages. So at the end I ended up paying for two sandwiches and got one sandwich cut in half. These sandwiches are so good it's sometimes baffling to me how you can somehow assemble ingredients on bread better than other sandwich shops that are supposedly doing the same thing and yet this place tastes waaaaay better. No doubt it's likely due to the quality of their ingredients and preparation, but I'd like to imagine that there is some sandwich sorcery going on in the back kitchen that makes this place so great. The service here is always exceptional - although I frequent many places in the Irvine/OC area, this place was the first to quickly remember my face and my order and now regularly greet me by name whenever I enter the store and even occasionally throw in free treats like cookies and drinks. Mr San-which is in proximity to John Wayne Airport I thought what the hell let's give her a whirl as one would suspect eating at a local place would be far superior then eating processed food at an airport restaurant. Upon ordering I scanned the menu looking for a deli sandwich most could identify with focusing on Italian cold cut. When I placed the order I mentioned to use light mayo and Italian dressing asking them to add Provolone cheese they highly recommended the French roll. Quote, "we make it here, it's the best." The man at the counter processed the order handing me the number they would call it out when the order was ready for pickup. They finally called out the number and I practically feel out of my chair it was the most bellicose and obnoxious "number 74" imaginable. Sat down unwrapped the Italian Sub only to discovery the roll looked looked like it was procured from a grocery store 50% rack also taking notice the roll was mangled. After taking the first bite and what was supposed to be added to the San which was mayo and Italian dressing tasted and that was not the case. The only identifiable taste to compare it to was an eel sauce one would find at a Sushi place. The Salami looked like it had seen better days when Salami looks gray you better stay away. The Ham and other cold cuts were fine it's just a bummer when one protein component does not appear worthy. Another place I found because of Yelp. I typed LUNCH into the FIND area of Yelp today, and this was the first thing to pop up that caught my attention. I ordered the Italian Cold Cut Sandwich on a French Roll and grabbed a bag of Salt and Vinegar Chips. My total was under $8 and the sandwich did a good job of filling me up. I didnt realize it had oil and vinegar on it, so it was very soggy by the time I got back to work and got to the end of the sandwich. Other than that, it tasted really good.
