This place always satisfies my healthy cravings. Although the sandwiches can be pretty hefty, which is a great thing! I told myself I'd only have half because that's how large these cold sandwiches are but I couldn't resist the other half. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich. As is. And it was delectable. I like to add a bit of salt to mine but it's not really needed. All the ingredients always taste fresh and the squaw bread is so soft and compliments the veggie ingredients very well. Such a hidden gem here in Irvine, located next to k1 speed in a small business plaza, I wasn't sure what to expect for my first time trying Larry's Deli, I drive past it almost every day and decided to give it a try! The French dip sandwich was amazing, lightly meddled with horseradish so it's not too overwhelming and the meat and cheese were both abundant. I definitely souped up the rest of the aus ju after finishing the sandwich, I have to say for $10 this sandwich really lifted the bar. The potato salad was really good too, not too firm or too watery, tasted great! The lady at the front is super sweet and my sandwich came out relatively quick. Spotted this small sandwich place tucked in a small strip. Immediately was drawn to their egg sandwich, similar to San-do, but with a thicker layer of egg salad and addition of a generous portion of alfalfa sprouts (game changer), carrots, lettuce, and tomato. A hidden gem inside of a small strip mall in Irvine. I pass by almost every day, and I decided to finally walk in and see what their offerings were. A sweet woman named Cathy greeted me as I walked in, gave great recommendations, and was very friendly. I ended up getting the Wall Street, and was surprised by the quality of the sandwich. What a gem of a sandwich shop and I love that they have squaw bread! They're located in an industrial plaza with indoor and limited outdoor seating. I assume they cater primarily to the working lunch crowd because their hours of operations are limited to the weekdays (2:30PM close) and they're closed on the weekends. Prices were reasonable and there is a great variety on their menu with tons of healthy options to choose from. I got the Chicken Choice on Squaw bread (comes standard) and throughly enjoyed it. This quant but tiny cafe/deli has some great sandwiches. Being so close to my office, it's a short walk to pick up a great sandwich. I love their egg/chicken/tuna salads. They go great on the squaw bread with all the veggies(carrots, lettuce, tomato, onions). I love that they have lunch specials. I usually get the Thursday pastrami lunch special. The service is very fast and courteous. The nice cashier sends the order back to the kitchen where a nice lady runs out each order as they are made. The seating area is small but comfortable. They do have some outdoor seating for those that prefer some sunlight during their meal. This deli always satisfies my craving for egg/tuna/chicken salad. I had been coming here for years for lunch without any issues until one day I came in and ordered the Ham and Cheese lunch special and was given Turkey instead. Well I hate Turkey and went back to the counter to tell girl I ordered the Ham and Cheese special but got Turkey instead and she said "well today's special is Turkey." Okay... so I asked for Ham and Cheese though so can I just get that instead please? "No I'm sorry that's what the special is today you'd have to pay for a new sandwich." I honestly thought she was messing with me but nope she was serious. As I was starving but not enough to eat the Turkey I reluctantly paid for an entirely new sandwich. My two 'to go' items would be the Chicken Choice or Chicken/Avocado Sandwich on Squaw Bread. I even get the Chicken/Avocado in a wrap too. Chicken choice is a chicken salad mix with sprouts and cashews (yum!). Initially I thought cashews in a sandwich was weird but the crunch adds a nice texture and sweetness. I've tried other options but I always gravitate back to these two selections. I think the reason why I liked Larry's so much is their squaw bread. It's always so fresh and not dry like the stuff I find at the grocery stores. I've tried to replicate at home but it just doesn't taste right. Highly recommend trying! It's a healthy alternative if you work off Von Karman or surrounding areas. Call your order in. There is typically a lunch time rush but service is quick. 15 min top for waiting. Otherwise make sure to grab the pickles and pepperonis in the fridge! The pickles are nice and crispy! *Look for the boar's head patio furniture. Hard to find sometimes.
