The actual food (rice and chicken )was okay but a bit bland The corn cakes were dry and old like they had been made hours in advance. They come in 3 didn't even eat one The mixed chicken was very underwhelming but tasted decent and worked well with the hot sauce The hot sauce being the only delicious item The fried chicken was acceptable but it wasnt worth the price Very expensive for basically bad food Now this was the worst part I ordered the tres leches cake or three milks. Literally a cake that is soaked in milk. The milk was spoiled and not just like maybe I am not sure. Expired like it was days old. It was rancid. Very good food and absolutely a good change from the usual Chinese and pizza. My only gripe is the service which is... meh.. I've had much better. Also the woman who packed my order to go wasn't very smart. My bag literally fell apart as she tried packing my entire order into one small white bag. Let me start off by praising the quality of the food ( thats what earned them the 2 stars). My wife and I live very close by and returned to eat here after a poor experience with the server. Well, nothing has changed since our last visit. It appears that the server here could care less about customer service since the bill already has a built in 20% tip on it. I have heard of doing this for parties of 6 or more but never for just a party of 2 ! It's too bad a place with food this good has an employee with such poor people skills. I speak pretty good Spanish but I'm sure she could tell I wasn't of the same heritage as she was. Her demeanor was more or less indifferent. She could care less if we would come back or not. We just had an awful experience here. Food was bland and uninspired. It took to long and when we finally got it it wasn't good. The waitress was too busy chatting with another table that she completely missed my husband's order and only put in for me and my kids. Initially I wanted cherry valley next door, but couldn't resist Colombian food once I saw the place. It is not packed and have room to seat a baby in a high chair. The mini bandeja tipica which is usually a dish I get at all Colombian spots was amazing . Took a while for it to come out but the server gave us some bread during the wait . Mr. Pollo's typical platter is just delicious- steak, rice, beans, avocado, chicharron, maduros (fried yellow platanos/plantain), and an arepa. Their hot sauce is really good also. Yum. It's a little expensive, but it's worth it. If you get full really fast, you might be able to eat this and have leftovers! They have a huge menu but I've never had anything but the typical platter. They also have flan and tres leches, and Colombian sodas. I believe they deliver in the area, but you can also call ahead and pick up. Awesome! read more

The food was good but took a long time to come. Probably waited about 20 minutes at the table for it to come. That waitress though needs to work on her serving skills. She did not bring us menus when we walked in or even make sure all of us had forks and napkins at the table. We actually had to get up and grab our own menus and extra forks. my wife and I come here often to eat in. Most of there business is take out as I could see from the high volume of phone calls for orders. Mr. Pollo is columbian food, expect generous portions. I would recomend this place to anyone who enjoys spanish food and large portions. I recomend trying the sirloin steak platter. read more

I am downgrading them to 2.7 stars. After recently ordering take out again we were a bit disappointed with how non-savory the meat was. We ordered 2 'a la criolla' dishes and it just looked like the meat was floating in a watery soup- not at all what we were expecting. This is the worst Colombian restaurant I have eaten. I do not what is worse at this place the food, the service or the prices with the tip throw in. The rotisserie chicken flavorless and dry. The chicharron( pork crackling) was a slab of fat with no meat and the skin like eating rubber. The bean tasted like if they were canned. We did not even get the avocado that supposed to have come with the plate. The service is more like self service, they give you a tray for you to take your food. And for the lousy service and food you get charge a whopping 20% tip. We did not even get the receipt to see the breakdown of the charges. read more

Every time I order they seem in no mood to take anyone's order. The single empanada used to be $1.50 now bumped up to $2.00. They used to be huge and so yummy. Now, they are smaller and thinner. I made this order over seamless. I waited over an hour and I didn't receive anything. I decided to called the Resturant to see what happened. They said it was already on the way. Then they called me back 10 mins later saying that the delivery will be leaving in 10 mins. I told them to cancel the order. They called me back twice more harassing me to accept the order. I was looking for the opening of this place. What a MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!! First time I went had to wait 20 minutes just to order. Then had to call the waiter and ask for our drinks, the meal is nothing special. It's not my surprise of the extremely bad and mediocre service since TIPS are INCLUDED with the bill regardless of the amount of people. Second time I order on line and the order went to the other HORRIBLE location in Whitestone, but the good part the owner delivered the food. I have to give something positive to them. BUT I couldn't pay for the food in bayside since the order was place to Whitestone. third time this is the last time I would EVER order or eat at that place!!!!!! I placed the order online and it goes to pay there. I click cash the default thing to do. I choose to pay cash or credit. Well to my surprise they didn't let me pay credit card. The cashiers had a terrible attitude and that's not my surprise! Seriously. Even the manager spoke to me on a broken English pretending to be fluent in English when clearly she doesn't know. And I follow her conversation in perfect Spanish since I'm also from Colombia. What a bunch of ignorant a rude people!!!!!
