Sadly I wanted to try to eat the fresh noodles and came here at 1:25 on a Sunday and they were out of the fresh noodles which were sold out already. So had to get the regular thin noodles. This place is a new pho spot that is located in the same plaza as Aldi, TJMaxx, and Starbucks. The parking lot is usually pretty busy and during lunch on Sunday it was. For the price of Mr. Pho, it wasn't what I would want to pay when the broth was not as tastier as in other places. At our table, there were three people, and instead of getting three plates of bean sprouts and basil they only gave us two. It is quite a small portion. The rib pho was a little too overcooked and it was hard to get the meat off the bone. So happy a Pho restaurant opened in Walnut! Usually I like to give 5 star reviews, yet experiencing this restaurant's soft opening, I must say how it needs drink and appetizer improvement. My wife and I tried, mint tea, jasmine tea, and Thai coffee milk tea. All three were basic/ poor tasting, considering their price. For example, the mint in mint tea were old and left at bottom of cup, not tasting minty. The spring roll was very thick. I had many Vietnamese spring rolls, and I never had one that tasted like it had three layers of rice paper. The insides of the spring rolls lost their taste, and they definitely needed peanut sauce. Fortunately, the pho were great! The broth was perfect and the size of searching was worth it. I was surprised this restaurant only had one size bowls, yet I could tell it's theme of contemporary service of old tradition. I would come back for pho again. He's so busy working as a cashier, & packing food to go that he has no time as a waiter. Several tables need to be cleaned up so that new customers can sit down. Was excited to finally see this place open up! My hubby, youngest son, and I went for dinner tonight and weren't disappointed. We walked in to a spacious and pretty dining area and were immediately greeted and seated by the friendly host/waiter. The menu is fairly basic with a few items and a few meats, definitely not the typical Pho joint with 79 different combos of food. The menu was a bit confusing...they have icons on there but nothing on the menu telling you what the icon meant. For example the chicken and shrimp pho have a chicken icon, and I was wondering why since shrimp is not chicken. But the server said it was because they use a chicken broth. Then the appetizer shows the egg roll with a pig icon because it contains pork, but the spring rolls which also contain pork do not have a pig icon. Prices are higher than the standard pho places, but I guess you pay higher prices for nicer ambiance and thicker napkins (you pho lovers know what I mean). But what they do, they do well. We shared the beef combo pho, the vermicelli with chicken and the chicken rice plate. Everything was tasty and beautifully presented and the portions were generous. I really enjoyed the chicken, there was a decent amount on the dishes and it was tender and seasoned well. My husband's only comment was that he wished the broth was seasoned more. I think he meant that it lacked some of the aromas and flavors typical in a pho broth like star anise. Not sure if this place is affiliated with Pho Ha because I saw a gentleman come in wearing a Pho Ha shirt and he was going in the back and conversing with the employees like he works there. First time visitors after reading the many positive Yelp reviews. This restaurant needs to be added to everyone's "must try" list. I had never eaten Vietnamese food until this visit and I definitely became a fan. The interior of the restaurant is very inviting and clean. Tables and booths were well organized, great music was playing overhead and the lighting was perfect! Service was second to none from all employees especially our waiter, Alan. Alan answered all the many questions I had about Vietnamese food, checked on our table every so often, refilled our beverages without waiting to be asked and he was very friendly, hard-working and very professional. Thank you Alan. And now to the reason we were here, the food. My family and I ordered a chicken vermicelli salad, a shrimp vermicelli salad, spring rolls and a chicken and rice salad. Everything was DELICIOUS! First time tried out Mr. Pho and it's located on Grand and Valley and it's in the same plaza of TJ Maxx/Aldi. I'm so happy that there's another pho restaurant opened in Walnut. The place is so nicely decorated and spacious. We first checked in on Yelp and they gave us free Jasmine tea and green tea but they tasted so plain like water. Then we ordered #1 beef pho combo, build your own pho (I chose filet steak, beef ball and tendon- up to 3 proteins), charbroiled beef rice dish and crispy calamari. The beef pho combo ($16) had filet steak, brisket, flank, fatty-brisket, and beef ball inside. It was a huge bowl. However, the soup base was little bit salty though. My build my own pho ($15), you can choose up to 3 proteins and they have thin noodles, fresh noodles (+$1) and egg noodles to choose from. The filet steak quality was not bad and they gave me generous amount of ingredients. The charbroiled beef rice ($15)- white rice, cucumber, roasted peanut, bean sprout, pickled daikon, carrot and fish sauce. I highly recommended for this charbroiled beef rice. It was flavorful and delicious and it was my most favorite dish compare to the other orders. The crispy calamari with spicy mayo ($7)- it was okay and I'm not a fan or calamari so I cannot give comments on that. Overall it was not bad but not impressive either. Service was attentive and good. For the money wise, it's on the pricier side for the Vietnamese pho and there are many competitors in the Rowland Heights and Diamond Bar area. $58+ tips for Vietnamese lunch, it was a bit expensive. We got there around 11:15 and ordered: - 3 phos: 2 build your own and 1 pho combo. YUMMY, ORDER IT! Both my kids and hubby liked it - bun with grilled pork: it also comes with 1 cha gio. As delicious as the taste is, i feel that the pork is way too soft, to the point that I'm missing the meat texture. It's too pillowy soft! And I'm also missing the crushed peanuts in my bun. If there was any, I think they only put very little. Egg roll tasted very good, just too bad they use regular egg roll skin and not the traditional Vietnamese rice paper. I wanted to try the Vietnamese sandwich (Banh mi), but was told that sandwiches wouldn't be available until after 12. My kids also wanted to order garlic noodle with filet mignon steak and was also told that no stir fry available. Very disappointing. Service was ok. One of the best PHO I tried. We came to try this place, and we were all very impressed with everything we ordered. I had the PHO combo. All types of beef were high quality, tender, and delicious, and the soup tasted amazing. I hope the quality of the beef will be the same as I taste today. We also shared the Saigon Sandwich (Banh-Mi) with pork. The baguette is fresh and crispy, and the meats are very tasty. My son loves it. My other son ordered the rice plate with a choice of beef. Heads up, if you are in a hurry, you might want to order PHO instead. It will take longer for the rice plate to come out. However, it is worth the wait. The rice plate is also very satisfying as well. Thanks to the grand opening special, we all got a cup of ice Royal artichoke tea on the house. The drinks are great too. We haven't tried the pho just yet, but we love love love bahn mis! They have chicken, pork or beef and it's pretty filling. My friends and I tried this restaurant for the first time for lunch. I had the Saigon sandwich with pork ( as recommended by our server) and my friends shared the bone marrow pho. I had the Thai iced tea while my friends had the hot tea ( forgot the flavor. The order came out fast. My sandwich was good, but nothing to really shout out about. I'd order it again regardless. Came back to try pho since I was craving something warm on a cold day. Definitely much better than the banh mi. Ordered the beef combo for takeout. Upon opening it, I was surprised that the beef wasn't cooked yet and instead I had to dump it in the soup myself. It was a bit strange but at the same time I appreciated this way so it wasn't soggy/over cooked by the time I ate it. Pleasantly shocked by how huge the bowl was. All the different types of beef were so good and filling, and the pho was the perfect chewiness. This have been my go to place for pho recently. I like that the broth is light but still flavorful, and I don't feel overly thirsty after eating it like some other places. The pho noodle has nice texture and there's also a good amount of meat in there. If you're coming in with your kiddo and not super hungry, one bowl is enough to share. Let's start with the positives. Generous portion, nice decor, friendly staff and excellent service. I have been wanting to try this place out since they were still building it MONTHS ago. We really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately, Mr. Pho is a "NO" for us. We knew that this wasn't the pho place that we had hoped it would be when they brought out the veggies. That was an ominous sign. Four bowls of pho and one strand of basil on top of a bed of "tired" and brown bean sprouts. It doesn't sound like a big deal. However as a pho lover, the vegetables - a preview to a delicious, hot and flavorful bowl of pho to follow, are just as important. The plate of vegetables is judged by display, quantity AND quality. This was not a good sign, but we kept an open mind and were really hopeful. The portion of noodles were very generous, awesome! The temperature of the soup was piping hot, amazing! The brisket was nice and tender- WELL DONE! The oxtail and short-ribs didn't fall off the bones, but they were more tender than the ones we've had in Santa Ana, which I give them credit for. Sadly though, the taste of the pho soup fell flat. It wasn't as flavorful as the ones that we're used to enjoying. It wasn't terrible, but we were not impressed, which is a bummer since we wanted to like this place. I think this is a one and done place for us. We went here after watching a YouTube video from Rainaiscrazy and everything she ate looked so good. My wife and I shared the short rib pho which was really good. The price is a bit high at $19, but they give you a lot of food and the meat seemed high quality. Some on Yelp said the short rib meat was chewy, but I didn't experience that. If you keep the short rib in the steaming hot broth longer, I don't think you'll run into that problem. We also got a chicken rice dish which I thought was also excellent and the chicken was really flavorful. Anyway, I would definitely go here again. I don't know if the short rib pho is worth the extra money, so I'm not sure I would get it again since it's pretty expensive for pho, but it was definitely good. read more

We came on a holiday and we're glad it was open. This is why I'm attributing the quiet atmosphere. Service was good as we were only about 3 tables. The Short Rib Pho was generously served. The veggies (sprouts , limón, basil) were served in a very small plate, which is sad because old school spots give you a giant plate. I also think it might be because of the clientele type. The beef rice dish was interesting. The meat was good. I like the well-done aspect of it with burnt end tip taste. The rice was different. No carrots & daikon, only cabbage. Drinks are tasty. I like that they have real fruit ingredients and don't taste like soap. Iced Lychee Jasmine tea was refreshing and had 2 lychee pieces in there. The iced passion Jasmine was also good. wow I'm very very impressed by the flavors of the food I tried today and that's high praise from someone who has lived in OC all my life where there is a mecca of Vietnamese food For the past few years, I've tried to find a Vietnamese restaurant to satisfy my craving since I started at CPP. If the food I had is any indication of the quality of the other dishes, I'm excited to try more! It's a warm day outside so spring rolls and vermicelli bowls are my go to because of how refreshing they are. I got the Vermicelli with Charbroiled Pork aka Bun Thit Nuong and the Pork and Shrimp Spring Rolls. Food: The vermicelli came in a very generous portion. Good amount of meat, lettuce, purple perilla leaves, bean sprouts, pickled daikon and carrot, and a hefty amount of noodles. It comes with a very garlicky fish sauce which is essentially the dressing. Most places I've tried in the area water down the fish sauce so it doesn't have that extra punch of flavor that this dish needs. I was very pleased by how good their fish sauce was. The meat was already flavorful on its own with good charring. The aromatic of lemongrass is the most present. Quality of the bean sprouts were a bit suspect since they were kind of dark and browning but they still tasted okay. Overall, an incredible bowl that really reminded me of the flavors I get back home in OC. I also enjoyed the pork and shrimp spring rolls and they're perfect if you want something light. I usually opt for a side of fish sauce for dipping but it usually comes with peanut sauce. The pork and shrimp tasted fresh and they didn't skimp on any ingredient either. I liked that they put the purple perilla leaves in the spring roll as it's one of my favorite herbs in Vietnamese food. Garlic Noodles with Filet Mignon: This was absolute FIRE! One of the best versions of this dish that I've tried. The sauce on the beef was super savory and full of umami and flavor. I liked that it was just the beef and onions because I dislike when they add bell peppers as filler and I'm just not a fan in general. I do have to say that the flavor of the garlic noodles is lacking as it didn't really offer much flavor but there was a ton of sauce from the beef that ended up flavoring the noodles. I wasn't sure how to feel about the type of noodles they used at first but I actually ended up enjoying it. The noodles are kind of like the ones you get when you order Chinese lobster. The beef was insanely tender! Not sure if they're actually using the filet mignon cut but it was really good. They even asked if I wanted it medium rare or we done. I would for sure order this dish again but maybe with rice next time. It comes with a side of onion, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. At first I thought it was just going to be plain but it was actually lightly dressed and I actually ate it all surprisingly even though I don't like eating vegetables that often unless they're done right. I know that this restaurant just opened so I hope to see that they maintain the quality and standard. The service was great as well which can be hard to find at Vietnamese restaurants. Keep it up! Oof!!! Mr Pho is a PERFECT find for those whose love Vietnamese food, especially PHO. This is a modern restaurant which just had their soft opening recently in April. They have QR codes for the menus or physical menus for you to look at. You can make your own Pho and you have the choice of thin or thick (fresh) noodles. I got my own bowl with thick noodles and filet-steak. The broth was really clean, hearty and beefy as well. The staff were all very attentive, responsive and were super friendly.
