Mr. Keyman in Oceanside was recommended to me by Home Depot, because I was looking for a part to an old lock that is no longer made. I actually thought it was going to be a wasted trip, but to my surprise they actually had it! Not only did they have the part, but also cleaned up my old door knob and made sure it was working properly. I left a very happy customer! If you need auto keys, fobs, etc. do this: 1) Stop looking, this is the guy you want. 2) Skip his website, it is not currently too great. 3) Call him, or drive to his location. I called, I got a text back within 10 minutes. He is a busy guy, but communicates well. I had four cars that needed things, that I had been putting it off. I needed copies made, key fobs programmed for cars that didn't have them, etc. John came out at 8 pm, and took care of everything I needed in under an hour. He was very thorough with making sure every function worked each time. His prices are good and he has some very sophisticated equipment and really knows his stuff. We needed to have a new front door handle installed on the inside and outside. There were 3 parts to this installation and one was not the correct size even though we measured it before ordering (from an online company unrelated to this business). John was able to do the job correctly even though one part didn't fit. He used one old part from the door and adapted the 2 new pieces to it. It was a complicated job and he worked really hard to make it work properly before drilling through our door. It looks great and works really well. He also made an extra key for it. I had 2 key fobs with blank blades for a Chrysler Town and Country that I needed programmed and cut. After talking to the dealer in Escondido, who wanted $150 and didn't guarantee that they'd do it right, but you still need to pay $150, I figured I'd go where everyone else goes. I called Mr. Keyman and talked to John. I told him what I needed and he let his team know that I was on my way. As soon as I got there, Matt knew who I was and what I was there for. One associate started cutting the keys right away, while the other went out to start programming the fobs. I can see how he balances his customer service with his employees. The gentleman that helped me had the most upbeat pleasant personality and excused his bosses behavior just because he is from East coast area. How is that okay? I came here to get a replace key and fob for my GMC Yukon. Matt the manager was there and made our key but he never mentioned that the key fob he had was a Chevy one. It was only until my husband asked him before he programmed it if it was original. He said no and that's when I told him we wanted a GMC one. He wrote down our name to call us when he got more GMC fobs. He was going to charge me $120 just for the key fob but I found it cheaper and I called his store to see how much they would charge me to program it. The guy on the phone said $45 but when my husband and I got there Matt was there. He got mad that I got the key fob on my own and he said it was going to be $85 to program it. I told him I had called earlier and they quoted me $45 he got mad and said my key fob didn't work but I ended up going to a different locksmith and the remote did work. read more

Mr. Keyman is awesome. Not only is he a cool guy, but he's super accommodating. First time I called him (and I'm sure I'll have many many more) was because I needed a fob, push start made for my dads 11 jeep that was sitting for a couple months. His arrival was prompt, I was running like 5 min behind, but that didn't stop him! He finished the key and had my dads car jumped for me by the time I got there!! That's just how people should do business. He didn't NEED to jump it for me, he could have had me do it. It's just the little above and beyond things that makes a business stand out. Second time, my lock on one of my doors is bad and I didn't realize it could make it a possibility to lock my fob INSIDE my car.. especially with the car running... and with MY PUP inside!! I called Mr. Keyman, got a voicemail and decided to hangup because it sounded like a personal phone line. John called me back about a minute later and apologized for being on the other line. He was able to get out to us in a couple days (as our needs weren't urgent) AND he gave me exact quotes for the work to be done. John not only kept his appointment time, he sent a text 1 hour before arrival, and 5 minutes prior as well. He was courteous, efficient (in and out in about 30 min), and price was exactly as quoted. Here is the thing, John owns his own business, does all the work, is a local, and is keeping the idea of providing thoughtful and exceptional service alive. When John was rekeying my front door, he noticed that the frame was set incorrectly, went to his van, got a drill and fixed it... because he could. Received quick service today getting 2 chipped keys for my Ford Fusion. This place has been recommended to me several times, was happy they could help me. Saved at least 150 dollars and probably several hours by not going to the dealer. FYI my key transponder died and the car security system no longer recognized the key.
