Today was my lucky day. I had called Lemon Grove Honda to get a price on a new key after our old one broke. Just to program the key was $200 and the key itself was gonna be another $100. So all in $300 for a new key to a 2012 Honda Accord! That's insane. A quick search of yelp and I discovered that you can get car keys laser cut and programmed by R&J Locksmith! And for a fraction of the price I was quoted at the dealership. I called up Roy and told him about my trouble. He said no problem he'd take care of me. He came to my house which was super convenient. He got here in about 1/2 an hour. Once he got here he quickly introduced himself and got down to work. My Schlage Encode Plus lock on my front door suddenly quit working, of course when I'd left the house and forgot to bring my keys with me. The keypad wouldn't light up at all and I unfortunately never got any notifications from the Schlage app on my phone that something was wrong. I'll start with the positives, which earned the two stars--they arrived quickly to my location where my keys were locked in the trunk of my car. The work took about 3 minutes and the trunk was opened. I have no idea who came to "help" because he didnt even acknowledge me or answer any questions. He was completely RUDE and disrespectful. They would not give me a price on the phone and the man arrived and started doing the work and still wouldn't give me a price until it was fixed, even though I asked multiple times and expressed that I needed an estimate first. He ended up charging me $200 for the 3 minutes of work. The speediness was great but absolutely zero customer courtesy. Not the person you want to deal with when you're a woman stuck alone in a parking lot in the dark in an extremely frustrating situation. Do better. read more

Maybe it wasn't intentional but sure felt like bait and switch. Said it would cost about x amount but need to see. When they came to see, said it would cost more because of the kind of lock it was. After trying to jiggle it, couldn't finish it and said we owed for the service call anyway but if we wanted them to drill it out it would cost more. Started to drill out and then said due to the type of lock replacement it would cost a lot more. At that point I had enough of the wild ride and just paid him off without the replacement. The next day I had property management replace the lock which cost me around $30. I was charged $250 with the final result of drilling out the old lock to get in but with no replacement. I could be wrong but they estimated they could have replaced the lock for $150-200, which would've been a total of $400-450. Would've been better to stay at a hotel for $200 and have property management charge the $30 for a total of $230. ***Update He replied to my review and said he "looked up my phone number" but couldn't find it and it's not him. I never even gave him a phone number to look up. Anyway I added the venmo payment screenshot. Don't do business with this guy. Find someone who can provide at least the bare minimum in decency and service. He'll go so far as to deny that it was him on Yelp, real grimy. And look at all the other reviews from Adam P., This G., Vishal S., JoAnn D. that describe the same type of behavior and ethic. 5 legit reviews about shady practice out of 16 is more than enough to help you make a decision on how you'll experience doing business with this place. read more

Horribly over priced. Prompt in response which was great, but quoted me a $30 trip charge. Lock on my slider was out of alignment. He said it would prob run in the ballbark of $130 if that wasn't the case, even if he had to change the lock, which i thought would be high. I was SHOCKED to get a bill (without a company name or lic # (provided upon request) for $220...he was there for 30 min! That's $380/hr! Very disappointed in the business practices of this individual. He knew the make and model of the car and wouldn't provide an estimate over the phone. We told him we were in a rush and he said he could be there in 25-30 minutes and he arrived an hour late. Other companies we called for an estimate were more honest about their ETA and provided us with an idea of how much it would cost. He charged $230 which was apparently a discounted price off of the absurd $280 he wanted us to pay. If he had been honest with us from the start about timing and cost I wouldn't be disappointed.
