Jim is legit. I had done all my research on every security keypad lock out there and thought I knew my stuff. The previous locksmith who installed Schlage locks for me was not very experienced with the system and took three times as long to install. He also didn't know how to program (hence why I spent forever learning and doing for him). Jim doesn't even need instructions manuals. He's so experienced that he read off the instructions in his head to me (while i had my manual to confirm). He's amazing at problem solving while being honest, fair, and ethical. I think his prices are very reasonable compared to the other quotes I've gotten. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again. What other locksmith goes above and beyond. Jim does :) read more

Jim was immediately responsive, provided an accurate and reasonable quote, arrived quickly and fixed my lock with a great sense of humor and courtesy. Would highly recommend read more

I received a call from a locksmith about the keys I need for an apartment. The phone conversation was fine and he had mentioned the name of the property management so I assume he's contracted out. He asked me to text him my name and phone number and the address to confirm our appointment. Then he texted me this. My property management took care of the issue for me but here I am posting that whoever this was is a creep. read more

I don't usually get excited about having locks re-keyed on a Saturday... but Jimmy the Locksmith somehow made it entertaining. He came out to my office on a Saturday, re-keyed five locks at lightning speed, and had me laughing the entire time. Great attitude, incredibly professional, and clearly knows his craft. It's rare to find someone who is not only excellent at what they do but also genuinely enjoys helping people. If you need a locksmith, save yourself the hassle and call Jimmie. Fast, funny, dependable, and reasonably priced. I couldn't recommend him more highly. read more

Absolutely the greatest. From my call to having my new keys was less than an hour. Five Star service and caring about their customers

Grateful for J & M's fast arrival and even faster troubleshooting. Exceptional service and outstanding professional. Thank you again

Excellent customer service. Give me all the recommendation and advice truly appreciated it.

There isn't anything Jim doesn't know about locks. Terrific and super friendly guy. A quality craftsman with great skills.

Had my old front door hardware replace with new and I didn't want to do it myself. Called J & M. Jim was on time. No none sense. He was done in 20 min. Very efficient. Friendly. Knows what he is doing. The cost was very reasonable for the service provided. Happy. Would and will use them again. Recommend. Oh, he replaced door handle, deadbolt, and rekeyed new lock so existing house keys would work with new lock. read more

Locked myself out of the house and Jim had me back inside in less than an hour from when I called him. Using photos that my out of town wife sent me of the house key, he was able to duplicate the key after a couple tries (didn't even know that was possible). Couldn't have asked for anything better and super reasonable price, especially considering how fast he showed up and got it done. Thanks Jim. read more

Yes, it's true -- all these 5-star reviews for J&M Locksmith are right on target. I needed a locksmith to drill a larger hole in my door to install the new Baldwin touchpad lock I bought online, then put everything together to make sure it worked smoothly. Checked Yelp and found J&M -- consistently 5-star reviews. Called earlier this afternoon and they happened to be on the way back from a job in Rancho Santa Fe. I texted a few photos of the old and new locks and my door and they instantly quoted me a (very reasonable) price. I said yes, and Jim and his wife/assistant Margie arrived at my home within 15 minutes. Within another 20 minutes or so, the job was done -- to perfection. I could go on and on, but long story short, as long as J&M is in business, THEY will be my locksmith. J&M should be yours too. read more

Had them come out and change the parcel lock box key . The lock they put in doesn't work JM said he would come back out and fix it. That was four months ago. I do not recommend these people. Call someone else read more

After 20 years, our door entry set gave out so I called J & M Locksmith. Jim was very helpful in telling me the type of lock that I had and who to call to order a similar model. He also offered other good info and it showed that he knows his stuff. I would have had Jim install the door lock except my handyman was already doing work for me and was able to install it. However, in the future, if I need a locksmith, I will call Jim! read more

We wanted to replace our old front door lock and deadbolt. Jim scheduled us right away. He quickly and efficiently replaced the hardware. He saved us money by recommending that we not replace the newer security screen locks and by keying everything to our existing house key. I would definitely use J & M again and will recommend them to family and friends. read more

We have an HOA with a pool area in Bay Park. Our security system was an old key lock that was inefficient and needed to be replaced. I put out bids to 6 locksmith companies in San Diego. All but one recommended the Trilogy code system. Bids ranged from $1150 - $3450. Even though JM was not the lowest or the highest, they did have the most 5 star reviews on Google and because their bid was detailed. I felt they could be trusted to not add more to the bid. They were also the best follow up communication and enthusiasm to do our project I had was from J&M. Thanks Jim and Margie for a job well done and great service. read more

Guess who locked herself out of the house today cause she was in a rush to pick up her kiddo from school!? This girl! Short and sweet review- Bf locked his keys in his trunk. He wasn't panicking as much as I expected him to, but I knew he was stressed out about it, lol. It wasn't long until I went into Yelp and looked up, "locksmith near me." J&M came up in the top of my searches. After perusing their reviews, I called them and Margie (the 'M' in 'J & M'), picked up. I asked for their quotes after providing them with my bf's car make and model- $85 with card or $75 with cash She instructed me to text the number I called with the address, my name, and number. I proceeded to do just this and also included a photo of the destination and a short video clip showing how to find the building. Between me calling Margie and her and Jim (you guessed it- he is the 'J' in the 'J & M'!), arrived within 15 minutes. Lightning fast! I waited for them in the corner and waived them towards the building. Jim was such a pleasure and a character! He's like... the cool and funny uncle you wish you had! He joked with my bf and I while he did his magic to my bf's car. The whole process took not even 5 minutes and they were on their way to their next call as soon as I knew it. Though the price was steep ("steep" since I don't know what other locksmiths charge), I didn't mind the price for the quality service I received, along with J&M's quirkiness. I hope this situation doesn't happen again anytime soon but I saved their number in case I need a locksmith again because you bet I'll be calling J & M to save me. Thank you again, Jim and Margie! read more

Great service!! Had an older door lock on our house jammed. Could not fix it myself. Jim came and sawed through the stuck latch and had it fixed in maybe 5 minutes max after he arrived. Contacted J & M as I was having an issue with an electric lock safe. Put me in touch with his safe guy John who walked me through several things but the issue persisted. He showed up that day and quickly diagnosed the issue solving my problem (the issue was me). It was such a simple fix but I still expected to be charged (it's happened several times prior dealing with other industries in and out of CA). John was kind and did not charge me for a thing. I know for a fact that the next time I need a locksmith I am calling J&M only! read more

I called at 10:00am and since they were already in the area, they were at my door in 10 minutes! 10/10 would recommend.

I would highly recommended J & M. Jim answered right away, through text and pictures he told me what needed to be done. Jim and Margie met me within the hour. They changed 6 new locks and drilled and installed a dead bolt. Thank you for your kind quick service and cleaning up. read more

On a recent Friday we locked ourselves out of the house. The sun was going down and it was getting cold. Luckily I had my phone with me, and we eventually got ahold of Jim at J&M. He came out right away and got us back inside pretty quickly. The price was reasonable (we didn't need new keys made) and he also gave us some advice on hardware and security, along with a few stories. Definitely an old-school type of guy. We enjoyed the interaction and will definitely call J&M again if needed. read more

I called J & M Locksmith because I was having difficulty inserting the key in my front door deadbolt. I spoke to Jim and he said it could cost as much as $90 for him to come over and repair. However, before he did that, he suggested I spray some WD40 into the keyhole to see if it fixes the problem. Lo and behold! It did (Yeah, I'm "handyman" challenged!). Anyway, I'm impressed Jim would offer free advice and lose an opportunity to make some money (I would not have known any better). It does speak to this man's INTEGRITY! I may not have used Jim this time but I now know who to call for locksmith services. His info is in my cell phone contact list! read more

These guys are professional. Husband and wife duo. Margie took my call and had a very calm demeanor. They gave me the price upfront without me even asking. They pulled up 5 minutes ahead of the ETA, buzz-sawed my club off in 30 seconds, and even vacuumed the scraps from the previous locksmith who wasn't able to drill off the club and left pieces of metal on my seat. J&M were half the price of the other locksmith business and got the job done in a fraction of the time. No funny business. I'd use them again in a heartbeat and so should you! read more
