Bought a black brother printer cartridge first time from here. The cartridge was not recognized by the printer. I called up the merchant and asked if they could deliver a new one since it takes an hour to going to their shop located in a poor parking rundown hard to find neighborhood. To my surprise, the one man show merchant was fully aware of a known product defect, specifically that "some chips in the cartridge don't work" and initially accepted responsibility. After I left a one-star review on Google, the merchant contacted me directly, acknowledged the issue, and clearly stated over the phone: "we don't deliver but don't worry about the bad cartridge, just come in for a refund." I was asked to show proof of purchase, which I agreed to do. When I requested a replacement be delivered, and the merchant declined and insisted that I visit the store in person. Today, I returned with the proof of purchase as requested. However, the merchant suddenly reversed their position, gave me the runaround, and refused to issue the refund--now claiming the defective cartridge must be returned, even though they had previously said it would not be necessary in exchange for them not delivering a replacement. This experience reflects poor accountability and a lack of follow-through on their own stated commitment to resolve a known defect. The merchant shop is like the incompatible cartridge, outdated, disorganized and incompetent. They sell CBD and some other nonessential stuff. The last review was over two years ago. This place isn't doing well for a reason. Needless to say, you just lost another local customer who wanted to support you. read more

Owner was a snob. A while ago, I went in to see if I could get a replacement ink cartridge for the printer at work. I knew it was a long shot because it was a large format Epson printer (used to print signs). It was a 3 day weekend coming up, so getting it shipped would be delayed. I expected that I wouldn't find it on the island, but might as well take a shot. I came into Mr. Ink's shop just to try my luck and inquire - and he SCOFFED at me. What a jerk! I ignored that first scoff, and decided to ask if he carried cartridges for my home printer, a Canon inkjet. And again, instead of just saying 'no', he scoffed. But this time he sarcastically said '... you should get a Brother.' Like dude! I work in graphics for a living, I'm aware that Brother is a good brand. I got the Canon because it's I needed a cheap printer with ADF scanning. Sometimes I have to scan stacks of pages. Brother color ADFs are crazy expensive. It's more cost efficient for me to get a Canon. Maybe you should ask questions before jumping to conclusions. read more

I went in and...holy smokes (wait, we'll get to that part later...). I went in and used my iDcard discount to bring that baby down to $95 plus tax. It should work for 6000 pages, which should last me at least a few years. They offer a 100% guarantee, and I've never had to take my printer cartridges back in. Mr. SMOKES To my surprise, they now have a whole section of pipe tobacco and roll-it-yourself type supplies. Apparently if you roll your own stuff, it drops the price down from $8-9/pack to $2-3/pack. Sounds like a great deal to me if you have the patience to DIY. However, they also have the electronic nicotine cartridges to help wean yourself off this expensive habit. Don't worry about the smell if you are not into tobacco products, I didn't smell a thing. I have been going to Mr. Ink Plus (off and on) when they were in Kakaako... since they have moved to their current location at North School Street, their parking is actually much better (even though it doesn't seem that way), and I go in and leave with relative ease... much appreciated as my schedule often has moments when time is of the essence. Mr. Iwamoto has always been knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with. Great customer service and always straight to the point, which I highly respect, and find to be as rare as a white elephant these days... Just make sure my fellow Yelpers, please make sure you know what the make and model of your printer is, as well as the model number of the catridges you're picking up, it makes this go so much smoother... oh, and Mr. Iwamoto has cool business cards that you can write your printer information on the back to help facilitate the ease of your transaction. I always keep mine in my "Costanza wallet" (Seinfeld reference, look it up on YouTube), just in case. Oh, and one more thing to make things cheaper for you... DON'T, I say again, DON'T update the printer firmware! Then you can buy the less expensive (however, equivalent or better) cartridges! The printer companies will lock you out of being able to use the equivalent, and cheaper cartridges if you update your firmware... just saying. read more

Went there July 2020 to get a full set of ink cartridges B,Y,M,C for my printer and walked in with my originals as examples. When I went home, realized he gave me 2 Magentas and no yellow. Went back next day to return. He exchanged the un opened magenta or a yellow. Its now January 2021 Popped in the new set of ink cartridges and turns out the yellow he gave me does fit, BUT ISNT COMPATABLE WITH MY PRINTER! WTF?!... Its been half a year already expecting he knows his inks! And now im stuck with this! Just because it fits and have the same groove don't assume its compatible and sell it to someone! I thought they promised generic ink for a great value but they are NOT!!! Even their website claims a huge percentage off. I shop a lot and when I call and ask about an HP product they give me a price that sounds good but misleading. I had asked for an HP952 tricolor ink and they said they have it. However, when I purchase it, the price with tax is $25 and it's for 1 ink cartridge. What the _ _!! That would make the 3 I need for $75!!!! It's only $64 for the original brand at Target. Mr Ink's new location is so convenient on N School St just before Shimazu ice shave store Nd McD's/Foodland. His sign is kinda small and unnoticeable as I've drove past it many times on errands and Sunday's to church! Even though Mr Ink couldn't refill my empty Hp cyan ink cartridge, he took the time to explain why and answered all my questions.. Hp is so frustratingly sneaky. Then on my way out I noticed he also sells CBD merchandise. I've needed to try CBD oil but I couldn't find a store I felt I could trust. Mr Ink now speaking as Mr CBD then took the time to explain the CBD oils, show what poor quality oil looks like vs pure highest quality, some of the different brands, and recommended usage. I wandered in here even though I don't really pay that much for my printer ink. They seem to have good prices on the whole. What I do not like is the made up reviews. And imagine my surprise seeing the same guy who sold me the ink on OC16. I seriously doubt they would like to promote someone who lies. Making up fake reviews to promote business is annoying and fools no one. I think it is insulting actually and speaks to your business ethic. Another visit for "Small Business Saturday" Seems like a tidy one man operation selling printer inks, toner, and all things connected to putting print and color on paper. All these important material stacked neat and orderly on shelves in a quaint little shop on the fringe of Kakaako. Terrence, the owner was very, very helpful on answering our questions and also in giving us tips on how to prolong the life of the printer, and the ink jets. And on the plus side (I'm guessing here's where the "PLUS"; in Mr Ink Plus comes from) he also sells pipe tobacco, rolling cigarettes, and E-cigs. Who'da thunkit? I have a small business and I usually buy my printer ink products from this small shop in Kakaako. It is quite near my establishment and the prices are pretty good. The thing that is special about this business is that printer ink cartridges are about all they do. I would expect them to know more about these types of products than other large box stores. Mr. Ink deserves every bit of my 5 star review! I came in anxious as ever, just bought a new printer and had a large amount of things to print!! Of course I quickly ran out of ink and I had a deadline to meet too! Call and he was really helpful. So on the way there I checked his reviews on yelp to give me an idea of what to expect. Was a little apprehensive after reading someone saying his reviews were "made up"! Luckily I trusted my own instincts and continued on my path. Once I found it, upon entering he greeted me promptly. Of course I was also talking in my cell (my friends and ohana call me the queen of multitasking) he waited until I got off the phone then got the inks I needed. He warned me of changing all then inks at the same time shocking the system. I listened to every bit of advance and only changed the cartridges when needed. He was extremely nice and accommodating. And, I really appreciate the amount of parking. I don't use a lot of ink but I have become a loyal customer. It's important to support small businesses. To Britt N.: I've not seen Terrence on OC16 so I don't know if he's advertising his business or has his own show. However, it makes no difference. It's completely ethical for any employee or business owner to appear on TV. I'm curious as to what makes you think otherwise? It's also ethical for business owners, especially new, small business owners, to request that customers leave reviews on sites like Yelp. However, it wouldn't be ethical if an owner wrote the review and the customer posted it. But, I don't get the feeling that is the case with this business. I've been to this store several times and the owner has been very kind during each visit. He seems to truly be interested in helping out his customers as much as possible. I have a Canon MG7100 inkjet printer and I print a lot of photos, cards, papers, etc. I also have a Brother laser printer. He has given me advice such as "they say you should change it after so many uses, but it's still good at that time. Just change it later, save money". Obviously, he cares more about his customers than telling them they need to come back and buy things more often. I've purchased laser toners, drums, and ink from him. So far, all of his products are of excellent quality. He doesn't sell original brand name products (like Canon, or Brother) but his products are of equal quality. I have not seen any difference between my prints. His ink is MUCH cheaper than the brand name stuff, has MUCH more ink in each cartridge, and print just as good! My only problem is he didn't carry one of my ink cartridges. My Canon has 6 cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, photo black, and gray). He carried all but the gray. Oh well. I'm still giving him 5 stars for his friendly service. Oh, and he accepts the Isle Discount card! I think it's 10% off? Even better! Parking lot is huge and is NEVER full. read more
