I think this is a Great hidden gem on the south side of Des Moines. They have good food and vegi options which is limited in Des Moines fast food Chinese places. The bad: no restroom, can drinks only (check dates on them) The good: food, Chinese, fast, alright pricing, nice family restaurant, order and eat

Sooooo apparently they do not tell you that the individual orders come with rice. I asked for Chicken lo mein, sweet and sour, broccoli beef and chicken fried rice. Each plate is 9$ and some change. When I got home I opened the Togo boxes and found rice in each one of the orders. The beef broccoli taste like bbq sauce. The lo mein looks like fettuccini noodles (has a good taste) but I wasn't expecting that. The sweet and sour chicken was good but the amount of chicken given can feed my kid alone. My total was 48$ definitely not worth this food. Sry but I do not recommend. :( a very disappointed pregnant women.

As a restaurant overall, I can only give them three stars. If I were reviewing just solely based off of the two dishes I always always get (Mongolian Beef Extra spicy and Shrimp Lo Mein) then it would be 4 stars, but of course, sadly the rest of the food here isn't that great. These two dishes that I love were carried over from the last owners who perfected it. Thank you for not messing with the recipe. The other dishes that I used to love from here are a far cry from what they used to be. The place is very small and I would suggest you just order take out - every one else is doing it lol parking lot is small. The Food: Mongolian Beef Extra Spicy - 4/5 just yummy beef stir-fried with green onions in a sweet sauce and placed on a beef of fried rice sticks. Yummmm! Shrimp Lo Mein - 4/5 they sometimes make it a Lil too sweet. Just tell them to make it not as sweet as usual. They will accommodate for that. Both dishes come with fried rice and hot and sour or egg drop soup. And also an egg roll. I've been coming here since I was in middle school and the old owners were still here. I'm back here now even though it's new owners. As long as they don't mess with my two dishes, I will keep coming back!

Started coming here in the late 80s.. went in today and missed the old owners. I believe their family moved to California like us. Owners have probanly changed 3 times but the decor inside looks about the same since 80s lol. American Chinese comfort food. I love it. Mongolian beef and hot braised shrimp. Brought back a lot of memories man! Remember nothing fancy here

Mr. Eggroll used to be one of my childhood favorites. And while they're still good, I feel their food has gone downhill a little. It's overly salty and a little on the bland side other than salt. Their building definitely needs updated, though it would likely be difficult to do so given their location. However, I'd still return.

I would have to say this place is ok. It is open on all holidays. I asked them once, why are you guys open? Their response, "because everyone else is closed, we are open". Gotta admit this place is a life saver for days you didn't feel like cooking or when every place is closed.

Chose Lua Brewing for Dinner because it was close to Hoyt…read more We had a little bit of a wait. I started with a Climbing Kites Mixed Berry which tasted fine. The Smush Burger with American Cheese, fried onions, pickles, and Lua Sauce. I wasn't expecting it to be so incredibly delicious. I got the Lua Sauce on the side because I wanted to taste just the burger. This has to be one of the best burgers. How does this place not get recognized or have I just been sleeping because the burger is phenomenal. Juicy, great flavor, and the Lua Sauce is excellent as well. The fires were very good too. The Service was good. A minor annoyance is the 3% fee for CC. Paid cash and still got the 3% fee. Just figure it into the price of business if you're going to get charged for it either way. Just an annoyance. Will definitely return for the burger. Sorry haters I felt it was better than Lachelle's, better flavor. Just my opinion.

It was a touch past lunchtime but the bar area was still busy, yet had seats open. We sat at the end and after some time was given some a water carafe and 2 small glasses (with no ice). She (never gave us her name) then came back for our drink order. And immediately asked for food, which we were not ready for. We gave her our drink order, after that we never seen her again. Sat there awhile. For so long we started looking at other restaurants around to eat. Then we she finally looked our way my husband made a motion to pay so we could just leave. Name on the receipt said AM B. Needless to say, we won't be back. Nor will we ever recommend it.
