Great service! Probably the most authentic Chinese I have had in along time. Very very flavorful and good. Made fresh worth every penny. read more

Let's cover the negatives. The ambiance is as low as you can go. Old tile floor, no soda dispensers or even a decent canned soda selection, and it looks like they use the "dining" area as a storage closet for paper products. The menu is extensive. I got the egg foo young which is kind of unusual for a Chinese place. It was okay but not fantastic. My companion got some brown sauce with chicken and broccoli which she thought was very good. Prices are very cheap. Service is basically taking an order at the register and bringing food to the table. read more

Been eating here for years, best pot stickers and hot and sour soup in town! Everything is excellent and service is fast and friendly.

Although in some aspects China House has a full but Americanized menu of choices, one thing I especially love there is that beef pieces in their entrees are tender and flavorful. (Some other restaurants tend too often to have overcooked, overly tough beef so I don't order beef entrees from places which have disappointed me before,) And when I order delivery from China House, they're always prompt, courteous, and reliable! read more

Food is so fresh and fast. Authentic Chinese. Will come back for sure. 1st time visit. Lunch portion huge read more

Food is always fresh and filling. Taste so good all the time. Service is also always efficient and timely.

Delicious, hot, fast and friendly. My crab Rangoon was perfect and the wonton soup really hit the spot. My daughter loves the chicken fried rice, chicken with pea pods and beef with broccoli. Generous portions make for satisfying leftovers as well. read more

Food Always hot and fresh. Service is fast. Like that they did some remolding. Nice people, my favorite is the specialty rice that includes the beef, shrimp, chicken, and i believe pork. My kid loves the noodles and we both love the egg rolls read more

This is my favorite place to get soup when we are feeling blah. I know the lady who answers the phone thinks I am nuts but we get quarts of the hot and sour, wonton egg drop and house special soup and lots of extra orders of the crispy noodles for the soup. Husband lives their egg foo young and my favorite is the Singapore noodles. read more

So fast. Delicious hot fast fresh Chinese food. Everything we have had so far has been delicious. Especially the noodles.

Food was good but got overcharged 10$, no egg roll, and even though we were dining in they didn't bring us plates. Waitress refused to give our money back or give us an egg roll. read more

While the eating area is average, the food is excellent and if you are looking for a solid carryout joint this is a great "Go to."

Great tasting food that reminds me of what I grew up eating on the east coast. My go to place for sure.

I love everything I'm always trying something new here. I'm ordering again tonight and I'm trying to see what I can get new. Never a disappointment and they are fast with delivery always. read more

This is your average take-out Chinese place! You walk in, order, pay, wait for your food and go! There are places to sit and dine-in but I noticed that the majority of their customers were take-outs. I did like the fact that they were open later than most places around the area. They deliver as well! The service was fine and the food was fast and piping hot! If I could give them half stars then I would definitely go with 3-1/2 stars. The Food here is good! But I wouldn't go out of my way just to come here. If I were in the area and it was late night, then this would definitely be an option! The Food: 3 Flavors Chicken (General's, Sweet & Sour, Chicken & Broccoli) - 3/5 *The General's Chicken wasn't bad at all. The best in town though? No. (That's what is stated on their menu. That they have the best general's in town) *The Sweet & Sour - it was okay. I've had better. But I appreciated the fact that they separated the chicken from the sauce since we had a long drive home. I wouldn't order this choice. *The Chicken & Broccoli was good, but nothing different about it that I can't find elsewhere. Chicken Lo Mein Extra Spicy - 3.5/5 The lo mein was good and they made it spicy for me! Egg Drop - 3/5 It was good. All in all, it's nice to know there is another Chinese take-out option! I wouldn't mind trying some of the other dishes from here! read more

Fantastic, consistently good. This is our go to take out place and it helped us to keep sane during the pandemic. They did a great job with keeping safe and keeping our taste buds happy when carry out was needed on nights that we don't want to cook. read more

For some reason I completely forgot there was a Chinese fast-food restaurant here, I'm glad this suggestion popped up on my screen when I was looking for a place to eat. At first I was surprised with the location because Tsing Tsao is right down the street a few blocks, and they are also a Chinese fast-food restaurant. This creates some serious competition between the two I would assume. This is an order-at-the-counter eatery, so walk up to the counter to order and they will bring your order to your table. There was only a couple of people eating in, because a fast-food eatery, there were many many many people coming in to order out or picking up their order they ordered on the phone. We were one of the few people who wanted to enjoy the full experience of eating in. We ordered the House Special fried rice and the Shrimp in Lobster sauce, with an order of Chicken Wings for an appetizer. The fried chicken wings were okay, not the best I've had, but not bad. The House Special fried rice was very good! Lots of chicken, pork, and shrimp! Great flavors and a good amount! The Shrimp in Lobster sauce was great! Great flavors, texture, and they did not skimp on the shrimp, there was a good size amount! I would definitely order food from here again! The food was ready very quick and the prices are great! The staff is friendly and efficient, if you are in a hurry, you won't be disappointed. read more

I'm in Des Moines for the first time and had all these places I wanted to try but freakishly enough they were all closed. Then a freak rainstorm came and I just got lazy and decided to order in. So my choices were pizza, pizza, pizza , and this place. My hotel front desk said the portions are large, it comes hot and stays hot, and it's about 50 minutes from order time to delivery. All true! Plus I'm trying to cut down on oil and this place took my special request. Overall very happy and stuffed camper. read more

If I could give a negative star right now, I would. My boyfriend was so sick from their trash ass lo mein that taste really good, but was absolutely cursed by the devil himself. He was sick for over two weeks on the toilet with tears in his eyes and misery for days. Y'all but for real though, they just had an inspection and it was SO BAD. Please do not go to this place. There were rats, left out raw chicken, eggs, beef, and crab rangoons. read more

Best Combination Lo Mein in town. We eat here at least once a month and are never disappointed. As long as they keep preparing the food the way they do, my family will be customers for life. read more

They make the best general tso chicken. I usually order that with crab Rangoon and egg rolls. I also like their egg foo young. Definitely worth trying read more

You receive rather large portions but you don't receive the typical side dishes during the dinner hour. You have to order the soup, spring rolls separate. In addition if you want fried rice other than white rice there is an additional charge. We ordered the beef & broccoli, the brown sauce was rather flavorful and nice ratio of meat to broccoli. Cashew chicken had plenty of cashews. Lot of chicken, however you need to be very careful we found bones in the chicken in this dish and in the chicken lo mein! My daughter said the Chicken LoMein was good until the bone and she refused to eat more of it. Crab rangoons had plenty of stuffing. Spring rolls were crispy and delicious. read more

I had stopped eating chinese food in Des Moines because of the poor quality. But one day my mom ordered takeout and I tried some...best chinese in Des Moines! Their crab rangoons are the best I've ever had, and all the other menu choices I've tried (cashew chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried rice) have been amazing! I will admit, it's a little hole-in-the-wall-ish. And I've never eaten in the restaurant myself. But it's great! So yummy. read more

Absolutely love this food that is served here. Order is served-to-order and comes out hot and fresh every time. Customer service isn't too great but I'm just there to get my order taken and it hasn't ever been wrong. If you're looking for great Chinese at an even better price, this is your place! read more

We got takeout for Sunday lunch when we were in the neighborhood. I had a craving for egg drop soup, and a quart was a fantastic item to be able to order. It really hit the spot. I also got an order of 6 crab rangooons. I thought they looked a little small, but they were the perfect size. Overall, the amount of food that we got for the price was great, and the flavor was spot on. read more

We are out of towners, trying to place an order. Lady that answered was rude as could be. Hung up on me, my husband called back we took our business elsewhere. read more

I agree with the other reviews, China House has some of the best Chinese food I have had in Des Moines! I have only had delivery from China House and it is usually extremely quick. The tip when ordering is to look at their online menu and order with the numbers. I haven't had any issues with incorrect orders since ordering this way. This is a must for a lot of food for a fairly good price. read more

When I ordered the food from my hotel room the lady was very short and not very pleasant. I ordered my food and told them no onions. When the food arrived it had onions in it. When I called to try to get it right she argued with me on my order and told me " All I get is sorry!" So I told her she didn't have to worry about me calling back in the future. I guess they don't need everyone's business. read more

Great food with fast delivery and good size portions at a real reasonable prices my whole family enjoyed their meals

Why wife and I made our first carry out trip here tonight and it was AMAZING!! We were crazy Sesame Chicken and General Taso Chicken and neither disappointed! In fact, we have been let down in the Sesame Chicken department by so many other Chinese places around town. This Sesame Chicken is what dreams are made of! The egg rolls were fresh and so tasty! The rice was sticky yet not dry and ate perfect with chopsticks. This is our new go to place! In fact we called in 30 min before close and our food was ready and fresh in the 10 min promised. Not sure what more you could want from a carry out/delivery Chinese spot! read more

I really miss this place since I moved off of the east side of DeMo. I haven't found anything better on my new side of town that compairs. I think these guys are the best Chinese is town and their General Tso is the best in town. Crispy pieces of chicken in a tasty brown sticky sauce with just the right amount of broccoli. It is usually enough for two meals. I've tried most item of the menu and I personally stick with chicken dishes. IWith one exception, their Boneless spare ribs are the bomb some times I just order them with a side of rice. The owners are so nice, I would go in just to talk with them and wait for my order. read more

Good Chinese food. Rude service. That's pretty much all I got. I think I will stick to Tsing Tsao if I'm on East University again. At least I got to see what all the hype was about. Cross off my list! read more

I tried ordering via phone and this Chinese woman hung up on me when I asked her to repeat what she was saying. Rude rude rude!!! Well you just lost a lot of business not just mine.
