Martin and Aide are so great! Their prices and quality are both excellent. They are very easy to work with and completed the job on time. We had to coordinate with six homeowners in our condo association and Mister Chimney were flexible and accommodating, which made the process run smoothly. We absolutely will work with Mister Chimney again when other chimneys in our complex require repair. They are our preferred vendor. read more

TL;DR Do yourself a big favor and have Mr Chimney handle your Chimney repair and maintenance needs. I cannot give enough praise for the service I received from Martin and his crew. The back story is that I had been looking for help with repairing my chimney (new cap and cover) and found a couple of service providers in San Francisco where I live. It appeared that they were highly rated and so I had them come out and give me a quote. They did but the quotes were under names that were different from the name on the websites which raised concerns (do your homework and check out the business address on the website and check for license number before having them come out). I asked for contractor license numbers and they either didn't have or it was under a different name which raised more concerns. I began to look elsewhere and found someone who was a licensed contractor but they refused to come over and look at it before giving me a quote and were not going to be able to do the work for another couple of weeks. Finally I found Mister Chimney (licensed and bonded in California #1160652) and was able to schedule an inspection right away. Martin (the owner) came over and inspected it himself. I showed him where the other chimney service providers had accessed the roof but he insisted on another access point so as to avoid damaging the rain gutters despite the fact that it was a much higher and more difficult access point (the other chimney service providers didn't even consider and sure enough had done some damage to the rain gutters). Martin was able to inspect and give me a quote on the spot and scheduled the work to be done that week. The guys who came over and did the work did a great job and the cost matched the quote which was very fair and below the cost the other chimney service providers quoted. I only wish I would have found Mister Chimney sooner. read more

Used for repairs of a chimney. Martin provided the quote - he was very good at explaining to me what needed to be done and why. Aiden did the work, and talked to me about options for some items. Both were very good at showing me things about the needed repairs. Also, very timely at getting out to provide the quote and performing the service. read more

We had our chimney cleaned by this team and we absolutely enjoyed working with them! Called them to make an appointment and the person who assisted with our booking was very polite and scheduled us for the next day, which was much appreciated. Martin and his crew arrived on time and were very professional, explaining clearly what they were going to do before starting the clean. They answered all the questions, provided helpful recommendations on how to take care of the fireplace, and left everything spotless. Will definitely book an appointment with this team again for future work! read more

Mr. Chimney installed a liner 4 years ago. They were excellent installers and the liner has held up exceptionally well. I burn more than two cords of wood a year. Martin and team did a cleaning for me today. They were timely, did very thorough work, were tidy and all around professionals. It can be difficult to find quality work in the Bay Area. This business is stellar. I will use them as long as I am in SF resident. read more

I appreciate them calling me back to offer an apology for not sending me an estimate, they said they emailed it to me but I never got it. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else. They seemed like an honest company. read more

I am highly recommending Mister Chimney | Nova Fireplaces for any chimney or fireplace related jobs. They are responsible, professional, caring for the customer contractors who take pride in what they are doing. I am doing a lot of work around the house myself so I see when contractors are just some-how pushing the job through or really care about what they are doing. I needed to extend a flue (roof contractors many years ago just cut off my old clay flue without telling me about it) and fix possible cracks in the remained length of the clay flue and back wall of the fireplace. Martin offered me very robust solution at very reasonable price, much better than other 2 contractors were offering, without sacrificing the overall project result or fireplace quality. The team worked fast, clean, thoroughly understanding what they are doing and caring about the house they are working in. The SF City Inspector accepted the job with no questions. The whole project from my first call to Mr.Chimney to City Inspector's signing off the job card took just 5 calendar days, including weekend. I for sure will call back to Mister Chimney for any fireplace related services I would need in the future. read more

I called Mister Chimney to have some chimney repairs done on an old home. They asked if i wanted a free estimate or an inspection for $110. I didn't understand what the difference was or how they would estimate without an inspection, but opted for the inspection to get more details. The inspector looked in my fireplace and used a ladder to view the top of the chimney. He was here briefly, 5-10 minutes. I received a condition report which indicated a bad crown, damper, and firebox. I already knew about these issues from a previous free estimate with another company. Their inspection did not note the rusty gas line, cracked and deteriorated joints at the base of the chimney, or bad flashing (see photos). Furthermore, I never received an estimate on these repairs. read more

The service person responded to my request for a chimney inspection; I thought I might have a creosote build-up, and I was concerned about conditions that might contribute to a chimney fire. The Cleaner came, inspected my chimney, but concluded that he could not clean it with the equipment he had on hand because of my old brick chimney's design. However, I have to recommend him highly because his inspection concluded that (1) that I did NOT have any significant danger of a chimney fire and (2) since he could not clean my chimney, he would NOT charge me anything! --You can't argue with free service! Also, he was polite and very efficient! read more

Roberto is an excellent technician. Highly recommend requesting Roberto. He is professional and honest and gets the job done

This is who you want to hire to fix / repair / clean your chimney! Martin is fantastic. He told me exactly what I needed to do for safety and to protect my house, and different options with transparent pricing based on whether I planned to use the furnace vs just keep the chimney and house safe. He showed me where other people were trying to sell me "fixes" I didn't need. He patiently answered all my questions as an uneducated but curious homeowner comparing multiple quotes. He responded quickly to all texts and calls and was always very kind and generous with his time. The quote for the work I decided to do was similar / less than another company I looked at and Mr Chimney seemed like a far more professional company in terms of communication, presenting options, estimate, etc. Their office seems understaffed (maybe just 1 person working there?), but Erica is super nice and sent the estimate and scheduled the job...best to call her because they must be overwhelmed with email and I didn't get a response to email. The day of the work, the workers came on time, were super nice and explained everything and answered all my questions. They were supposed to do a number of repairs including fix my damper. They unfortunately said the damper couldn't be fixed but they were able to close it and I don't plan to use the fireplace, so they removed the charge whereas other companies might have charged me just for getting it to move enough to close fully or tried to talk me into replacing it. They simply presented the options and their costs and said I could decide later if I decide to use the fireplace. The workers were neat and clean, worked efficiently, and the chimney looks brand new after their repairs. After the work, I was cleaning leaves out of my gutters, and thought I saw some cement dust that had blown into the gutters during the work and was worried it could turn to cement in the rain and clog my gutters. I called Martin and he sent his workers back the next day to clean it up. He told me actually it was not cement dust but some debris from the roof but his team kindly cleaned it out anyway to assuage my concern-- truly old fashioned customer-centered values which is rare in this day and age. I would hire them again for any work and highly recommend them. Thanks, Martin, Erica, and team!! read more

Adrian, Erica and Martin were an absolute pleasure to work with. When the chimney cap fell off our house, they were quick to schedule an estimate. They provided a reasonably priced estimate and were able to replace our rusted cap and chase cover the following week. Would work with again. read more

Reviewing chimney cleaning: excellent, prompt, easy to call and book, fair prices (they don't take cards so have cash/check ready), and Martin was even willing to come to Marin County. He made us aware of other issues (water intrusion) during the inspection. Thank you! read more

Hired them for my client's chimney inspection and cleaning. The guy who showed up was professional and on time. Be carful using this company many times they stuff a metal liner in the chimney which is unsafe and the city will not issue a permit for the work. Look for a company that uses the Thermocrete method of repair which city will issue a permit since it does not effect the exhaust flow and the chimney can work as designed and not trap dangerous carbon dioxide inside the house Better to trust the professionals at Okells Fireplace read more

Today we had our chimney swept by Adrian, from Mister Chimney in Belmont, and we were very pleased by the service. I received one quote for $498 from a contractor with a lot of positive yelp reviews, who also said he was already booked solid for the next three weeks. Mister Chimney quoted $275 for the same work, and was able to schedule it for 2 days later. Adrian from Mr. Chimney arrived on time this morning and did a very professional job. My chimney cap had been fastened in place by mounting band with an old, rusted bolt. Adrian made short work of the problem, and replaced the rusted bolt with a new one he provided at no additional charge. He did a very thorough job of the cleaning, and cleaned up the work area very nicely when he was done. Quick, professional service at a reasonable price. I'm very happy. read more

We've used Mister Chimney in the past for cleaning our chimney, so when we moved to a new home, we called them up to inspect our new one. They noted that our ash door and damper were missing. Adrian came out on time for the appointment, completed the cleaning, and installed a new damper along with an ash door. He also did a great job at making sure he cleaned up once he was done. We'll definitely have them out again for the next cleaning and would highly recommend them for wood burning chimney needs. read more

Called Mr Chimney based on all the yelp reviews. Made an appointment to get my chimney cleaned and install a new damper, Martin came out on time and cleaned the chimney and measured for a new damper that had to be made. The next week Adrian came out exactly what time they said he would. He installed the new damper mortared all up by the damper which was missing all the mortar, then he went up on the roof and mortared all the cracks I had in some of the bricks. Adrian was was very professional, courteous and polite. He cleaned up like he was working at the Ritz Carlton. Definitely call them again, hard to find companies these days with that much experience and show up on time. read more

Requested a quote from this place based on how highly it was rated, and was very pleased with their service. Erica reached out shortly after with a price quote and availability. On the day of, two men came with equipment and cleared out the chimney within 30 mins. I was concerned it would be a more extensive job, due to the home being at least ten years ago and we were unsure when it was last cleaned. Fortunately for us, Gerardo assured us that our chimney was in good shape and was not backed up or anything. I would like to note that they charge a small fee for using credit card, so plan ahead to have a personal check or cash on-hand. read more
