Egg rice roll
Selene S.

We decided to try this place out for their rice rolls based on the reviews. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot shared with other spots and CVS. We came around 10 am so we got seated right away. It's a pretty shall space inside. The rice rolls were about $6 a plate for 4 rolls each. It was pricey and not that special. The beef one was especially disappointing given that the meat is just small chunks sprinkled on top. As for the noodles, it was decent with a big portion of noodles for about $15. It comes with a few stalks of veggie and then some protein. The soup was pretty oily though, especially for the pickled veggie noodle one.

I enjoyed the Yangzhou fried rice and the steamed rice rolls. You can make an order through phone for pick up. They take cash, they can take card but there's a small fee. They have cute decorations inside. The staff are nice and friendly. The parking lot is big, they are not busy. Prices are good.

Hidden gem. Great service that was fast and efficient. I ordered a liver congee with preserved egg that came filled with pieces of liver and egg. Most places would skimp on the fill but it was topped up here. Will definitely be a regular now that I found them.

the flavor was good but I wish it came with more protein. I didn't feel like this was necessarily a bang for your buck, but it definitely killed the steamed rice noodle roll craving. it's a small restaurant so there may be a bit of a wait, especially on the weekends.

Family of 4 decides to go to Mr Champion for dinner - we look up the nearest restaurant from Yelp. Mr Champion is a small, cute, and Cantonese style cafe in Arcadia. Service is better than average, as there is one waitress handling everything. As for food, their signature is the smooth tasty rice noodle rolls. We order the bbq pork and shrimp ones, there is an option to add egg - I know it's popular for certain regions. We also order stir fry beef udon, savory, the traditional beef tripe dry noodle (lo mein) is very authentic Cantonese, the flavor on the beef tripe is perfect. Last, popcorn chicken is my least favorite; our young lady clean it all up. It's more of breading, good flavors less meat. Overall, the portions of dishes are just enough for one adult; taste is truly Cantonese and good. Maybe I will try to add egg with rice noodle rolls next time.

I have to admit the rice noodle rolls here are a match for the rolls in hong kong without the 16 hour flight there! It's pillowy soft and made fresh to order. I would definitely recommend calling ahead and placing an order. I get the shrimp rice noodle rolls and it's soo delish. One of my too go to dimsum spots

05/25/2025 - Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll $4.50
Teri C.

I love rice noodle rolls and Mr. Champion was known for them. First off, there's a sign in list by the register, so head there first if you plan on dining in. There was one person waiting before me and they chose to sit her at the four top table while there were two empty seats at the counter. Meanwhile, my party of four had to wait until another table cleared. This was not efficient and I'm not sure where the logic was there. This is what we ordered: * Pork Rice Noodle Roll $4.50 * Beef Rice Noodle Roll $4.75 * Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll $4.95 * Beef Stew Rice Noodle Rice Roll $4.95 x 2 Our favorite was the Beef Stew Rice Noodle Roll as it had the most flavor with the sauce, hence why we went with a second order. The rest were all fine, and I liked the texture of the rice noodle rolls. They are very thin and light. However, they don't cook the rice noodle rolls with the protein in it, rather it's tossed on top with the sauce. The pork one did look like it may have been cooked a little with the protein inside, but the shrimp, beef, and beef stew versions all have the protein added on top. Perhaps they do it this way so they can make them faster. I imagine it's more efficient to make a bunch of plain rice noodle rolls and adding whatever toppings afterwards. The price point for rice noodle rolls was pretty decent. Service - the bare minimum with taking our orders, bringing out our drinks and food, and giving us the bill. Everyone knows you come here for the rice noodle rolls and not the service. 3.5 stars

Dried shrimp style rice roll

My Cantonese elderly dad favorite place for rice rolls and porridge, it's one of the bright spots in his life now that he's in a nursing home and has limited mobility, he lived in the area before, so when I visit him with porridge and beef rice roll from Champion, he's really happy...saids it's very authentic and soy sauce is deliciously flavored. Plus the items are reasonably priced and well portioned, really hits the spot

Wonton noodle soup, with veggies
Karen L.

Solid family joint to diversify the Cantonese breakfast scene. The rice noodle rolls are smooth and filled with toppings, with the ability to add egg. Wonton noodle soup was decent, although wontons could be more flavorful. The wonton meat was quite packed though. Overall good service too as a change of pace from most Chinese restaurants. Easy parking too.

Beef and shrimp rice roll, delicious $3.95 $4.25

I started liking this place until recent, I took my sister for light breakfast there before going to acupuncture. We ordered rice roll and beef chow fun to share, I think the rice roll is their specialty which is pretty good, cheap and easy to digest. We both agree beef chow Fung is good though portion isn't ax big as other Cantonese restaurants. After that visit, I did couple take outs Mostly a rice roll with porridge. After I discovered I can add liver to the porridge for additional $3, I asked for 3 orders of liver added to my porridge. Unlike other restaurants adding liver usually just thin slice boiled liver which is dry , their version is big chalk of liver which tastes really good !!! Service is very friendly and easily to order takeout by phone with madarin

This is a cute, simple, little place located in a plaza. Parking was easy. Service was friendly and prompt. This place hit the spot for my friend and me as we just came from hiking. We both ordered the Iced HK Milk Tea & Coffee, and it was refreshing and good. We liked that it didn't leave an after-taste. The rice noodles were delicious and the price point was amazing! That's why we shared two orders. I even ordered to-go for my hubby. The porridge was yummy as well. They did not skimp on the pork or Preserved eggs. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area.

Popcorn chicken
Aaron M.

Was in the area and dropped by because I had to get the shrimp noodle rolls! And oh my god they were amazing! Priced at $5 it was a steal. We needed up getting 3 orders. The menu had a lot to offer and we chose to order beef chow fun, beef noodle soup and popcorn chicken. All of the dishes were very tasty and homey. It taste like my grandma cooked it which is always a plus! Don't forget, their XO sauce is soooooo good! 8" The staff here was super friendly and accommodating - which made our experience much better. Definitely coming back for the shrimp rice noodles!

Golden flour twist

First time to dine in this restaurant with traditional Cantonese cuisine, we tried the pork rice noodle roll, golden flour twist, beef honeycomb tripe noodle soup and pork liver porridge which were all delicious. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. We like this cute little place and will definitely come back.

This time, I wanted to try something different, so I ordered the shrimp paste with cauliflower. It was a new dish for me, and what a pleasant surprise! The cauliflower was cooked just right, with a nice texture, and the shrimp paste added a wonderful savory flavor. I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered it, but it turned out to be really delicious. Definitely a dish I would order again! I also ordered the two BBQ delicacies plate, which was another winner! Both BBQ selections were flavorful, tender, and juicy. The rich BBQ flavors really hit the spot and reminded me of the delicious Cantonese BBQ I had during my Hong Kong trip. Overall, HAO Cafe was a great choice for my first Cantonese food craving after returning from Hong Kong. It's nice to know I don't have to fly all the way back to Hong Kong to enjoy a satisfying Cantonese meal! The shrimp paste cauliflower was definitely the highlight this time, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

It was tender and incredibly juicy. Their BBQ meats are noticeably better than a more popular competitor -- juicy, flavorful, and not dry. - The breakfast 2-item combo is totally worth it. Generous portions and easily enough to share between 2-3 people. - The lemon iced tea and HK milk teas are refillable. - The restaurant itself is small, but so is the staff size, so expect things to move at a more relaxed pace. This is one of those places that may not be the first name that comes to mind when you're craving a HK cafe, but it should be on your list.

We ordered four items from the lunch special menu: salt and pepper pork chops, salt and pepper shrimp, cucumber salad with marinated jellyfish, and rice with soy sauce chicken. All entrees are $12.99 each. I wish I'd taken pictures of these dishes, but oh my gosh, the pork chops and shrimp dishes are the best I've ever had!! The pork chops were tender, with just the right amount of batter on them--the same for the shrimp. The best part of these two dishes is the crunchy fried garlic stirred in with fresh jalapeño chilies. They were so delicious. These are the best Cantonese dishes I ever had. The portions were generous for the price. The chicken rice was just ok. To me, this place is the best Cantonese family-style restaurant in the greater LA area. By the way, their roasted duck is one of the best in L.A. The food at this location is much better than the sister location on Del Mar St. in San Gabriel. What separates this location from the San Gabriel location is the level of service. The server we had today (a gentleman) was polite and attentive. My favorite server there isn't working today; her name is Vivian. I've known her for over 20 years, since she worked at MPV restaurant in Alhambra before it burned down. Try this place. You will love the food and service. Keep in mind that I've been to this place many times in the past; the food is always good, but not exceptional like today. Nice and freshly made. I ordered one soy sauce chicken, 1/2 roast duck and one pound of bbq pork. Everything came out nicely packaged in to go containers and were hot. I tried a piece in the car and it was delicious. Very flavorful and moist. Definitely to be eaten with some white rice as it is a bit on the salty side. The food is consistently good, honestly better than a lot of nearby places that charge quite a bit more. What won me over right away, though, was the breakfast combo. Two dim sum items and a hot drink for just $14 is a genuinely good deal. A cold drink is only $1 more (typical HK practice), and you can also take your drink to go for another $1, which is a nice little convenience. I'm pretty particular about milk tea, so I don't say this lightly: their half coffee, half milk tea really hits the spot every time. It's balanced, and satisfying. Beyond the combo, they also serve all the comfort staples, porridge, fried chow mein, Chinese donuts, and my personal favorite, rice noodles with a variety of fillings. It delivers the same comforting flavors you want from a casual dim sum-style breakfast, but without the inflated prices, long waits, and hectic atmosphere that have become so common at more traditional dim sum spots. This place is a solid, dependable replacement for the usual dim sum experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service is consistently warm and welcoming. The driveway can be a little tricky. It sits right next to the Taco Bell drive-through exit, separated only by a fire hydrant, so it's easy to miss or get confused when pulling in. But it's a small tradeoff for a spot that delivers this much value and consistency.

Mediocre Food, Huge Portions, and Disappointing Service…read more We were hungry and craving tofu, but since Young Dong Tofu next door was closed, we walked around and discovered New Fusion. At first, we weren't sure whether it was a takeout place or a sit-down restaurant. The man behind the counter told us we could sit and eat, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the roasted pork and roasted duck combo with rice, while my husband ordered the beef noodles. Unfortunately, both dishes were bland. My plate came with a huge amount of rice but very little meat. The rice itself had hardly any flavor, and my husband's beef noodles were equally disappointing. We ordered extra hoisin sauce to improve the taste, which helped. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of my combo plate. The portions were enormous, but quantity doesn't make up for a lack of flavor. We visited around 4 p.m. and paid $47 for the two meals. In my opinion, that's overpriced for such mediocre food. The service was also confusing. There seemed to be a language barrier, and when I ordered the pork and duck combo with rice, I had to repeat myself three times. The waitress then told me I hadn't asked for rice, even though I was sure I had. Her response came across as somewhat rude. Another issue was the timing. When we walked in, three waiters seemed focused on serving me, while my husband waited about 10 minutes for his order. My food arrived first, and by the time I finished eating, his meal finally arrived. We ended up eating separately instead of enjoying our meal together. Would I recommend New Fusion? Maybe, if you're looking for generous portions and don't mind average food. However, nothing about our experience stood out in a positive way. Overall, New Fusion was an underwhelming experience. The food lacked flavor, the service was disorganized, and the price felt too high for what we received. We won't be returning. There are better options out there. Rating: 3/5 stars
