Cousin said this is the best Kbbq salad he's ever seen
    Ian C.

I finally decided to check this spot out with some cousins and a friend (party of 4) on Father's Day of all days haha. We were quoted an hour wait since it was full house but there was only a party of 6. Hostess apologized and everything but we completely understood. We instead checked out the Sunday Farmers Market which I really recommend if you're in the District / Tustin area. We arrived around 12pm and was called around 12:45pm. Not bad considering the day! Peter, our waiter, checked in on us and explained it was dinner option all day and took our orders for rice. This place has iPads at the tables where you can put in your meat orders; I believe you can order up 3 appetizers and 4 meats at a time. Also I don't think there's a time limit set here (which may change cause of us haha) I noticed on the menu it doesn't include any of the premium options that you would typically see at kbbq locations which most likely explains the $33 price per head for the dinner option. But nonetheless we were ready to dig in and put in our first order of 2 orders of brisket and 2 beef belly. So the beef belly here was amazing! Hands down my favorite meat served here. The brisket was delicious too! We downed those quick and put in a next order of more beef belly and their pork jowl. Pork jowl came lightly salted with enough pieces that fed our party of 4. That was delicious too! Our other orders consisted of the mussels, shrimp, and their signature Mr bbq meat. The mussels and shrimp were great! The Mr bbq meat was good. Wasn't my favorite though but I would say the marinade used was awesome. Our waiter checked on us constantly as well as the other staff refilling the water that was provided. After our beef belly eating competition (I swear me and my cousin really get into it haha), our waiter said they offered icecream in the end. We picked our flavors and he came back with the check and the melona icecream which was the cherry on top of our meal. We paid around $40 for each of us tip included which imho is an absolute steal for the quality of meats and the service. Peter said he would make us a secret sauce if we see him next time which I will have to come back for. Peter and the staff here were all awesome! To sum it all up, this place is definitely the place to get your Korean bbq fix. Keep in mind, they don't offer premium options like beef tongue, galbi, etc though but nonetheless the meats offered here were delicious! Definitely check it out!

We went here for father's day. We were expecting a long wait so we signed on the waitlist on yelp which was very helpful. Checked in withbthem when we arrived and was seated at our table. Restaurant had a fun vibe to it with the fun paintings on the wall. It was clean and modern. You get to your table, they give you all the sides, water and order through the Ipad on the table. We ordered kimchi fried rice (yum), tempura (yum too), bulgogi fries, korean fried chicken, steamed egg, beef belly, brisket, pork belly, kalbi, marinated honey garlic pork belly. Food came fast and everything was delicious but our fave was the beef belly. Sliced thin and cook it a but crispy and dip in their house sauce and chili. What a great bite! The meal came with an ice cream Popsicle too at the end! Perfect ending to a scrumptious meal! Service was great. We had a very good experience and plan to go back.

If you enjoy the original Mr. BBQ in Fullerton then you may want to check this Jr. version out. I came with 3 other people for lunch. We came around noon on a weekend and it was busy but no wait. When we left later there was lots of people waiting. I was told by our server that Mr. BBQ Jr is similar although they have less meat options but more appetizer options. You order on the kiosk with 4 items maximum and I believe they give you 10 mins before you can order again. Some of the meats were hit or miss. Some were good but some meats ended up being very chewy. I did like that they offer way more appetizer options such as buldak noodles, lots of sides/banchan, corn cheese, kimchi fried rice, fried chicken, and baos. At the end they even have Melona popsicles to end your meal with. Our service was excellent. The foods came out quick, our grill was constantly changed, and the waiter answered all our questions. They were pretty attentive. The inside looks same as ziip since they took over it. It is located right by the movie theater.

We came at around 9:40 and were told 20 minutes, which is fine. But then we heard from 2 other parties that they had been waiting 1 hour. We looked inside to see 6 tables empty just not cleaned. I saw a party come in and complain and then all the sudden after some headset communication it looked like the staff had an urgency to clean. Still standing here at 10:15 and only 1 table has been bussed. I understand maybe having only one bus person, but everyone was just standing around. No urgency to clean the tables. There was about 5 staff members just standing around chitchatting. Post experience: The food was just average. The brisket was already dry, but somehow the beef belly was also dry. The cut of ribeye and large intestine were good. I will try to describe this the best I can. Staff was really friendly, but the service was absolute a**. Table we were sat at was not prepared. We ended up asking for everything including tongs and scissors. We were told last call, then when asked what we'd like to put in we said pork jowl, then our server told us actually the kitchen closed a few seconds ago. Keep in mind this was a pork jowl order we had ordered on their iPad system that never came out. After we explained that the server found us a side of it from the back. We ordered Korean fried chicken and it came out a little undercooked. I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a sister restaurant to the Mr Bbq in Fullerton, but this place is nothing like it. Sorry, but I will not be returning.

This Kbbq spot replaced another here at Tustin District. There's a weekday lunch special that we saw on social media for $23.99 pp, but that doesn't apply on Fridays. Service was friendly and we were seated pretty quickly, although I can imagine quite a bit of wait if there's no open tables. The interior was clean and spacious. Getting the food might take a while when they're busy. We got the usual, corn cheese, steamed egg, kimchi fried rice, and of course, beef belly, pork belly and brisket to grill. Quality is pretty good and standard. The meat selection isn't extensive like some other places, but all we needed were the core items so we were satisfied. Located right next to AMC at the District.

Mr bbq in Fullerton is much better. Service was great though and our server and host/hostess were so attentive and nice This used to be zips kbbq and I think they just kept everything more or less the same. The meats here were okay but I think the big selling point here were the Korean street foods. My favorite things were some of those foods and the sides. But I feel like if I'm going to Korean bbq, the meat should stand out. They did not have boneless short rib, beef tongue, or scallop. The Mr bbq cut I think was the marinated galbi but it wasn't that well marbled. Favorite was pork jowl but I love that so it's unfair. Brisket was too lean. Beef belly too fatty. Pork belly was decent Ddukbokki was good. Ssamjang good. Salad good. Sauces for meat good and had lot of variety and I liked how they had rice paper and radish

Mr. BBQ Jr is an AYCE KBBQ restaurant that recently opened at The District in Tustin. It's a "junior" to the bigger and original location in Fullerton which is meant to be a more approachable and affordable option. There is ample free parking at the mall. The lunch option is $23.99 and the dinner/weekend option is $33.99. We came right when they opened and were seated immediately but there's a Yelp waitlist you can utilize during busier times. After you get seated you order your food and drinks from an iPad. There are pages of meat, sides, and soups/noodles to order from. Out of the meats we ordered my favorites were the bulgogi, pork galbi, and mr bbq. Out of the sides my favorites were the bulgogi fries, Korean fried chicken, and corn cheese. Unfortunately they didn't have some KBBQ classics like beef galbi and steamed egg but I guess that's what makes this location "junior". In a way I do see that it makes the ordering process easier and simpler without the overwhelming amount of options but I still wish there were certain dishes that I usually go for at KBBQ restaurants. Regardless, the food and the service were good.

We were excited to see a replacement for the zip Korean barbecue that had closed. We frequent the district and are always looking for new food choices. I was pleasantly surprised when I entered and found the interior was redone. Glad Mr. BBQ Jr spent the time to make it his own. The all-you-can-eat pricing is affordable and is in line to the restaurants in the area. Our two kids were charged the children pricing appropriately. The best part of the place is that all the servers share duties. The food came out quickly after it was ordered on the pad. The pad makes it convenient to order things without having to wave down a server. We enjoyed the Mr. BBQ signature short rib the most. Second for us was the brisket. I suggest trying all of the side dishes at least once. You'll see what you like. My wife walked out on me as I was eating as she was too full. I continued to enjoy the food. Daniel at the front will explain the menu to you. Ron was our server and was super nice and brought out beers for us.

AHHHH!! Stumbled in here shockingly on their grand opening day! It used to be Zip BQQ and we were so sad they had closed. But Tustin is luckyyyyy, they just gained a 10/10 eat!! It was even better than the last Korean BBQ restaurant. Came for lunch and it was soooo affordable and delicious! Service was excellent! It was about $25 a person for all you can eat with also many appetizer options. We were pleasantly surprised. Felt super clean. Grills were new. Just all was SO amazing! So so happy there's another great Korean BBQ place in the district!

We were so sad when Zip BBQ closed down at this location because it was our favorite, but Mr. BBQ Jr. just opened up and we got to eat there during their soft opening. I was honestly blown away. The food was so delicious, and everything we tried was amazing -- the sides, the soup, the kimchi fried rice, and of course all the Korean barbecue. I also loved how easy it was to order from the iPad. The lunch special is such a great deal at $24 for all-you-can-eat lunch, and you get so much food. Mr. BBQ Jr. is officially our new favorite spot, and we will definitely be back for our weekly Korean barbecue!

Came here with a party of 5 and it was a great experience! The cuts of meat were really solid, beef belly being my personal favorite. They have so many good Korean dishes that are apart of the ayce which is not too common around here. Service was excellent. Shoutout Taylor and Ron for taking care of us so well. Always checking in to make sure we had everything. Thank you so much, will be back!

This new location of the famous Mr BBQ of Fullerton aptly named Jr lives up to the hype. We visited for the first time this evening after a movie at the AMC theater next door. This is a good spot for food before or after catching a movie or just visiting the open air mall. The host greeted us warmly and promptly helped me answer a menu question and dietary restriction request. Great friendly service right off the bat set the stage for a delicious meal. The banchan or sides were tasty and the included steamed egg bowl was freshly made. They have a table side digital ordering tablet to get your meats, apps, drinks etc. The waiters brought our dishes out fast after inputting them to the pad. They also kept up with providing us with new grill tops throughout the meal. The meal includes ice cream at the end too. The meat selection was good for just $31.99 for dinner price. Ask for a side of sliced garlic and/or jalapeños to grill too. They recently took over this location from a previous owner so it's under new management now. I recommend you check it out soon.

What in the name of all things great and small has happened to Lucille's?…read more We hadn't been in several years and recently came here. We'd been to Lucille's probably half a dozen times over the years. Was always a solid joint that had decent bbq along with some southern style staples. Not sure what happened, but here are some highlights. Daughter got the southern fried chicken. Her chicken breast looked like Col. Kilgore from Apocalypse Now called in a napalm strike on it. It did not survive. Whomever was manning the deep fryer was obviously derelict in their duty. They may fallen asleep as my daughter's chicken went through the nine levels of Hell. We brought this to the attention of a lady who identified herself as a manager-in-training. Only because we couldn't find our waitress. After waiting for probably 20 minutes, we also notified our waitress, whom we finally located. She said she would check. Finally, a non-burnt to a crisp chicken breast came out. Our waitress apologized, saying, "We're really busy right now." Ok, I get it. But, that's the absolute last thing you wanna say to a customer. If this were Family Feud and the top five answers to, "Things wait staff should never say to a customer" were on the board - number one answer and not even close. My jambalaya was ok, but needed some heat. When I asked for hot sauce and further inquired about what kind of hot sauces they had, I was presented with Tabasco. Any self respecting "Southern" joint should have all kinds of said sauces. Maybe it's me. Overall, all of our food looked like it had sat under a warming lamp for a time. You know, the coagulated gravy, the heat lamp crusty exteriors. Even the famous biscuits were subpar. A little stiff. Not like we remembered them. Service was nice, but sparse. Never asked if drink refills were wanted. Too few check ins. The topper was our table. Either the chairs were just slightly too high or the table top was just a smidge too short. Awkward. Plus, it looked like a circa 1973 fold out table that only came out during Aunt Lucille's bridge games. The good part - our son's brisket was pretty good. Wifey's chicken survived the surface of the Sun death fry and was decent. Not sure if we'd give it another go.

All the tables were full and there was one party of 11 just ahead of us. Our wait for a table was like 30 minutes or so. Once we were up we were guided to a table towards the back for five. Our server asked if we been here before and if we wanted anything else besides water to drink. My brother and his fiance split a full order of the beef ribs and side order of sauteed garlic green beans. My mom and step dad split a full order of beef ribs while I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs which came with two side orders. I picked coleslaw and onion rings which I shared with the family. The food came out promptly. Everyone enjoyed their food. The baby back ribs were moist with flavor, smoked and went well with their bbq sauce. The rest of the family really like their beef ribs. *** SCAM ALERT *** I…read moredon't use the word "SCAM" lightly, but that's what this was. My adult son called in a $281.62 order off the menu for Mother's Day. They would not accept the order or payment over the phone because the order was "too big." They asked that someone go there and pay up front for the entire order. Since it was the evening before Mother's Day, I drove to them and paid for the order. Yes, I was also presented with a minumum 20% TIP screen, which I declined. When I got there at pickup time (4:00pm) on Mother's Day, the price changed to $325.51. I was told that, for some reason, they had cut about 50% larger portions than the menu specified (see the line items, which should have been 1 lb. each), so they charged me for the difference ($325.51 - $281.62) which was $43.89 (about 50% more for the 2 items they cut heavier). No, there was no mention when I placed the order that the total cost might change due to extra meat. Neither is it shown on their web site or printed menus. When I protested, there was no option. If I don't pay the $43.89 difference, I don't get the Mother's Day food. After about 20 minutes of bickering at the counter with two different clerks (note the time stamp differences on the credit card slips), I was given my original order, with a net price reduction of ($281.62 - $254.93) $26.69. My persistence had paid off. On a positive note, the cook did, twice, walk up to me and quietly apologize for what was going on. I know many folks would have folded in this situation, but that's not my nature. I don't stand for dishonesty. Yes, it was embarrassing, other clients in line were not happy (I let them skip ahead of me so as not to inconvenience them). None of them had price increases. I don't know if the clerks wanted a tip because the management doesn't pay them much, or it this goes deeper and is standard operating procedure that assumes most clients will simply approve of the overage and pay up. In any case, from this client's point of view, this is a SCAM! When it was all over, I took my 11 and 12 year old grandsons (who had been sitting patiently waiting for grandpa to pay) and my food package to the car, drove home and proudly presented the meat to my family. After all, I am a hunter-gatherer; and the food was great!
