Mpower truly redefines what it means to be part of an enriching fitness environment. The staff is knowledgeable and well-informed, and the trainers are highly skilled in their specialties--whether it's powerlifting, HIIT, or boxing, there's something here for everyone. Don't join this gym unless you want for them to STEAL your hard-earned money and then lie to you. After 6 months of membership, I got fed-up with the pattern- The gym double-charged me in August, as well as started charging me every 3 weeks instead of once/mo., & then, in October, they randomly charged me $45. So I went through the hassle of cancelling my debit card to get a replacement and wrote a detailed 1-month advanced cancellation note. And instead of offering me a refund, they had the audacity to leave a voicemail with a lie- indicating that I owed them $74.90. read more

I honestly don't understand what their business mission. They have had over 20 years servicing miami shores residents and now it's been over 3 months with no updates or progress in the new location. My favorite gym! The staff is always accommodating and super friendly. They just remodeled the whole gym and it came out beautiful. Had my first personal training experience here. Really helped me focus on my fitness goals. I have been to other "big name" gyms but nothing beats a local community gym. They just put the focus on YOU. M Power Project is the neighborhood Miami Shores gym. This gym has free weights, machines, a cardio area, classes, and a martial arts studio. They also offer personal training. In the two years I have been going here, I have never found the gym to be crowded. The free weight area with a good selection of dumbells ranging from 10 to 100 pounds. There are also incline, decline, and adjustable benches in this area. The machine area has a pretty wide selection of the standard weight machines, weighed by both plates and free weights. There are also pulley and smith machine setups and an area to do some floor exercises. For cardio, it is mostly treadmills with some climber/eliptical machines. There are 2 flat screens from the ceiling which are visible while doing cardio. I've never taken a class, but they offer spinning, yoga, sculpting, Zumba, and boot camp classes in a separate studio. The staff are super-friendly, and the facilities are certainly adequate to get a good workout. The memberships are also pretty cheap - less than $400 for a full year. However, compared to other gyms I have been a member of, I would have to say it is pretty middle of the road. Not bad, and certainly not awesome. However it is less than a mile from my house which is great. If I lived closer, I would probably join the new LA Fitness in North Miami as I have been a member of LA Fitness in Kendall and I thought the facilities were awesome for the price. read more

MPower Project Gym - Gyms Near Me - Miami Shores, Florida

This gym is insanely expensive for the rapidly aging equipment. I was in the market for a gym and tried this one due to proximity. They wanted something like a $350 join fee, and some complicated monthly amount thereafter. A lot of the machines and the water fountains were broken, and not to mention the gym is in need of a makeover. Also, the OWNER of the gym usually works out at LA Fitness. I see him. Quaint neighborhood gym, has all the essentials ranging from free weights, cardio (ie stair stepper, bikes, treadmills, etc.), basic gym machines, 2 rooms and specialized equipment (ie TRX, therapy balls, kettle bells, etc). Lockers available and very clean facility. read more

I have been with MPower Project Gym for over 4 years, and despite many attempts from friends to join their gym (don't even get me started on LA fitness, check out my review from the Miami Gardens location), I always find myself coming back to this humble gym situated in the heart of Miami Shores. Here's why: Throughout 4 years of being a member, I have seen this gym grow and only get better. Why? Because they actually listen to their members and put into action improvements that will only create a better gym experience. I can definitely say that there are advantages with a small community gym: the owner and workers know your name, smaller class sizes, and the over all friendliness of familiar faces. If you are a Miami Shores resident, you know the advantages location wise of this gym since it sits right across Publix (grocery run after a work out for the win!). The layout of this gym is a little cramped, but easy to navigate as there are visible sections for every type of workout including free weights, machines, cardio, circuit training/HIIT, spinning, and the gym class. Membership is straight forward (I pay about $33 a month), and there are specials throughout the year too! You can also bring a guest as well, and their policy for that is generous, I've brought many people with me and they are very open about it. My favorite thing about this gym are the classes, the teachers are phenomenal!! They did have an issue back in the day hiring teachers, but they eventually straightened things out and they always find someone to teach each class for anyone that shows up. Equipment in the gym class like weights are outdated and missing from time to time, but the teachers are able to adjust accordingly as well. The facility itself may look outdated, but they are improving the interior little by little! Things they do need to work on or considered a con are their outdated locker rooms, although always clean, as well as their very limited parking lot. There are other places to park but they are not very clear as to where they are located. Considering all of these things, I recommend checking this gym out! read more

POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE. I started going to M Power Project in Miami Shores on March 7 and made 2 payments, one for one month and another for a month of a private trainer. When my bank statement came, there was an extra charge on the same day. Regardless of the fact that I gave them a copy of the statement where they can clearly see the charge, they refuse to acknowledge it, which I find unprofessional and flat out inappropriate business behavior. After several attempts to politely address the issue with both the staff and management, they simply refuse to recognize this matter. It is not about the $29, it is a matter of good business practice and respect for the costumers. read more

This is the first time I've ever posted on Yelp, because I'm so frustrated with the shoddy, inattentive, overpriced service provided by this gym. When I first signed up, I was urged to try an upgraded membership which included classes. I was told that if I didn't use the classes, I would easily be able to downgrade to a regular membership. After several months of attending maybe 1 class, I tried to downgrade my membership. I left various messages for various people and no one ever called me back. I was still going to the gym, but no one that was there seemed to know how to help me. When I became pregnant, I had to go on bed rest, so I left several unreturned messages again to try to suspend my membership. I was told the manager is only there Mon-Fri from 12-2 - not exactly peak gym hours. I finally went to the gym during those hours (not convenient for me) and the manager told me I could suspend my membership indefinitely. After 3 months, they started automatically charging my credit card again. I finally had to just end my membership out of sheer frustration, even though I know I will want it after my baby is born next month. I had to pay a $100 cancellation fee. I'm so upset because this gym is so convenient for me, but I didn't want to continue paying for a service I didn't use. It seems the ownership would consider having someone run the gym that works for more than 10 hours a week. I would strongly urge anyone thinking about opening a gym consider Miami Shores as an option. There are lots of us who are looking for a reasonably priced, clean gym with good service. read more

The only benefits to this gym are location and the fact that it's never packed. It is generally kept marginally dirty, and the classes are somewhat boring. The main cardio, aside from treadmills and such, is Spinning. The other classes are stuck in the same place with the same teachers. The latest Zumba addition is not enticing. The music throughout can drive you nuts one day, or encourage you the next- depending on who is behind the counter. The management just changed, but little has been done to the selection of classes, the selection of music, or the selection of a good cleaning crew. MPower Project Gym is so popular that the cockroaches can't resist jumping on you trying to get to the equipment.This place is a mess ~ dirty and with a foul odor. I realize it's a gym but their efforts in maintaing a clean environment fall far short of acceptable.As for customer service, I don't believe it's a part of their business model.The staff is friendly when their selling you and if they are in a good mood.The owner Chris is beyond rude in his attitude and demeanor. I recently tried to ask him a question and his response in a rude way was "I'm Busy". That was it, I have had enough of feeling abused. I would never recommend MPower Project GYM to anyone ~ your wellness is not what they care about, it's what you have in your pocket $$$. This gym has friendly staff but the owner is disrespectful, greedy & cheap! He will take your money and change up on you on the last minute. If you have no other choice in gym then just invest in house equipment. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there, especially honest hard working people. read more

this gym is not worth the price. there are other options with many many more services and equipment that are priced about the same--LA Fitness is fantastic and close by. I did not find the staff here particularly friendly or helpful. Also the mangement seems to change every few months. Recently the gym must have hit hard times as most of the treadmills were out of service and the 1 water fountain--the only source of water--was broken and not working for about 3 weeks. I cancelled my memebership so not even sure if they ever got the water fountain working. read more
