A nice bowl of warm soup was on my mind so I ended up trying their house soup. It reminded me of a minestrone with the beans and veggies in a tomato base except the meat was beef pot roast. I heard amazing things about the fig n awesome burger and if you like that sweet/salty combo then this hits the spot. My burger had the right amount of fig jam and with the salty burger meat and caramelized onions, it all worked perfectly together. The sweet potato fries are nice and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. If you've never dipped sweet potato fries into some honey mustard then you're missing out because it's such a good combo! I was so famished, I ate most of my food except for maybe a handful of fries. The service was good, not great, but it was a Friday night, and 10 of us had a reservation at 715. Our table was ready, and a fairly manageable flow of people came in and out during our stay. The food was excellent with good quality ingredients and good flavor. Portions are large. The Veg wrap (I added chicken) was seasoned well and plentiful. Words are not enough to express the kind of value this gem really is in the area. From the outside it may not look like a big place but the minute you walk in is the minute you realize that we should never judge a book for its cover. I believe this restaurant opened up not too long ago, and thought to give it a try! We went for lunch around 2:30pm on a Saturday to avoid dinner rush, and it was fairly quiet. The staff was very kind and attentive, checked in on us often. The cheese curds were delicious. I had the pot roast dip sandwich with sweet potato fries. The fries were probably my favorite, nothing beats a beautifully cooked sweet potato fry. The sandwich was great, although I feel like it was missing something. My husband and I decided to try Meat & Potato Urban Kitchen after a recommendation from a friend. What a great recommendation it was. With a name like this we had to try the meat and potatoes. As an appetizer we ordered the spud nachos. This is a take on traditional nachos but with homemade potato chips instead of nacho chips. They come loaded with queso cheese sauce, bacon bits, tomato, sour cream, and green onions. You can add meat, but we elected not to. The chips were crisp and the toppings did not make the chips soggy, even after half an hour. The toppings tasted great, overall this dish is a winner. The nachos were pretty filing so we decided to share the Mac Daddy Burger. This burger had bacon, mac n cheese, cheddar cheese, BBQ sauce on a brioche bun. The beef itself had an amazing flavor on its own. The additional toppings just added to the overall flavor. It was like getting another side of bacon mac and cheese on top of your hamburger. It also came with French fries, which were crispy and flavorful. I wanted to try the sweet potato fries but was overruled. The service was quick and friendly. The prices were a steal for the quality and quantity of food that was served. We didn't have any room for dessert but will come back to try the dessert menu (the pictures on Yelp look amazing) as well as other offerings. AVOID THIS RESTAURANT. oof. In all honesty, this has got to be the worst experience of my life attending a restaurant. My "server" was a women, and during the times we spoke I could sense her hostility. I chose to disregard it because I was waiting on family to arrive, we were celebrating a special occasion. Once they arrived, we were ready to order. We went over the order with her 4 times before the tickets were sent to the back, as one of my siblings has a dietary restriction. Keep in mind, the interaction was very minimal and straightforward. She never relayed they were understaffed, apologized, or smiled. No customer service, NOTHING. At first we didn't mind, I explained to my siblings that things happen and to sit patiently while we wait on the food. Our food was brought out to us incorrectly. I'm a foodie so, again I didn't care. I ate it as it was, even if it was incorrect. However, the food I ordered for my sibling with a dietary restriction was also wrong, so I politely called her over to discuss the issue. Omg, she was livid and it made us all uncomfortable but regardless of her poor behavior I kept my cool and reassured her mistakes happen but he simply couldn't eat it and if it could be fixed. SHE brought it out a second time and again it was wrong. BROUGHT IT A THIRD TIME AND WRONG AGAIN mind you it was just a burger with two patties, pickles, lettuce and his side of fries. Every time she came back she was more angry and she started throwing the food to the table. I asked for the check after the third time and we didn't even finish our dinner we got it to go because the vibe had shifted to where we no longer felt comfortable staying. When she brought the check I asked her why the burger was included in my bill if it had been done incorrectly three times mind you I only spoke up because not only did she ruin our dinner but her behavior for a grown women working in a costumer service based field was disgusting. She addressed me with an attitude and said something along the lines of I'm losing money it was brought out to you three times gaslighting me to think I was the problem as the PAYING COSTUMER. So I asked for a manager, PLOT TWIST, This was the manager. She never shared her name. She never apologized NEVER COMMUNICATED or engaged appropriately with us. I told her if this bill reflected her service and she said yes. I told her ok and paid the $89.91 for food we didn't order and couldn't finish in the restaurant. Later on she felt embarrassed and sent an actual server to pick up the check and HE APOLOGIZED on her behalf. Once home I saw the reviews and realized this was a reoccurring issue. Overall place was trash and won't be returning. Also I would love to give credit where it's due and Miguel you did a great job addressing her aftermath as it was never about the my bill more so her professionalism that was giving cheap. read more

The waitress didn't offer to comp the drink or even offer to get me extra napkins to clean up. The person I was with wrote a review with this experience and the owner blatantly lied with his response on here saying he "checked the cameras" and I was given a replacement: there was NO replacement, I ordered two drinks and paid full amount for both, nothing was comp'd or given as a replacement- How unprofessional of the owner to lie! Can't say enough great things about M & P. Not only is the food delicious, and we have never had a bad meal here, but the staff is AMAZING. I've been in hospitality for 25 years and trust me, I notice everything and I'm hyper critical. We recently visited last Saturday night and all our favorite people were working. Saul and Ruby are the absolute best. They go out of their way to make us feel so welcome. It means so much! Top notch customer service. And they were not even waiting on us on that night.....Ashley was our server. What a caring, hospitable individual she was! Great personality, so genuine. Beyond fantastic! We stopped in on a Saturday for a late lunch. There were a handful of occupied tables, but throughout our time there was a steady stream of customers. They were short on staff, one waitress, and one hostess but they get an A + for service. We started out with the cheese curds. They were lightly fried . The chipotle ranch dipping sauce had a slight kick. I had the meatloaf sandwich based on several reviews. The meatloaf sandwich was very similar to a Salisbury steak. It was topped with thin, fried onions. I also had sweet potato fries, I always get a bit upset that there is an upcharge for sweet potato fries. My husband had The Burger. It came topped with ketchup, mayo and other condiments. I liked how the entrees were presented in a cast iron like skillet. Damn this place is TASTY. Kinda pricey but sooo good. Honestly the best meatloaf I've had - super juicy and so much flavor. Delicious with the mashed potatoes and veggies and comes wrapped in bacon. The Fig N Awesome burger is probably my favorite. The fig jam, caramelized onions, havarti, and burger patty really meld together into a perfect sweet and savory meal. You'll end up really sticky, but it'll be completely worth it. I've also had the pot roast dip and it was really delicious. A bit too much for me but really savory and decadent. If you love pot roast I'd definitely give it a try and if you've never liked pot roast, this might turn you into a believer. Haven't had the chance to dine in, all of our orders have been for carry-out, but we've been impressed with every single order and are more than happy to come back over and over. Going to drop in for dinner at some point and check out their drink menu as well. If you're looking for a place to eat in the downtown Wheeling area, I would give this a shot before City Works even though it might seem more appealing. The food arrived in a timely fashion, the service was great - our waitress was super kind - and the small selection of beers really impressed me. My friend and I split the potato skins (there's only 2 pieces but they're good!), and we also enjoyed a Buffalo chicken wrap (a bit of a kick). The flourless chocolate cake was the best part...
