Worst company in the area. The service was ineffective after four months. The techs were not knowledgeable and the management was rude and confrontational. They showed up for a deep treatment without notifying us that preparation was needed - causing a month delay. Treatment was still ineffective. They then made unauthorized charges on my credit card and even a cancelation fee. Would rate ZERO if I could. Wish I had time for a civil suit. read more

100% agree with all the other reviews here... They came to our door at 7:35 PM, on Memorial Day... This company is a pain in the ass to all the neighborhoods in the Northern Virginia area... They blatantly ignore No Soliciting signs and continue to push their product after repeatedly being told NO. The company's pathetic attempts at an apology just will not do - They clearly don't learn the lesson, or don't care. You'd think multiple pages of reviews bashing them for these tactics would drive the point home. REPORT them to the BBB and your local Consumer Protection Division within the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney who handles complaints about deceptive business practices and harassment. We had one named Jayden(?), today, who wouldnt stop pestering my elderly grandmother. They tried throwing the classic "I do work for your neighbor" bullshit. After telling him over and over in a gentle way that she didn't want the service, he just kept on and on.. I was listening thru the Ring camera and finally had enough and went downstairs and said in exact words "I've heard her tell you four times she doesn't want the service. Take a step back, and have a nice day." ..and they do this every year.. Despite the fact that there is a NO SOLICITING sign on the mailbox.. He also gets SUPER close to the door, unnecessarily so if you're making a sales pitch... You don't need to be right up on my door like you're about to come in... He also had to be told to leave multiple times. After we closed the door my grandmother thanked me and said "yeah, he's one of the more pushy ones" indicating that this has happened numerous times... read more

I haven't had a bad experience yet with Moxie's services. Every technician I encounter is very nice, professional, and easy to talk to. I utilize Moxie for the Mosquito Pro Maintenance, and the Pest Control Maintenance. I really like that I can have them come back as many times as I need in order to reservice an area for free. When I'm not present for a service, my ring cameras capture everything. These technicians take a lot of care, and the services are done very professionally. read more

I needed to terminate the exorbitant contract at my 96-year-old father's property. I am not sure they actually come, as he'll get a notice they sprayed for ants, and he'll be overrun with ants. They aggressively emailed and called every day after his credit card expired and I said I'd pay the final bill but wanted the service discontinued. I warned them not to contact my father, who has dementia. They DEMANDED a power of attorney be emailed to them or they'd forcibly continue their service, billing and harassment. This company is up with American Home Shield in terms of harassment and aggressive techniques. I cannot wait to just put in those little ant traps for $5 instead of their $268 "spraying" and never hear from them again. read more

Guy from here showed up on my doorstep at dinner time, acting like a MAJOR creep. Knocked aggressively, and when I answered and asked if I could help him, he just leaned against a pillar on our porch and said, "...yeah." No pitch, no sale... just weird silence. (God help any woman these creeps visit). Finally at prompting he started in with, "Well we're in the neighborhood helping your neighbors..." (common line, no... they're NEVER helping your neighbors), so I told him I'm not interested and started to shut the door. Creep starts talking faster, then continues standing on my porch mouthing off. Quick read tells me the whole company is a perfect fit for creeps like this, so I ain't gonna waste my time telling them they should fire him. Just be aware if you're looking for pest services apparently these guys are the 4-Chan of the pest control world. (Who knew there was even a niche for something this awful?) read more

We had a 'mouse-in-the-house', and called Moxie. This was back in late '24. They came out servicing the insides and the outsides, promising to return 'monthly' ... they DID NOT. When they did return it was a quick and quiet walk around the outsides of my house ONLY ! They never even knocked. For this half-ass 'service' (if you'd care to call it that) they attempted to charge a full service fee. I called Moxie on their inept 'service' and cancelled immediately over the phone. IMO- they have poor service and LOUSY customer relations. Avoid at all cost. They deserve a "D-". read more

Outright subscription scam. They come around door-to-door, offer a discounted service, get you under contract and just keep billing fees. Totally ignore the "no soliciting" sign on the doors around our neighborhood, too. As far as the service itself, I've seen no difference between having them spray their crap around the house vs. no service at all. Same flies, ants, spiders, stink bugs as always. Tried to cancel several times, they pretend they don't have any record of it and keep billing. Now they're trying to get me for another quarterly subscription fee and demanding I pay. Harassing me over text and phone calls. Stay the hell away and just go to Lowes or buy the same spray crap online and do it yourself. NOT WORTH THE MONEY or the aggravation. read more

He also placed bait traps and sticky pads in my utility room for mice intrusion. I was a customer of Moxie for a little over 6 months and I will say that my bugs got worse after signing up. We had several additional appointments to address these concerns but they seemed to be to no avail. The bugs got larger and more frequent. I will say that the techs that work for this company are nice but the price associated with the service considering my experience, not worth it at all. Next, you should read the fine print on the contract because there is NO WAY OUT! Even if the service isn't working and the additional treatments aren't working, NO WAY OUT! I even sold my house and moved to a state that doesn't have Moxie. Nope, NO WAY OUT. I had to end up paying the early termination fee which was 80% of the total remaining fees for the year. They were "nice enough" to wave $50 of that fee after I thoroughly explained the situation with bugs and it not helping but I feel as tho I shouldn't be in the hook for services that I do not feel met my expectations. I'm putting this review out there so that buyers can beware and not sign up for such services. Looking back, I should have just bought some supplies and did it myself. I would have saved myself headache and a ton of money. Also, I NEVER leave negative reviews so this is saying something. read more

Moxie promise the moon and stars and delivers nothing. I asked for pest control in my kitchen and study. In two visits they never did anything. When I called to complain I was told something would be done immediately. Nothing happened. When the next tech came and started outside I told him the problem was outside but he wouldn't budge. He refused to give me a card so I could call his office. I told him to get off my property and that I was cancelling the contract. I also called their office. They never offered alternatives or solutions. After a week they said theey were going to charge me $299 termination fee. Since they in breach of contract I asked him how they could do this. They threatened to take me to small claims court and I said go ahead I'll sue you for my legal fees since you never provided the services you promised. They then went to Discovered and billed me. I am appealing to Discover citing VA contract law. Which is on my side. I had to go with Orkin. Always pay more for an honest job rather than these crooks. Yelp gives them a very poor rating and many people have a similar experience to mine. Consumer beware. read more

I used their services for about five years but could never really say I was satisfied with them. Their pricing seemed high and the one issue I needed dealt with--mice--never seemed to be fully addressed. Most importantly, this company seems to have a business model of creating their own business. A year or two into our relationship they recommended a termite treatment, at a cost of several thousand dollars, based on termites found several yards from my house. A couple years later, they offered a free attic inspection. The inspector then told me that I likely had mice in my attic and probably snakes--a classic line to instill fear in the homeowner and have them agree to what the company wanted to do, which was take out all of my current insulation and replace it with new insulation at a far greater cost than the termite treatment. What was the final straw for me though was their promising to offer that same free attic inspection again recently. When I said "no" they didn't politely respect my wishes and move on, but asked repeatedly 5 or 6 more times via phone call and text, each time seeming to take my no for an answer until a couple of days later when they conveniently had a technician in the neighborhood. When I sent them written notification that our business relationship was over, they said they needed me to call them for "security reasons," even though I had also texted them several times telling them that we are done. The have continued to text saying that my account is still active. I have recently notified them that I will be seeking a protective order if they don't stop. Hopefully that will put an end to it. read more

The lying, shady young man who aggressively came to my door (unfortunately right when a package delivered so I actually answered) was so off putting that I checked to make sure he wasn't trying to distract me at the front door while someone broke into my house from the basement. He would not accept that I didn't want services, lied about neighbors signing up with him, and was selling a service that's both expensive and incomplete - certainly to upsell for regular services later. Honestly I think he believed I'm an idiot. Instead of arguing with him, I just stood my ground of NO and eventually he left. But it got to the point where I felt so uncomfortable with him I almost called a neighbor for safety purposes. read more

I've been very disappointed with the service. The technicians don't show up on the days they're scheduled, ignore requests, and keep changing appointments without proper notice. They also fail to follow up after treatments. I'm still dealing with roaches and have had to purchase my own treatments because the service hasn't been effective. An incredibly uncomfortable experience at our door. A young man had already been told by my husband walking our kid on the sidewalk we don't use any pesticides. We have an Audubon certified habitat sign, that should be the first clue. As the young man went into his pitch I said we don't use any pesticide. He said, yeah, your husband just said that. So why are you here? He asked how we control ants in our house. I said we don't have any. He said my pesticide is organic. I said it doesn't matter. All pesticides kill all bugs and insects - there is no discrimination. He said but you don't want bugs. I said, yes we do, look around, the world is falling apart. Insects are a critical part of the ecosystem. I said, we're not interested and have a nice day. He insisted on talking over me and continuing as I closed the door. Geesh. Btw the best mosquito control is BT in five gallon buckets. Our property is very wet and we never have them since starting this three years ago. $5-10 a year. Google it! read more

Caveat emptor... Buyer beware! Moxie uses fear tactics and aggressive sales to trick you into a contract that is 50% higher than the small businesses, Mom & Pop shops around the corner from your house. First of all, the representative went into the woods to look for "termites "of course you're going to find termites in the woods... It's the woods. He proceeded to tell me that it was eminent before they went and attacked my house and that I needed to have the $2400 service to ensure that my house does not get attacked by Swarmers. We negotiated the price of putting traps around the house down to $1,750. Still not having a good feeling about the entire process I was able to get a comparable quote for less than half of that! Even then, the agent from the other pest control company said I don't need it, but if I wanted to the process would be simple and less expensive. He then walked around the house to look at the bait traps that Moxie left behind and the correct bait wasn't even in the traps. It was basically empty a scam. Bottom line make sure you do your research on all the companies you encounter, mostly Moxie because they are after your wallet, not the bugs. read more

Salesperson stated that my neighbors, William and Valerie use them and that he will give me a special discount only today if I sign up with them in that very moment. I don't appreciate pushy sales; especially after I told him that I was using another company and I am totally satisfied with them. The sales rep came to my door and I was not able to answer the door, the sales rep then called out to my 6 year old son through an open window in the house and asked him to come to the door. Fortunately, my son asked me first asked if he could open the door. A few minutes later, I was able to answer the door and the sale rep was riding a modern electrical scooter across my lawn. I ask the sale rep to stop and dismount the scooter and he refused, then continued to ride off the property to the street. I called the local company office and asked to speak with the branch manager, after being put on hold for over 9 minutes, I was told the manager would return my call. It was dark. When I explained that we are not interested and that the late night knocking was inappropriate and said goodbye, the man asked more questions and as I began to close my front door he approached more closely with more questions. It wouldn't matter to me for a second if they were excellent exterminators with how they treat people.
