Hired AG for my move from North Hollywood to Glendale this week. They had one of the lowest quotes that I received, but what made me move forward with the booking was my text communication with Julia. I was concerned about the move of my 94″ long sleeper sofa which had to be brought in over my balcony. I'm on the 1st floor but this complex only has stairs and my unit was in a very tight corner hallway. I was able to text pictures to Julia and explain everything. In the end we agreed that 3 movers would be the best option. I'm really glad I went with 3 because it helped the move stay within the 3-hour minimum. The guys didn't speak much English but they listened to me, were very polite and worked very hard! They were quick thinkers and handled every obstacle with ease. I honestly couldn't recommend them more. Hiring movers is always stressful and such a crap shoot, but this company was great! Sam and his team were patient and diligent. Sam was honest, asked all the right questions, and clearly knew what he was doing. We had what I thought would be a complicated move, combining two apartments (including one with a painful elevator setup) into one, and they made it feel simple. They were even super accommodating when we hit a snag and the truck could not physically maneuver into the driveway (by no fault of theirs), which only added more labor for them. Still, no complaints from them, so no complaints from me. They finished much earlier than expected and there were no surprises when it came time to pay. read more

There's a bit of a language barrier - Give them water, juice, soda, juice - After loading, paid half of the quote plus stair fees - After unloading, paid the other half of the quote plus additional stair fees - Tipped 20% - Receipts provided through Clover (1 for deposit, 1 for half after loading, 1 for remaining half after unloading) but they don't include tip amount - They will provide papers and a photo of the paperwork with cost breakdown if you ask for it Long response: This was my first time doing a major move and I didn't know where to start or what questions to ask, especially for a long distance move from SoCal (Orange County) to NorCal (South Bay Area). I decided to go with Moving service AG because they gave me the best quote, but I ended up paying a more due to stair fees. Aside from the stair fees, their price was still the best, but make sure to mention stairs and provide photos if you can for an accurate quote. Also ask how many movers will be present because this will determine how long the move may take. Sandy was the main point of contact and was very quick to reply. There's definitely a high demand for movers and it was my bad for not booking them immediately for my desired date that I had in my inquiry. I worked with Sandy to try and figure out what other day would work for us and then I sent over a deposit to confirm my appointment. On move-in day, 2 movers showed up at 10am when they were supposed to arrive at 8am. It wasn't that big of a deal for me, but that meant the drive up would be delayed. There was a bit of a language barrier, but I primarily communicated with Beck, who was the foreman of the operation and the one who assessed the stairs for the additional cost. I had 3 flights of stairs and no elevator, but these guys did such a great job at moving my things out. I made sure to provide them with drinks throughout the day to make sure they stayed hydrated. By the time they finished loading, I did a final check to make sure everything was good before they took off. At this point it was 3pm and they still had to drive up 7-8 hours. I paid for half of the quote (minus the deposit) plus the additional cost for the stairs. I gave the guys $20 to get some snacks and drinks for the long drive up. The guys arrived in the Bay Area around 10:30pm-11pm. My new place had stairs that were also narrow so there was another additional charge for that. The guys unloaded the truck and reassembled my furniture inside. By the time they finished, it was about 1:30am. I paid for the remaining portion of the quote plus the additional cost for the stairs at my new place and tipped 20% of the total cost. REMEMBER TO TIP YOUR MOVERS! Not only did these guys disassemble my furniture and pack my things, they drove 7-8 hours to unload and reassemble my furniture at my new place. And once they finished unloading, they had to drive all the way back to SoCal! These guys work hard so PLEASE TIP THEM. I'll admit the move was stressful because it was a long distance move, but AG Moving Service really did an amazing job. Some feedback for the company is to be upfront about the cost of stairs when providing a quote. I assumed my quote included the cost of stairs because I thought it was implied when I mentioned my pick-up address being on the 3rd floor and my destination address being a 2-story condo. That 2-story condo ended up before a tri-floor so the additional cost was understandable. It would've been nice to get an invoice with the quote prior to the move and provided a copy of the paperwork the movers had me sign. My new job provided some relocation assistance and the receipts from Clover were insufficient for the reimbursement. I reached out to Sandy and asked for a copy of the paperwork, and thankfully, Sandy was able to text it to me that same day. However, I think that's something that should be given to the customer by default. Overall, good communication from start to finish and my things made it from Point A to Point B. Searching for reliable & effective movers can sometimes feel like finding a needle in a haystack but thanks to their reviews on Yelp, I felt like these guys would do a great job. And we were NOT disappointed! Sandy was able to squeeze us in a moving date with less than a week's time and kept in contact confirming the appt as well as our moving needs. On moving day, Beck made sure to text a couple times, letting us know his expected ETA. (We were his 2nd move that day.) They showed-up on time and we went over the whole condo together, room-by-room. (Some items were staying due to 'staging' for the sale of the unit. And yes, we WILL be using them again for the final move after the sale of the condo.) Beck always double-checked w/ me to ensure they were grabbing all of the correct items. I received a prompt response. After an extensive back and forth, learned that the "three hour minimum" only applies to moving time and driving time does not apply. So if you only have to move a few things say two hours of moving and two hours of driving they expect to charge you for three hours of moving (because of the minimum) even though there was driving and the total hours worked was over the three hour minimum. It took a lot of direct and repeated questions to understand that overcharging strategy. Needless to say, I had no interest in dealing with a company with such a perverse definition of a "three hour minimum." read more
