Found this little gem quite by accident! I met my sister who lives in Southern Maine and I live in MWV for lunch! It was pleasantly cool inside as it was 90 degrees outside! The main diningroom is a bit cramped, but a good selection of small & larger party seating. We both had wrap sandwiches and selected crispy fries as our sides. Win win! I tried the fried haddock sandwich, and asked for it to be wrapped instead of bulky roll! Delish! The chicken sandwich wrap was also so good! Although it was a Saturday, we lingered and visited and never felt rushed! Limited parking could present an issue when really busy .. but we will be back! read more

Had no concept of where this place was when we first went, we were coming back from VT and somehow ended up here. Lo and behold, we have a house in the NH lakes region, are looking for a place to eat and settle on a sandwich place in Center Ossipee. What do we notice on the way back from the sandwich place, not 200 yards away? Mountainview Station! My first reaction is mixed because I'm furious we didn't know (and our phones didn't tell us) this place was RIGHT HERE all along and we settled on a standard sandwich place. Much happier now as we know we can get here in 20-25 minutes. On several return trips, had another club sandwich and it was just as good as the first, some fried oysters and mussels (not fried), clam chowder, a salmon dish (which came in this odd, charming little steel tray), some specials...everything was great. I'm not a meatloaf person but that may be my next thing (wait, I just read my prior review and someone ordered the meatloaf and I must have tried some and liked it). We always manage to get here about 20 minutes before they close on a Sat. but they are patient and sweet with us (or at least convincingly pretend to be!). I should mention the interior: it's a legit old rail station and with its super high ceilings and interesting assortment of train memorabilia it retains quite a bit of that old-world charm; like from when coming up to NH was a bigger deal than shooting up from Boston in 100 minutes perched behind the wheel of your Porsche Cayenne. The tracks still run through the back, too. If you're cruising up or down 16 around Ossipee make a point of going here. Even if you're not around Ossipee go here, it's really that good. They also take the social distancing thing seriously and I feel about as safe as I can when going here. I really shouldn't write this as we could do without the competition for tables, especially when the outdoor seating area closes...so I take it all back. read more

We've eaten here often over the years and the food has always been good, but in the past two weeks we've gone twice and the food seems even better and the service was awesome. Both times recently, my husband had the chicken bacon wrap and really enjoyed it. One time, I had the scallops and another time a salad with steak tips. Both were perfectly cooked. Almost all entrees come with French fries and coleslaw. The French fries are great and the coleslaw is very fresh. read more

They're back and it's better than ever!!! After a devastating incident, a car drove in to the restaurant. Repairs have been done. The front has a facelift and the people that make your visit here are all glad to be back and will be really glad you see you come through the door. The food was amazing, came out hot and tasty, with good size portions. Beware the wait was over an hour. Also, regular customers are given preference in seating. I saw a couple get passed over for sitting to give others a seat (they did not have a reservation). The party passed was outside and never knew it happened but their wait time was doubled. Great food and great prices. Just hope all is well as the past few times we've been it seems the staff is not as chipper or interactive as they once were. Sadly, that kind of ruins the experience and has prompted us to consider patronizing other establishments. I hope this just isn't a sign of something bigger afoot and due to past experiences we will give it one more go. Came on a Thursday night so wasn't crowded at all. Interesting decor - used to be a railway station so good for families with kids interested in trains. Our server was friendly and amiable. We had local draft beers which were good. I didn't want anything fried, so ordered the baked scallops with red mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Everything was tasty. I would of liked to have seen more vegetarian offerings on the menu, there was Eggplant Parmesan but that is fried. My husband had meatloaf, roasted red potatoes and mashed butternut squash. He said it was excellent. We also split a tapioca pudding which was good to split, it was certainly enough! When we got the bill we were pleasantly surprised to find out all of that we had, 2 beers, 2 entrees, coffee and dessert came to less than $50. Never would happen where I'm from! read more

Food is terrific here. I had the seafood combo and there was plenty of food on the platter. Enough to take home and have another dinner for leftovers. The service is friendly, atmosphere is semi-quiet for such a small place but overall everything was excellent. I stop in on occasion when visiting family in the area and we eat here. We were out looking at the fall colors, and stopped by for lunch. The building is an old train station and the interior decor keeps with a train stop theme. Very cool! They have an excellent selection of beers on tap, and the menu also offers a good selection. We chose the Turkey Club Sandwich, the Haddock Sandwich and the Bourbon BBQ Turkey Tip Salad. Everything was fresh and tasty, and the portions were huge. We ate everything and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to mention that our waitress was attentive, friendly, and based on her conversations with the other patrons she seems to be a local and recently married. Stopped in for a late lunch. Were told we need a mask to walk 5 fee to a table at which point we would remove it to eat. We found this to be a bit ridiculous considering we were already standing beside our table. We decided to take our business elsewhere. The waitress felt the need to shout "Don't let the door hit you in the ass" as we were leaving. Extremely rude. Will never go there again. If you want to continue to be mask Nazi's, even after the Statewide mandate has been lifted, then greet customers at the door and insist they put one on. Once seated everyone is obviously mask less all sitting in close proximity to each other but I guess it only matters while you are standing. It's fine to have your own rules for your business but to be rude about it is stupid. We have eaten here over the years many times but never again. You have lost more than one customer for life. read more

Nice local restaurant. The food is very good. The wait staff are very friendly. One evening a few of us ordered the mead. The waitress said they were all out. 10 mins later the waitress came back to the table and said that they went to the meadery (which is across the street) and got some for us. Great food and service. I love that they have a selection of tap beer -- not a huge selection, but some good local beers. Good variety of home style American fare. My friends and I were in town for a little girl's weekend and needed to kill some time before we checked into the house. We went to the sap house across the street and then stopped in here for a quick bite. You could tell that everything they were serving was homemade with love and not from a box (unlike the tourist trap Ossipee Mountain grill). Our waitress was so lovely and so very sweet when I told her I had a gluten allergy. She had them leave out the bread from the French onion soup (on her suggestion! I didn't even have to ask!). Let me tell you, it was the BEST French onion I have ever had. So packed with flavor. It was so rich and delicious. With yummy, gooey Swiss melted on top. Mmm! My friend also loved her chowder. This is a quaint, no frills roadside diner. They serve beer, wine & hard seltzer. They had a specials board with some delicious looking items as well. Truly a hidden gem. We moved to this area about 2 years ago and this has become our local go to place. I'd recommend a certain meal, but each meal we've had here is just as good as the last one..It is an old train station and decorated as such. We had a great meal at Mountainview Station today. We were taking a fall foliage drive and looking for a restaurant in New Hampshire near the Maine border. I looked up the Mountainview Station on Yelp, and it did not disappoint. My husband ordered the turkey club and I have posted a photo here of the half that was left. It was Huge! I had the warm chicken/cheese/bacon wrap and it was delicious. The fries that came with the sandwich were also well seasoned. I was just about finished with my wrap when the waitress said "Did you save room for a homemade dessert? When she described a "Brownie Trifle" made with a homemade brownie, homemade chocolate pudding, real whipped cream and chocolate chips, I put the rest of my sandwich in a takeout box and ordered the dessert. My husband and I shared and I was still stuffed. The dessert could put many gourmet restaurants to shame. Now don't just go there for the dessert, as I think they rotate the desserts they make. But all the items we ordered were top notch. But do go there. It is a little off the highway so you will have to put it in your GPS, but if you are in the area, it is a must visit. read more

An amazing little hole in the wall diner! It was super cozy. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. The seafood is surprisingly high quality. I'd suggest the baked haddock or whole belly clams if you want seafood and the chicken bacon wrap ("crack wrap") if you don't. This place was really good when it first opened. There isn't much to choose from in Ossipee, so if it's getting late and your hungry it's not a bad place. I find this place really inconsistent. One night the food will be really good and the next night it will be undercooked and soggy. Like I said before there isn't much to choose from in Ossipee, that fact makes this place stay the way it is. There is no competition and that's a bad thing in my opinion. It allows them to stay inconsistent because people have no other choice. read more
