After setting up camp and Ossipee, we decided to find somewhere to eat. Mountain View Station had good reviews on yelp so we decided to try them. We walked in a little bit before the dinner rush. We were pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the food, friendliness of the staff, and decor of this restaurant. Located inside an old train station they have plenty of memorabilia from those days. I opened with a bowl of clam chowder, probably the best clam chowder I have ever had! My wife ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings while I their salad with grilled salmon. The dishes came out, surprisingly quick and wore absolutely delicious! For dessert decided on a piece of carrot cake. We truly enjoyed a great surprise and stopping here! Well done!

Another great meal and service. First time back since new ownership. The menu is slightly changed but the food still just as amazing. A must have is their hand battered onion rings. Super tender insides and perfectly crispy on the outside. Chicken Parmesan was tender yet crispy with a perfect tomato sauce over penne pasta. Love this small town flavor.

Such a cute place. They have a few different dining rooms. Very nice signs to give it a vintage feel. Our server came pretty quickly, and we ordered poutine as an appetizer, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and it was good. Not overpowering on the spice, I personally prefer a bit more. The chicken tenders were so good, huge portions! We had enough for lunch the next day. Overall great food and service. We took our kids and unfortunately, they do not have LIDS for the cups. This was a bit stressful since of course, they spilled their drink. They said they don't use straws because they got caught in the plumbing because people were dumping them in the sink. I get that, but a lid on the kids cup is a must.

This place is a bit random like a small place off the grid. Definitely nothing fancy but the food was surprisingly good for the most part! The service was amazing. The poutine was AMAZING. My husband also got the clam chowder which was pretty yummy. Everything else was good, not great. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it!

Was very pleased to find this treasure in Ossipee. A historic restaurant, the menu was diverse and simple. The waitresses were all extremely nice and funny and their crab cakes were delicious. I had the meatloaf and was pleasantly surprised by its homemade-esque flavors. The perfect consistency of onion and sauce. Will be coming back.

Scallops over penne - A plate of seafood pasta featuring noodles coated in a creamy sauce, with visible ingredients including mushrooms, tomatoes, and leafy greens. A bread roll is placed on the side of the dark blue plate. The dish appears to be served in a restaurant setting, with a fork partially visible and a glass of water or wine in the background.

If you are even close to this restaurant you have to find it . Our first time going and it was delicious, I had the scallops which was over penne with mushrooms, spinach and sun dried tomatoes and a delicious sauce. Wife had Salmon with Mustard sauce with asparagus and roasted potatoes, Salmon was cooked perfectly. Had the Mussels for an appetizer, PEI mussels in a great sauce. It is a smaller restaurant and they do take reservations so it is best to make one.

My family and I have been coming up to Madison annually for the last 9 years or so and we were looking for a new restaurant to visit. Yelp didn't disappoint. I was intrigued by the reviews and decided to take my family here to try it out. The first night we came (yes, we came twice in one trip!) was on a Thursday, It is very easy to miss this place, and Waze didn't do a great job directing us to the right building. Just look for what looks like an old train station, and you will be there. There is very limited parking in front of the restaurant, but plenty in the back. We were told there would be a 40 minute wait on the first night we went. It ended up being closer to 25 minutes. They give you a buzzer while you wait so you can sit outdoors if there is no space inside to wait. We were seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant with a padded bench. Behind us were cards and games and we found a deck of Uno cards to keep us entertained while we waited for food. It's the little things that add to the charm and appeal of this place. By boys really wanted their turkey club sandwich, but they ran out of turkey. In one way, you'd think I'd dock a star for them running out of food, but the reality is that it was the end of their open hours and the fact that they make fresh turkey every day just makes this place better! My boys ordered the chicken parm and ate it all up. It was a huge portion and they ate the leftover pasta next day for lunch. I had the clam chowder (they ran out of the fish chowder) and fish and chips and the fish and fries were amazing. Perfectly fried! A few days later we decided to come back with my in-laws so they can try this new find. I suggested they try the fish and chips as they were that good. They loved it! The boys finally got their turkey club and they sandwiches were so big they could only eat half. I ordered the Buffalo chicken wrap with onion rings. It was very filling, though I'd prefer the fish and chips when I go back. I also finally got to try their fish chowder, which is more broth than cream - but not Manhattan style (there was milk in it, no tomatoes). It was light and delicious and I preferred it over the thicker clam chowder. We also sampled their ice cream sundaes and strawberry shortcake which were both amazing. All in all this is a place to try. Don't be discouraged with the antique exterior - it's what's inside that matters. Get there early (before 5:30) and make sure to try the fish chowder and fish and chips!

On this evening, it was relatively slow and we only waited about 5 minutes before being seated. They aren't huge portions - enough for 2 people per app. Two of my boys weren't feeling fish so they had a burger and the other a BLT and we were all pleasantly impressed with how they came out. The captains platter can feed three people at least! It is heavy on the shrimp and they come with clam bellies, not strips - so keep that in mind. I got Ray's wrap - nothing too special but it was tasty. They also have onion nuggets - which I have never seen before and were delicious!! All the fried food was fried very well. Not too greasy and nice and crispy. Our waitress was amazing. She was so sweet and really genuine! I love that in a waitress. The place itself is cozy. It's divided into a few sections. Our son had it and said that everything was great. My wife had the Cape Cod Rueben, which is her favorite go to and said it was phenomenal. Our daughter got the chicken fingers and fries and said the fries were her favorite. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and the breast seemed a bit cookie cutter and not really fresh. The apples in my sandwich were more like a jar jam and wasn't very good. The brioche bun was okay but overall the sandwich was a disappointment. I will say the basket of fries was the highlight for my meal. I ordered the key lime pie to go and it wasn't very good. The menu includes a good variety of starters, appetizers, salads, handhelds, and entrees. Two of us ordered the Flat Iron Steak. I realize this is usually a chewier cut of meat, but this was so tough it was inedible. Our server and the manager both could not have been nicer in terms of how they handled this as I returned mine and was quickly brought a different dinner- a French Dip sandwich. It was a meaningful day for us, and from the moment we walked in, we were met with the kind of warmth and genuine care that makes this place so special. Our server McKenzie was nothing short of extraordinary. She greeted us with kindness and compassion, and her attentiveness throughout the meal truly elevated the experience. She understands hospitality on a deep level. One moment in particular left us speechless--when my husband asked for a cappuccino, she regretfully explained that the restaurant doesn't have an espresso machine (which, side note, they should totally invest in one!). But instead of letting that be the end of it, McKenzie took it upon herself to walk over to the hotel lobby and make an espresso for him. When she returned, proud and smiling, it was a small act that meant the world to us. It's this kind of care and heart that the hospitality industry desperately needs more of. As always, the food was fantastic. We had lobster rolls this time and they were generously portioned, super fresh, and fairly priced--honestly some of the best we've had. For dessert, the crème brûlée was smooth, rich, and the perfect sweet ending. Their wine list is decent too and pairs nicely with the lunch menu. Between the amazing lake views, consistently excellent food, and unmatched hospitality, Lakehouse Grille continues to be a true gem. We're already looking forward to returning in the spring--and truly hope we see McKenzie again. She's a star!
