We are not a fan of big corporate restaurants so we always seek out these small mom and pop places. It's off the main street in a trailer park area where most of the customers are snowbirds. We ordered an omelet with potatoes and pancakes, the order didn't take long to get to us. The food was very good and we were happy with the amount and the flavor of the meal. read more

Liked the breakfast so much yesterday we wanted to go back today! *Steak and eggs - Great tender flavor out of an average (thinner) piece of meat. It was really good! Over medium eggs cooked perfectly with hash browns. Rye toast was even good! Lol. *French Toast with scrambled eggs, again cooked perfectly! *Biscuits w/ gravy, 2 eggs and bacon or sausage patty(special today at $7.49) - Great deal. Gravy was delicious and full of flavor. Stopped here on the road home from Phoenix. Towing a 5th wheel so we need easy in and out access. Super friendly staff, speedy service with quality food. I am not a local, so this is based on two stops I had on a vacation from Az to Ca. Heading to ca we stopped in and my kids raved about the burgers. My mom and I both had breakfasts. Food was great, quick, and the service was the No nonsense down to business style you would expect from a business that rocks it out every day. Located right outside of a mobile home park, this is a popular place among the locals. We had to wait 10 or 15 minutes even at around 3:30 in the afternoon. Menu provides your basic American fares. Stopped in here on a road trip. Hubby got corned beef and cabbage (today is St Patrick's Day) and I got chicken fried steak and eggs. Our food was delivered extremely quick especially since they were so busy. Everything was yummy and definitely felt like it came from a family's kitchen. His meal was a special that included corn bread and peach cobbler all for under $20! The highlight of the restaurant is the friendly staff. Even the customers here were happy. 10/10 The food was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot. I went with the grilled cheese , opinion rings, and a small salad. Let me tell you, YUM! My sister had the BLT and she was very thrilled with her choice. Our waitress came over right away, got our drinks and brought them straight back within a couple minutes of sitting down. The atmosphere was relaxing and super cute. Plus the gift shop was an adorable addition to the whole stop. The gift shop is CASH only, but the restaurant takes card. Great Find!! Stopped @ the Mtn Quail Cafe on the way home from Orange County. Was pleasantly surprised to find an awsome cafe off the freeway. Lucky for us the power was back on! Out-of-towner here. We love nothing better than trying out mom and pop restaurants while traveling. Mountain Quail didn't disappoint. Our friendly, efficient server handled all the tables with aplomb. Service was fast, food was fresh and homemade. When our orders were taken our experienced server listened to our orders without writing them down. I asked for no cheese on my omelette and when our dishes came out my husband was served along with our two plates of huge slices of perfectly toasted sourdough. Our server apologized for a short delay on mine, she noticed my first omelette accidentally included cheese and she was having it remade. Not only did she remember our orders the first time around, she checked and remembered before serving. A true pro move. When my huge omelette arrived it was perfect. Fluffy, and filed with veggies. I'd have preferred fresh over canned mushrooms but that's me. The home fries - so delicious. Potatoes were cut by hand and perfectly sautéed. Fresh onions and red and green peppers. And that sourdough toast that I only planned to eat one piece of... I ate every piece, happily. If I'm ever back in Quartzsite I'm coming back here - and getting a piece of that lemon meringue pie that it was just too early in the morning to eat. There are not a lot of choices for dinner as you pass through Quartzite on your way to somewhere else. If you want "ok" diner food, the Mountain Quail Cafe is an option, otherwise you may want to stop to eat in Blythe instead... I got the patty melt - it was ok - how can anyone do wrong with a patty melt? My wife does not recommend the chicken tenders. Nice bathroom. Service was ok. The place really seems like a restaurant that caters to the local RV community. I wouldn't call this "a gem in the dessert" as another reviewer stated... maybe "an ok diner if you need to stop on your trip through the dessert." read more

Look, if you are on your way to Cali or on your way back from Cali and are tired of fast food, this is going to be a good stop for you. The food is not exceptional, but it is good enough. It has plenty of comfort food items on the menu for everyone. I had the biscuits and gravy and hot roast beef sandwich. Very little sausage in the gravy, biscuit was OK. The gravy for the sandwich was made from a packet and it was OK. My wife had a salad and it was OK, nothing memorable. Service was friendly, food came out in timely manner. Older restaurant but clean. They do manage to be in the 21st century and have the capacity to pay by scanning your receipt. That's cool. It really is just a hop and a skip off the highway, not a big deal to get to. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. This is such a fun place, let me tell you about it! We were looking for Denny's but Yelp brought us here and we're SO glad! First things first, the seats. Seats are sturdy and roomy enough to handle bodies like mine that need sturdy and roomy seats. There are booths but I didn't try those. Warning: depending on the size of your party and the number of patrons, you may have to share booths. Let's get to the food: I ordered a Patty Melt because I've not had one in years. It comes with a side so I tried the potato salad. Y'all, this potato salad was soooooo goooodddd. Full of mustard and some type of vinegar. OMG! The Patty Melt was delicious- grilled and greasy but not too greasy. My friend had the Chicken Fried Steak with white gravy and loved it! The diner is filled with old hardware and tins and bottles that should be in museums. I wanted to take pics but I didn't want to interrupt others by leaning over them and their plates so you'll just have to visit to see for yourselves. I think you'll love it.
