It's very inexpensive but unfortunately this was a "you get what you pay for" experience. It was busy during our visit, and there were plenty of options to choose from, including a salad bar. My favorite were the clam chowder and salmon. Besides those two, I was hesitant about a lot of the food. Some items seemed to be moving and replaced more often than others. The crab legs were extremely soft and difficult to crack open, so I didn't bother eating them. My friend also described some items as tasting "airy," almost like they had been sitting uncovered in the refrigerator. I skipped seconds and went for dessert. As I reached for some of the items, multiple gnats flew up. That was enough for me! The ambiance is casual and the buffet area looks decent but cleanliness was a major issue. Before leaving, I used the restroom and every stall I checked was dirty. The price is cheap and the selection is okay but between the food quality and cleanliness, the value just wasn't there for me. I will not be coming back.

I asked for the check and walked it to the counter to pay since I noticed recently the waiters tend to stand right in front of you while you fill out the receipt. She followed me to the front counter and waited next to me as I handed the check to lady at the counter. I thought she was just going to ask her something just to give her the benefit of the doubt. For 2 adults and a 5 year old the bill came out to $60.11. Since we were low maintenance and barely had plates for her to come pick up unlike other full tables I decided no tip today. I paid and was heading out after putting away my card and she approached the counter and then said "excuse me. No tip?" I was shook but replied nicely yes I didn't leave a tip. She said the tip is not included in the total. I replied "I know. I did not leave a tip." She asked "why you don't leave me tip?" I replied a little louder "a tip is optional not mandatory and I chose not to leave a tip" She then said ok and had a look on her face like I left without paying or something. My brother had said he has also ran into issues like this with them hovering whenever you are going to pay and even say things under their breath on the days we do not leave a tip. Mind you this is one day i chose not to leave a tip. I usually leave $5 if service deserves it or if I feel generous. It is not mandatory so having them treat me like I didn't fully pay is ridiculous. I will not be returning to empire buffet as again this has been an ongoing issue. I don't like them hovering over my shoulder as I pay or in this instance following me to the front counter and confronting me in front of their manager (who did nothing). If this has happened to you please leave a review so something can be done because it seems this behavior is allowed in this location.

It was so savory, sweet, and tasty! They marinated the meat so well! Such a surprise for an AYCE place! It was better than most of the Korean restaurants we tried in the Bay Area! Definitely recommend Gogi Time if you would like a good deal on well marinated Korean short ribs (Galbi). The place was not smoky but slightly loud. Unfortunately, the experience did not improve after we placed our order and sat down to eat. The brisket was cold, dry, and lacked flavor. The sides were also served cold, which made the entire meal disappointing. Additionally, we were provided with only one serving of barbecue sauce for the brisket, which was especially frustrating given how dry the meat was. Basic customer service, properly prepared food, and serving meals at an appropriate temperature should be standard expectations. The combination of the unwelcoming service and poor food quality made this a very disappointing dining experience. I wanted to bring this to your attention because this is not the type of experience customers should have when dining at your establishment.
