First time in Redding; first time in over a year to reunite the family since the CoVid pandemic. Out of all the RV parks in the area we looked at, we're glad we went with Mountain Gate. First off, our experience with customer service over the phone was always pleasant. They answered our questions, found us the accommodations we needed (we requested an RV spot and cabin) and made the necessary adjustments. Bridget and Patty were awesome! Next, we loved the location: right off the interstate and easy to find. Chevron and Shell, among others are just outside. It's also located next door to the Forest Ranger Station. From here, plenty sights in Shasta and Redding are an easy drive. Third, this RV park is well-maintained and carefully kept in order. It is definitely small compared to many other RV resorts: their sites are tight, they've no individual firepits, grill or camp rings, and there are no other fancy amentities (which is just right for these times of social-distance protocols.) The shared showers and toilets are cleaned daily and garbage bins are rarely overflowing. Some sites have a patch of grass, while others have gravel. Some have sturdy plastic picnic tables; others have wooden ones. All sites have shade from mature trees; which is also great for some nature sounds by the birds as well. There is a nice pet enclosure for the dogs to play and romp around leash-free. There are only 2 cottages and we're so glad we lucked out on one of them for the Memorial Day Weekend. One of my aunts is semi-disabled so it's hard for her to camp out in the heat. The cottages are a perfect complement for a family like ours. All in all, we were so pleased with our stay over the Memorial Day Weekend. The owners and staff are great--very hospitable and respectful. They enforce certain rules and guidances inside the park but it works for a peaceful, enjoyable stay for every camper. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves back in the area! read more

Lovely place located just off the freeway that has a welcoming feel. Green areas with concrete parking pads. Dump is located at the site so ver convenient. The sites are clearly marked which made navigating very easy. The only drawback is that the sites are close to one another so your neighbors are very close and some freeway noise. We visited off season so no issues for us. I would give 5 stars if the sites were not so close to one another. read more

Our first road trip through California renting an RV and after a night in Yosemite, we found this wonderful gem in Redding, CA. The grounds are clean, there is a great fenced in dog park, laundry, showers, free coffee in the am and the price was affordable! We loved it here! Nancy & Jen were absolutely wonderful! Nancy recommended we go see the waterfalls nearby. Unfortunately, we had a medical emergency and were not able to do it, but if we make our way back up to Shasta Lakes, we will take Nancy's suggestion and do it! Really nice RV Park with level, decent sized sites. The park is clean and well maintained. There is a small store where you can purchase knickknacks and supplies. There is propane for sale on site. Walking trails towards the back of the park are available. The Wi-Fi works really well if that's a necessity for you you'll be pleased. The owners of the park are accommodating and personable. This is a pet friendly, family friendly RV park and we recommend it. read more

We enjoyed our stay here. We tried calling earlier in the day but no one answered so we didn't have reservations but came in after hours and they had envelopes for us to choose from. We got a spot and were there for a bit and then we ended up getting a monthly spot! Loved our time there, close enough to all the stores and fun destinations in town. My dogs liked the dog park and trail. I would go back, it was nice. Definitely not a resort though so keep that in mind. Also enjoyed the clean bathrooms and laundry room. read more

I came here with my husband and two dogs in early June. We were in Redding visiting friends. I chose this park because of the high rating. After experiencing this place, I'm a bit surprised it's a 4.5 star. There is nothing special about this place that would earn an almost perfect score. It's just ok. Bathrooms were clean. There was a pool and a jacuzzi. Almost all sites had a small patch of gravel and a small patch of grass. On the welcome map they tell you not to put mats on the grass, the sprinklers come on every night and not to let your dogs relieve themselves in any area but the designated dog area. This part bothered me because the designated dog area was foxtail city. To get to the dog area was also filled with foxtails and stickers of all types. As far as sprinklers go, it was raining and they didn't turn them off. I don't think they turn the sprinklers on in the dog area. I did feel safe there. Also, they are still requiring masks in the office. Be sure you have one when you check in. read more

This is a nice park with friendly staff. It's clean and close to Shasta Lake. However, be aware that when you ask for and pay for a week, you only get six nights. How many of you read the handout before you pay and get to your site? I don't! So, after six nights, I was contacted by staff and asked if I was extending my stay. I said no and was told it was time to leave, (my words, not theirs). I went to the office and was then told a week was six days, not seven. So, I paid for another night and left the next day. Pretty sad!!! I've been travelling in my RV for over 20 years and have never heard of a six day week! Be aware! read more

This place was beyond relaxing. Super quiet and peaceful . The freeway is next to you but you can barely hear it. We were given space 103 and able to check in early. All our paperwork was there waiting since you have no contact with the office due to Covid. The amenities are closed also but it was fine since we had full hookups. This place is very clean! You will not find trash anywhere. The camp host came around on his cart and checked everything out daily to make sure everything was clean (garbage cans) and orderly . I would recommend this place and will be returning. We really enjoyed our space for the fact we had some grass and it was very level. It was a great base camp to safely leave our trailer and venture out. I wish we could of had one more day, I didn't want to leave. read more

This was our second time camping at this park and it is a great stop over for us when heading to Oregon. The sites are clean and enjoyable. I didn't use the restrooms or the showers, but they were open this time for us. Some sites run along a hill, so not all sites have a nice flat area to sit out on. But love the mountain trees and environment. We stayed in site 26 this time. This will continue to be our destination when heading to Oregon. read more

Good location off the freeway. Staff is very friendly. WE stayed here for 5 days. Pool and spa area very clean, as was the laundry room. Spacious sights, we didn't feel crowded in, in our clean pull through site. They offer a Continental breakfast til 9:30 which is nice. Good centralized location for a Home Base so you can be within short travel time to Caverns, Shasta Dam, Whiskey Town Lake, etc... I would highly recommend Mountain Gate RV Park, even if just for a overnighter...although you may wanna stay longer.... read more

Stayed there May 16th on trip to Oregon and June 11th on return trip to Calif. On May 16th we put out bedroom Side activated by HWH hydraulic ram. Line broke and 1/2 gallon of fluid flowed out on pad and grass. Went to Walmart and bought bag of Kitty Litter and spread over area. Nancy, the manager was very understanding and said "not to worry," the grounds keeper would clean it up in the morning. She did not charge us for clean up. That is what I call good PR. Could not open side,so wife slept on bed and I slept on couch. Now, about the park, Pull-thru's, shade trees and quiet park. Great location for access to Shasta Lake and Dam, and Redding. My husband and I are searching for a spot to park our 5th wheel while we look for a house to buy in Shasta county. We stopped by to fill out an application and see what spots they had available, before we could even fill out an application the lady in the office noticed we had our 5 month old daughter with us. Told us that it is a 2 person maximum . I said our daughter is 5 MONTHS, an infant. She responded extremely rude with "well she's not going to stay that way!" We are looking to stay for a month. She will not grow into a teenager in our short stay. Happy to not give them money after the short experience we had. I found it interesting that we can stay week to week with our infant, but not a month stay. Would love to hear what the owner thinks about the way our family was treated today. read more

Arrived at 3:10 pm fora four day stay, the office was closed for the day. Got our keys and found our cabin. Soon after getting in we noticed what appeared to be the smoke alarm beeping. Went to office, the emergency number listed was the office number, left a message.when no one responded, we managed to get smoke alarm down and destroyed it, it kept beeping all night. The next morning she finally called me and sent the maintenance man to fix it. When I went to the office to say how unhappy we were, all igot was I'm really sorry. I was expecting a discount for the night. Don't bother paying extra for linens, it's not worth it, if you are stay for several days. We will not be going back. read more

My family and i look this place up it looked decent. So we stopped by. The old woman working in the office was extremely rude and condescending . So much so we decided not to stay here and went down the road to the KOA. S o glad we did. The Koa is a little more $ but a much better choice. read more

Stayed one night on way back home. GREAT staff, clean restrooms, nice sites. My complaint would be for two issues. 1. The internet was slow and they only allow two devices to be connected, and you have to use only those two. 2. The morning breakfast is "American" continental; ie, Little Debbie's-type packaged pastries. Also, the coffee was extremely weak so as to see the bottom of my travel mug. I have two fixes. 1. Upgrade your internet bandwidth so it's not so restrictive. 2. Do away with the pastries, etc and have good, rich coffee available in addition to the weak stuff. RV parks are cash cows (just as marinas, which I have long managed) and they can easily afford these fixes. They would have earned 5 stars from me. Am I being picky? I don't think so. We stayed here years ago and it's still the same. Beautiful clean park, paved roads and sites, spotless restrooms, reasonable price. If it's not paved it's grass and trees. When we arrived after hours someone was still waiting for us even though the office was closed. He led us to the site in a cart. Five or six deer had to be shooed away from our site so we could park. We stopped here on the way south to Sacramento and again on our way north to Washington State. The staff was terrific- pleasant and helpful. The sites are nicely spaced, and the ones that we stayed at were quite level. There is a bit of traffic noise from I-5, but not so much as to be a nuisance. And the campground itself is very quiet. This is one of the nicest privately owned campgrounds we have encountered out of the many that we found on our way to the east coast and back. Great RV Park, clean, quite, sites are large and on concrete pads. Trees, green grass , pool, spa, laundry room, showers, store, recreation room and a wonderful staff. The RV Park is close to Shasta Lake and just about 5 minutes into Redding. We have used another park in the past as we have had to be here for medical reasons and this time they couldn't accommodate us, that's how we found this great place!!! Well, I am not surprised to see all the negative reviews talking about the awful lady in the office. I came to the RV park around 8:00 pm yesterday, after the office closed, so I payed by credit card # on an envelope that I dropped in their mailbox, as they request. Around 8:15 pm, a big truck pulls up next to my camp and the guy driving tells me "my buddies and I saw you pull in, you're cute and we wanna hang!" which obviously made me uncomfortable, being a solo female traveler. So I left. I saw their office opened at 9 am, so I called this morning at 9:05 am to let them know I ended up not staying and explained why so they wouldn't charge me $50. The lady cut me off by saying "that didn't happen because stuff like that doesn't happen in our park! We charged you and that's that." I'm sorry, WHAT?! You're accusing me of lying, first of all?? Absolutely awful, and I would recommend staying elsewhere with that kind of management. read more

We loved this place despite no store on site because the grounds are well established with trees/shade. It is now run down, no working laundry, no hot showers, weeds, grass overgrown. Sign on bathroom showers near us not in working order, no working pool, spa. RV space rent for a month raised since Our stay 1 year ago. Its out rurally so you must drive for any supermarket/laundry etc.,The manager leaves at 3:30-4pm on most days, and no security, thefts have been reported of propane tanks by other tenants, very rural area needs a live in security/manager like it was for years. Reported to mgmt. of no amenities for a AAA/Good Sam park, We were twice yearly staying a month, very disappointed, told gas lines need repair and they are working on it. Long time residents claim they have been saying that for close to a year. Also claim RVs must be self contained! Thats fine, but repairs and wear and tear happen. We travel full time and do not want to drive 15 min to a shady area to set in a laundry, homeless lurking, while paying for our space., It takes gas, time, and is a major inconvenience! Be UP FRONT with customers PROR to reserving the RV spot with the out of order items. Do not act like it just broke, and work is in progress, when its been out for months and months!
