I was raised, and lived in Lakehead for most of my life. So this really isn't something I wanted to…read moredo. Ordered a BLT for dinner with the family. First bite I tasted vinegar, wondered if it was the chipotle mayo sauce. After two or three bites my stomach started churning. I had my brother try some on his finger, and his stomach flipped too. I brought it up to a server, who compt the plate (thank you) and told them to check their sauces, people can get sick fast. A few minutes later the cook came up to my table, didn't introduce himself, and jumped into telling me I was wrong, I wasn't sick, the sauce is fine. I responded by letting him know that my stomach is in ruins, the sauce tastes like vinegar, and I don't want others getting sick. That was just too hard for him to believe, so he left. And returned to my table in 30 seconds with his phone, to show me the AI Google Overview saying food poisoning doesn't happen that fast. I said It didn't matter what the AI said, I feel like trash now. He refused to believe me, continued to tell me I wasnt feeling sick, pointed to google again. So I lost my patience. I said "I don't give a sh*t what you *think* is happening, my stomach is in knots. There's nothing else to say, we're done here" He proceeded to tell me I was not welcome, that I was not welcome back, and it was because of my bad attitude and aggression. Needless to say, I'm gutted. This is my home town. I grew up in Lakeshore's pool and cabins and old arcade. Even after being away, I hold so many beautiful memories of being there, eating their food, singing karaoke, making passing friends in the cabins. I'm blown away at how quickly the cook was willing to alienate an entire table of locals, over his bruised ego. I do suspect some alcohol was involved in his behavior, as we noticed most of the staff grabbing drinks behind the bar during service. But I digress, it was fun until it wasn't, and then it got worse. Breaks my heart, but I no longer recommend this place to anyone. The server gals were kind and did their best with what they were given. But God forbid anyone have to feel like I do today.

Perfect for kids as stream is wide but very shallow. RV's in outside of circle with a beautiful common grassy area in center. Ideal for groups. Large common eating. Lots of bike riding and perfect for kids. Reasonably priced. Cons: Limited parking and very tight spaces. Charge $2/day for dog. Provide dog poop bags but nowhere to dispose. You'd think there would be some kind of disposal where the bags are but no...There is a sign that says to dispose at trash near laundry room. I walked almost the entire park and couldn't find the laundry room. And not a single trash can!!! They expect their rver's to haul their garbage across the park and then fling in into those huge dumpsters that many of us can't reach or are to old to get the needed height. And it's gross and smelly. Many parks pick up garbage daily or have reasonably sized cans spaced around the park. McCloud is noted for its wandering bears but there has to be a better solution... The next day I set out for the trash by the laundry room. I found the laundry room with a sign "Call this number and the office will text the key code. Someone is borrowing too much toilet paper." Really??? A resort this size can't afford toilet paper so the entire clientele have to suffer this inconvenience??? This wasn't for us. Could hardly get thru with one lane. Our neighbors were way too close. Tables were situated behind the rv as no room beside. Everyone had dogs but no fenced area for off lease. The dog park was a dusty trail along the fence next to the highway. Dogs were aloud on the grassy areas and everyone was good about picking up.

Beautiful space, grouchy raunchy camp hosts/owners…read more When we first pulled in we thought we had found our annual getaway location. We paid for three nights, but fully expected to extend our stay for two or three more. But shortly after we set up Bob the camp host showed up and sort of hijacked us on a tour of the house he's building and the park waterways, the development history, and more. On the surface we thought that was very nice of him, and was very informative. But the reality was that he dragged my wife and I around on a 40-year-old golf cart while he told raunchy jokes about such things as Monica Lewinsky in great detail, shared his opinions on world affairs, bragged about his influence in the McCloud area, and more, all with a spin towards the lewd and raunchy. We tried to accommodate him because he is an elderly fellow and we had never met him, but I have to admit it times it felt like we were in the opening scenes of a trashy slasher movie, and I was looking at every shadow and open doorway for a possible sighting of someone with a hockey mask. We couldn't wait for him to drop us back off at our campsite Also, every park has upsells, which is fine. But this park advertises itself as a fly fishing Ranch but charges $65 per hour for catch and release fishing. There are at least a dozen spots within 5 miles where you can fish for free. The McCloud river is a world-class Blue ribbon trout fishing stream -free fishing with a license, all day every day The 30-amp plug didn't work, we used the 15 amp standby plug during our stay. We have a small Casita which doesn't draw much power, so it was okay. During our visit we watched Bob and his wife Maylon be more than a little overzealous with other guests about camp rules. While we were in the cart with him, he didn't think twice about stopping to chastise to adult campers who were on e-bikes on evidently the wrong trails in the park. His reasoning was that he didn't let kids bike in that area of the park because he was worried one of the children might drive a bike into one of the ponds, so he couldn't let these adults driving very sophisticated two or $3,000 e-bikes bike back there either. It was awkward for us to be in the car with him while he was addressing these other guests. The next day, we got our turn being on the wrong end of Bob and Maylons grouchiness. They pulled into our campsite and abruptly told us we had to turn our music off. We were playing Willie Nelson quite low, but they heard it from the next campsite over. No camper complained. This was at 5:00 p.m. . The park rules site quiet hours from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. this was on a Monday, after we had listened to loud construction noises from a bathroom remodel two campsites over all day Saturday and Sunday until well after dark, which we did not complain about or even get bothered by until our battery powered speaker was just more than they could stand to listen to. We had conversations with other campers, wonderful folks who we met during our stay, who observed the things things we did and felt the same way. It was a common observation that it was a beautiful spot, but The grouchy and raunchy demeanor of the camp host took a lot of the joy away of the stay. One family with whom we had especially nice conversations, decided to end their trip three days early, after having driven all the way from Las Vegas, some 12-hour drive. As we exited the park I found the owner and told him how unsettling his demeanor had been and try to explain that his method of dealing with errant e-bike riders and our little speaker playing music left a lot to be desired. I told him I was especially upset by the raunchy, graphic, jokes he told in front of my wife, and he denied having told them. I feel sorry for the staff member who happened to be in the office when we were having this conversation, but I told Bob that he was a liar and reminded him we were on the deck of his new house and the exact nature of the joke that he told. He simply spun on his heel and went back into his residence. In short, if you come here expect a beautiful space but some raunchy and grouchy camp hosts/owners. If you talk to Bob, it's probably best to keep your wife and children away, and if you talk to Maylon, don't expect much in the way of smiles or gracious camp host demeanor that you might expect in such a place. Our kids were bummed when I told them it was just us. I felt guilty seeing their pouting faces, so our reservation for two became one for four. Burney falls was so mesmerizing, I'm glad we brought our kids. I love waterfalls and being outside in the warm Summer months hiking or camping. We lucked out and were there right before the area was shut down for the fires nearby. We were pleasantly surprised that there were cabins and hookups for RVs right there in the park. We totally could have brought our RV instead of staying in town. It's a small town and if you have never visited a small town with any stop lights, you wouldn't understand where I'm going with this analogy. Lol! Iykyk! We had a great time and do look forward to making our way back to do some more hiking and camping. This park is a must see and a family friendly hike to get to the falls! Fun fact: Burney Falls is never dry, 100 million gallons flow daily, so no matter what time of year you visit there will be flow.

Unfortunately this week was in the middle of a 100+ degree heatwave so hanging out wasn't in the cards. We were inside with the AC on or on the Lake. Alan stopped by several times to make sure everything was perfect for us and our dogs. We felt so welcomed. He hauled our trash, provided firewood, and gave us directions to a cool beach spot on Lake Briton. Regardless of the heat, the amenities were exactly what we were looking for! Full hookups, clean, peace & quiet, friendly neighbors, etc. Our shady spot was perfect for our dogs that we had fenced in around our trailer. If Burney Falls is on your bucket list, this is the place to bring your RV!

Fire pits were good too. The tent sites were SPACIOUS too I mean for my party of 6, we had 3 large tents with space & 2 trucks parked out of the way. Our site even had 2 benches. The shade provided by the trees was great, because as hot as it was, when we were present at our site we enjoyed relaxing underneath the shade. Front office staff were all very nice Saydra, Ricky & Whitney. All friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. There's also a campground store & grill. Grill food was fresh & bomb. Store part was great they carried a variety of things; ice, sunblock, water toys, camp lights, wagon, & so much more. They even have cute souvenir clothing, shirts, tanks, long sleeves, sweaters, hoodies, sun hats, sunglasses. The deck has great benches with umbrellas for shade with a great view of the lake. There's corn hole just have to ask for the bean bags. Mondays there's bingo. There's a pool 5ft. deep you have to leave a $20 deposit for the key at the front desk. Wood is cheaper here than at the Chevron. Campgrounds FAVE was the frosty (ice cream) Every morning when I went to use the bathroom, I witnessed staff cleaning the restrooms. So HUGE thank you to them for that. They even empty the trash bins throughout the day, through out the day you can catch someone on the golf cart roaming the campgrounds to make sure everything & everyone is good. There was always hot water, & cold water when needed. In the middle of the campgrounds there's a FUN playground with swings for the kids. There's even a basketball court & volleyball court too. This campgrounds is located in a great area too. Walking distance to the Antlers Marina(dock), short drive to a bunch of great swimming spots. A bit pricier than a few spots that we've stayed at but this campgrounds is WORTH IT! Definitely going to return, alsooooo upon checking out when I was at the office to double check if I needed to do anything else there was a long line in front of me of campers planning on returning too, booking their dates for 2024!!

Paul was very patient with this newbie while I was backing my trailer onto the pad. The sites are very clean, and the grounds are well kept. Security within the park itself is very good. It's not too far from where I work. I do feel a bit guilty that I work on weekends and leave rather early in the morning.
