Back in March we booked a three-day stay at Lakeshore Resort in Lakehead from June 11-14 to celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. We frequent Shasta Lake and the Lakehead area, so we're familiar with the region and understand that many businesses are heavily dependent on the seasonal tourism industry. We chose Lakeshore Resort because of the amenities advertised on their website, including the pool, bar, restaurant, store, upgraded cabins, proximity to the lake and boat launch, and the option to rent an RV space next to our cabin to keep our boat. This setup was highly recommended and seemed perfect for our anniversary getaway. When we arrived on Thursday, the managers had everything ready for us and were very pleasant and welcoming. Before I continue, I want to say that my husband and I are not overly picky travelers. We don't expect luxury accommodations. However, when we entered Cabin #10, it was nothing like the photos shown online. We had paid for one of the upgraded cabins and were shocked by its condition. The cabin was extremely dated and in significant disrepair. The ceiling was falling down and had a hole in it that appeared to be plugged with toilet paper. The floors were uneven throughout, with multiple flooring types connected by jagged transitions and no transition strips. The ceiling fan wobbled so severely that it looked as though it might fall. The pantry and stove shown in the online photos were not present. The walls and ceilings had patches of mismatched white paint throughout. The shower did not drain properly because the floor sloped away from the drain, and the water temperature fluctuated between scalding hot and ice cold. Most of the electrical outlets were unusable because they had been painted over. The bed sagged in the middle, and the breakfast bar felt unstable, as though it could collapse if leaned on. At that point, all we could do was laugh and decide to go to the restaurant while we figured out what we wanted to do. On the way there, we noticed signs posted on the pool fence stating that the pool was closed for repairs. Once inside the restaurant, the hostess immediately informed us that the grill was down and only cold food items were available. We were happy to see our favorite bartender, Royce from Basshole, behind the bar, which ended up being the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed some cocktails and cold food, which was actually excellent. After dinner, we spoke with the manager and explained our concerns regarding the closed pool, the restaurant limitations, and the condition of the cabin. She was very apologetic and accommodating. She mentioned that she had not been aware the grill was down. We understand that these issues were largely beyond the control of the on-site management and appeared to be the result of decisions made by the new ownership. She immediately refunded the RV space we had rented for our boat. We decided to give the resort another chance and stay one night. We were told the grill would likely be operational the following day and that the pool might be repaired. With temperatures forecast to reach 102 degrees, both amenities were important factors in our decision to stay. Unfortunately, we got very little sleep. The ceiling fan wobbled and rattled throughout the night, and the wall-mounted air conditioner was extremely loud and had a musty odor. The cabin wasn't necessarily dirty--it was simply very old, stale, and poorly maintained. The overall condition made us uncomfortable. The next morning, we packed our belongings, returned to the office, checked out early, and requested a refund. Once again, the management team was professional, understanding, and accommodating, and they refunded our stay without issue. I want to emphasize that the managers handled the situation as well as they possibly could. Our disappointment lies with the condition of the property and the apparent lack of investment by the new ownership. We work hard for our money and simply could not justify spending approximately $200 per night for accommodations in that condition, especially for a special occasion like our 24th wedding anniversary. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend staying at Lakeshore Resort in its current state. Until significant improvements are made to the cabins and advertised amenities are restored and operational, prospective guests should carefully consider whether the resort offers the value they expect for the price. Just to be clear, we were not refunded for our entire stay. We were charged for one night in a run-down, dilapidated cabin that looked nothing like what was depicted on the website. Your statement that we were "fully refunded" is simply not accurate. Additionally, we were never given a discounted rate, despite your claim that we received one. I was raised, and lived in Lakehead for most of my life. So this really isn't something I wanted to do. Ordered a BLT for dinner with the family. First bite I tasted vinegar, wondered if it was the chipotle mayo sauce. After two or three bites my stomach started churning. I had my brother try some on his finger, and his stomach flipped too. I brought it up to a server, who compt the plate (thank you) and told them to check their sauces, people can get sick fast. A few minutes later the cook came up to my table, didn't introduce himself, and jumped into telling me I was wrong, I wasn't sick, the sauce is fine. I responded by letting him know that my stomach is in ruins, the sauce tastes like vinegar, and I don't want others getting sick. That was just too hard for him to believe, so he left. And returned to my table in 30 seconds with his phone, to show me the AI Google Overview saying food poisoning doesn't happen that fast. I said It didn't matter what the AI said, I feel like trash now. He refused to believe me, continued to tell me I wasnt feeling sick, pointed to google again. So I lost my patience. I said "I don't give a sh*t what you *think* is happening, my stomach is in knots. There's nothing else to say, we're done here" He proceeded to tell me I was not welcome, that I was not welcome back, and it was because of my bad attitude and aggression. Needless to say, I'm gutted. This is my home town. I grew up in Lakeshore's pool and cabins and old arcade. Even after being away, I hold so many beautiful memories of being there, eating their food, singing karaoke, making passing friends in the cabins. I'm blown away at how quickly the cook was willing to alienate an entire table of locals, over his bruised ego. I do suspect some alcohol was involved in his behavior, as we noticed most of the staff grabbing drinks behind the bar during service. But I digress, it was fun until it wasn't, and then it got worse. Breaks my heart, but I no longer recommend this place to anyone. The server gals were kind and did their best with what they were given. But God forbid anyone have to feel like I do today. read more

This is so sad for me to do. I really didn't want to believe all my friends who told me the new owners are complete dirt bags and that everyone in Lakehead should not go here any more, but I just met them both. My friends band played here so I really wanted to give it a chance, but was treated in a way I have never been treated in my life. My first warning should have been that everyone was afraid to dance. This will be my first warning for a resort in my life. AVOID. There comes a point where you have to listen to the overwhelming majority who have had horrible experiences here even when you have a lot of good previous memories. read more

Almost immediately after writing my review, the bathrooms had a shake down with new bulbs and the trash was gone! They either saw my review or got to the routine, or both! That response says so much! amazing experience it didn't start off there but ended amazing. Property under new ownership and when we book the last owner took my money and didn't make my reservation and we book 4 months ago. The new owner made a way that they could still accommodate us. we had to do some moving around each day but we had drove so far and family drove 13 we didn't want to just get a refund. The new owners took care of us and now have a long last customer because of it. thank you for all the accommodations and hospitality your treated us so well and you didn't have to. We had a wonderful lunch and one of the new owners was our server extraordinaire. Lacey-May was attentive and helpful, she shared stories about the place when we inquired. The food was exceptional. The Jalapeños poppers were built by hand onsite and really delicious. There were 4of us and we got two delicious burgers an awesome salad and my mother got the grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was great. And we ordered the strawberry lemonade, that was made by hand to order and super delicious on a warm early fall afternoon. If I could give negative stars I would. Our 4th of July was ruined by a camp ground and a campsite that was less than desirable. The electrical was atrocious and was so disappointed with the staff. We had been looking forward for the weekend since booked early in the year. Several phone conversations with the staff and never once was it mentioned that our site or any of our other groups sites may have questionable electrical. Not sure if our water even worked and the site was a sink hole. We ended up leaving that day and won't be back. We our out thousands of dollars between our camp group when you account for food, gas, and the site fees which they refuse to call us back to discuss. This whole place was a scam. Buyer beware. We have been camping lakeside for the last two summers and excited to be entering our third year at this wonderful resort. The owners Ian & Heather are some of the most down to earth people we have met, you can truly tell that they want this resort to thrive and be a place families & friends can go to let the stress of the world go and just relax whether that be for a night or even a long weekend! You can always find them tirelessly working to make sure each weekend or event is the best one yet. The staff they hire each summer is always top notch, friendly & welcoming! Although we get enjoyment cooking our own food at our trailers we have had the food they provide and you can tell the cook / chef in the back always puts love & effort into whatever they are cooking for the guests (The ice cream is top notch & a kid favorite!) Heather and her team always make sure that they have the best entertainment whether that be music, vendors or fun activities for kids of all ages! Heather & Ian want to see Lakehead thrive, especially Lakeshore a resort they stumbled a-crossed that they could see so much potential for, the first owners in years to bring joy back to a resort that has been so memorable in years passed for hundreds of families. Oh, I forgot to mention when they do have live bands you can hardly keep people off the dance floor! Within 10 minutes of being there, unfortunately one of the staff members stereotyped my husband. My husband simply asked some questions in regards to lake access. After that, the worker told my husband that Karaoke was happening later that night. His comment was rude and out of line that followed. He told my husband it looked like he could sing some Miley Cyrus. I'm assuming he said that because my husband is good looking and clean cut. The staff is definitely the opposite. One even had an ankle bracelet. Also, I honestly thought that spending over $100 for a site that this place would be more descent than not. The site was so small that our neighbors couldn't fully extend their awning. We were able to only cause the site next to us was empty. We did experience a great waitress though. She was very nice and the food was pretty good. The lobby was a bit messy too. Definitely not a professionally ran place. read more

Our lodge keeper recommended Lakeshore Inn even though there is a bar and grill right across the street from the motel. It was a nice afternoon, so we walked down the road and checked it out. It's a pleasant venue right on a small cove of Lake Shasta. We were the first ones to arrive, and Rene was ready to serve us our cocktails. Lorraine brought us the menu and we decided on the elk burger and fries, which was delicious! Some locals came in and we all got to talking to each other. We enjoyed the hospitality and the food and drinks as well as the venue. Who knew a tiny town like Lakehead would have such a charming restaurant! read more

We just returned from a 5 day vacation with our kids meeting us from California. We picked this camp ground because it's 3 1/2 hrs from our kids home and 3 hrs from our home in Oregon, plus it's a straight drive down I-5. We made our reservations pretty late but they were able to get us 2 RV sites together. The RV sites are very close to each other and we both have Class A motorhomes so it was a little difficult to get into them with very little space for parking our tow cars but it worked and we had a blast! You have no access to the lake from this park but either way down the street you can get in easily. They have a great bar and restaurant and pool. It's well kept and there was a band playing the night we pulled in which was a Saturday. This will be our go-too spot for our vacations together for sure! read more

The new owner is from out of town and is out of touch with the lake life lifestyle and small town living. It's closed down most of the time...now with gates and locks to keep everyone out. Like someone else said, don't be fooled by the pictures. This place is very run down, they say they have grass sites but all we saw were patchy spots at best. We paid for three nights in a premium lake view site and we had a big propane tank that was useless in our site that was taking away from our view. We also weren't able to eat outside because of the bugs. We ended up leaving after the second night. I will not go back to this place and I wouldn't recommend it either. read more

Stumbled here accidentally having booked the Rv park down the street. We ended up pulling in around 2 am and they were very courteous and understanding about blocking the street accidentally. The views here are amazing and that is why we ended up here again not even a month later. Yes, the place is for sale but regardless, we have gotten decent service here. Half a mile down the street you have access to the lake and honestly it was AMAZING and very private! Give this place a shot, you might be surprised like we were. This place is for sale and hopefully it sells soon and the new owner upgrades the facilities. Though the owner was not rude to me I did witness it. I think he is done and can't wait for it to sell. Our 50 amp receptacle was broken but they did fix it within 24 hours. The bathrooms were not only filthy but in need of some renovation. It was a holiday weekend so it was crowded with vehicles and boat trailers everywhere. There is no lot for your toys. I think the only thing keeping this place going is the bar. Karaoke and live band night was pretty crowded. That goes on til midnight so quiet hours are not enforced. This is not a place to go if your looking for peace and quiet. My family and I spent four days at Lakeshore Inn and RV and we had a really good time. The resort has karaoke on Friday nights and a band on Saturday. Lake Shasta is beautiful and this resort makes it easy to access the lake. We ate dinner there on Sunday and the food was good. They also have a nice pool and the bar there is beautiful. Do not stay here the place is for sale and is not what they said it was on the phone!!! They said we could walk to the water it's only about a half mile away!!! Ya sure you can!! It's more like 2 miles down a dangerous road!!! And it's a boat launch not the beach we wanted to hang out at. The owner is a nice enough guy but when we wanted to cancel some nights the women who work in the office got salty and rude with my wife and said no even though they misrepresented the place over the phone! Don't be fooled by the pictures of this rv resort. We booked 3 sites and when we got there at 7:30pm, one of our sites were taken by someone else. When we got in, a nice guy told us what directions to go form our site. We were trying to get situated and a drunk car was flying down and almost hit us. Then the trashes were filled to the top and had spilled everywhere. Then a bum or homeless was drinking on the site walking by our site. He looked really strange. This all took place in 20 minutes. We ended up leaving to another site. Then the next day, I got a call by the receptionist that was really nice. I told her site 3 was taken by another trailer. She noticed it and said that person was supposed to be on site 2. Anyhow, they did t have our site ready. Then I told her I want a refund because our site wasn't ready and I had left a message on their phone and no one had called me. The receptionist said hold on, speak to Eddie. I spoke to Eddie, he happens to be the owner. He was the guy that told me where to go when we first arrived. He never told me he was the owner and could have helped me out. He saw that site 3 was ta ken when it was our site and he didn't say anything. So I asked him we deserve a refund due to all of these issues and he said come to the office so we can talk about it. I said, what? Why do I need to come in? He ended up hanging up on me ignoring my refund. That would've been nice to know when we checked in. All gravel lot gets a dust cloud blowing every time a car drives through. No water access also.The small pool gets full in a hurry. read more

We stayed in the cabins for a few weeks while my husband had work in the area. It's an older place so it has all of the quirks and bumps that go along with it. But anytime I had an issue the ladies in the office went over and above to have the issue resolved right away. You aren't going to stay in a 5 star hotel here but it has the basic essentials and you can't beat the view. Over all our experience here was very pleasant. read more

We stay at Lakeshore Inn & RV every summer. The owners and the staff always make us feel welcome and do everything they can to accommodate all the needs of us and our group. The pool is always clean with restaurant and bar service poolside. The live entertainment is always a big hit with the families that come there, every Friday & Saturday nights outside. The prices are super reasonable with room for our RV & boat. Hot showers are nice and always clean for those without an RV. This park has a boat launch within one minute in either direction taking you right by a mini market regardless the direction you choose. WE CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK!!! read more

My boyfriend and I stopped at this campsite on our road trip to Montana. The front desk ladies were nice river rats type. Our reservation was for a tent space and we were given a RV space, we totally lucked out with a fantastic view of the water and mountains. The site also has small cabins for overnight stays. After we scoped out the area we noted the other tent spaces were kinda jenky, cramped and inland (no great view of anything). The bathroom/shower space was small and very dirty when I checked it out, I would give this part 2 stars, since I was camping for a night I had no real need to shower, thank goodness. The Inn has a outdoor swimming pool, restaurant and a bar with entertainment such as karaoke, darts and arcade games. I really enjoyed the food and the service at the bar. If I need to spend a night at this campsite again I definitely would, but I would definitely not for a week. I attached a photo of our view from our RV space. read more
