We were here to dump my dad's trailer. We paid for dump services. The lady who owns the park was completely rude to us when we were in the middle of dumping because we had a power cord plugged in to put the jacks down. They also said we took too long, but we didn't know there was a time limit while dumping. While we were cleaning up, her brother drove over and said these exact words, "get the f-- in your truck and get the f-- out of here. I'm not nice like my sister." We would not recommend coming here, as the managers are not friendly at all. read more

So this may be my favorite park. IF you get a spot next to the river. Its the best view of any park i have ever been to. Its right off I-5 but you can hardly hear the freeway. Big spots with hedges in between. Be advised if you have a hunting dog they will have to choose between geese and squirrels. It is very clean and awesome for big rigs. read more

Decided to reserve some time for laziness after a road trip to Crater Lake National Park. After boondocking a few days, having full hookups seem so luxurious. Check in was quick and simple. We were assigned site 26 and it was just a few feet to the Sacramento River. Residents shared that Salmon runs through here, but we all know it's timing. I did see a bass swim by me but he was plagued with battle scars. I've allowed him to live another day. LOL. I recommend staying here whether you just want to spend a night or even make it a fishing trip. Just be sure check the Salmon season calendar. read more

The park has potential to be a really awesome park, it is on the river and if you are lucy enough to get a river site you will have a beautiful view. What I don't like as others have mentioned is that they quote you one price on the phone and charge more when you arrive. The reason they gave us was because there were people evacuated because of the park fire... really you charge extra for those less fortunate that may loose their homes. This someday may be a wonderful park if the owners sell, and some kind folks take over. Worst as far as rv parks go as far as basically stealing from people. read more

This is our second time at this park. We were in a 31 ft. 5th wheel and truck in River view site 25 for one night. We came with another couple (reservations made together) and not sure why we couldn't have been by each other since the sites on either side of us never taken, but they put us away from each other. It would be nice to have some shade in the sites, specially when it is over 100 degrees. We stayed last year and it was more enjoyable than this stay. The park is clean and the restrooms and showers are clean and nice. We sat down by the River and enjoyed watching it and the people going up or down it in boats and canoes. Overall this is a nice park, not sure if we stay here again or up the road. The check in was okay, I guess I was used to the other places we stayed and their friendliness. read more

Beware, they will quote you one price over the phone and then raise the price when you check in. I even saw the price they quoted us written on our check in slip but was told the person that took our reservation, wrote down and quoted us the wrong price. As a business owner, I would have honored the incorrect price instead of arguing about it. I will say our rv spot was clean and our spot along the river did have a nice view. But I wouldn't come back based on their shady quotes. read more

Have had a good repor with the owner and until now with their customer front office employees. Had a misunderstanding regarding a date this last April. The person was very curt and rude about the mistake. Acused my wife of calling her a liar three times. This is not our means of communication with others. Tried to sooth over the issue politely but unable to resolve the bad attitude. We have had good stays there for over two years but this will end here. The owner called and we tried to explain our issue but the owner was also abruptly interrupted the conversation saying we should no longer come and stay anymore because her staff is not changing. Stopped in for a one-night stay due to good reviews and proximity to the Sacramento River. Pleasant experience on the phone making the reservation. Stayed in space 24. Water supply valve was broken and needed to fill our tank and not stay connected. Cable connection was broken, overgrown hedge with sewer connection out of reach requiring us to reposition into the hedge to dump our tanks in the morning. Oil spill on concrete slab. Overall, needs some TLC. We liked the River but won't be back. Called the next morning and spoke to a gentleman who was nice but no feedback that would make me want to try them again in the future. read more

Beautiful park like setting right on the River. We were getting tired and needed an overnight camp spot. Found JGW online from campgrounds near me. I called and spoke with someone, very nice, and he got me in a spot!! On the River!! Paid for it over the phone as a late check in. Arrived and couldn't believe the site #20 . Large grassy area. What isn't there to like? They have large sites with bushes and plants between them for privacy, concrete pads, lots of green grass open space and it lies along side the Sacramento River. We enjoyed watching the rafters go down the river and the muskrats or otters playing along the shore. We were in site 27 and had a great view of the river and we will definitely return. read more

We read the reviews and took them into consideration. Our visit to this location was on July 1st-6th 2014. Prior to coming - I called and booked our reservation with Mickie. She was more than pleasant and very accommodation to our needs. She suggested a great space for us near the water -R1. Good location at affordable price. Full hook up, clean grounds & nice RV sites, fishing, boating, rafting, and a pool on site that is clean and well maintained. Also have a laundry facility and showers. Office staff is friendly and helpful. We had a great time and will be back again! Highly recommend you stop in to check it out. Wish you a happy visit and a comfortable , relaxing time during your stay! We arrived there on an extremely hot day yesterday. So nice in the office, they gave us several choices of spots, based on the shade. They were closing and when I called, they let me run over and get some ice. We had to skip out planned destination due to a fire in the area and this was on the way home. OMG I am so in love with this place. Was dry camping for a while and this park was heaven. One of the nicest parks I've ever seen, lots of space and right on the Sacramento River. Although the RV park is nicely landscaped and a few of the sites have a view of the Sacramento River, the office staff person needs to be more friendly and civil to her guests. We were evacuated due to the Fawn Fire and only 1 space was available for one night, only. We knew fully well that our rental expired at 11:00 a.m. and we were well on our way to packing up and leaving at 10:45 - yet the hostess had to call us and make sure we were leaving very soon; I felt like we were getting "the bum's rush" to vacate, NOW!! I've wanted to stay here since it was built. With my wife's parents living in Redding, another very nice park was just more convenient. This trip we were headed north, stopping only overnight to visit their final resting place at the nearby Northern California Veterans' Cemetery. This park is nicer than I hoped it might be. It does have some unusual pull through setups that look to have side by side hookups. They do appear to have been thoughtfully landscaped. We were fortunate enough to have one 'down by the river'. And it was a bargain at the slight premium price it commanded. This park, at least at these sites, can stand it's own against the 2 very nice resorts to the north in Redding & to the south in Red Bluff. read more

Don't be fooled by the veneer of an upscale resort - the only thing "upscale" about this place is the price tag. It's $55 - well within the luxury range, but it has none of the amenities of a real resort. In fact, the facilities are pretty trashy. And not in a blue-collar, fun-loving kind of way. In a stuck-up, gross, let's pretend-we're-wealthy kind of way. This place has a strange, stuffy, cultish vibe; hard to put a finger on, but something isn't quite right. We stayed on a Saturday on labor-day weekend, because every other place in the area was sold out. Somehow, this place had many, many open spots. Now I understand why. The tl;dr of the bad stuff is the hookups - they were absolutely atrocious and disgusting. More on that in a bit. First, the bad but not totally terrible parts: * The wifi was nearly non-existent. We were only 5 rows from the office and it didn't reach us. Another guest at the park told us it almost never works propeIty. * The showers have coded locks on the doors, which I already find kind of scummy. But on top of that, the staff forgot to write the code on the intake materials. It was around 10PM when I decided to shower, so I had to find another guest and ask for the code. * The dogs. Oh my goodness the dogs. I like dogs; I'm not an anti-dog person. But this place has some loud dogs and they were barking at each other all night. Also, there was dog poop all over the lawns! What the heck is that?! * Some seemingly mentally unstable guests. I went for a bedtime stroll around the park with my partner and our 2-year old, and half-way around, some guy suddenly peeked out of his rig and shined a bright torch light in our face. I put my hand out and yelled, "Hey!" but he kept doing it for like 5-8 seconds before disappearing back into his rig. It was absolutely bizarre. In the intake materials, they have a clause that says something like, "confrontations with other guests may result in ejection." I suspect that the management is too passive-aggressive to do anything about some of the nutjobs in the park. All the longer-term guests we met seemed miserable. I can totally imagine drunken fisticuffs breaking out at this place. * The road noise was intense all night long. Lots of loud trucks and police sirens. I don't know if it's a bad neighborhood or what, but there were probably a dozen police cars with *loud* sirens blaring by the park the night we stayed. * The materials said something about having a basic standard for RV quality, which made me think this might be a cool place to do some rig-spotting. But again, that seemed to just be part of the veneer. The place is basically a parking lot of mid-range winnies and itascas. No micros or westies, no tiny houses, no high-end conversions, no modded classic airstreams (who am I kidding, there were no airstreams of any vintage). Other than our rig, I didn't see a single PV panel. Our school bus conversion was almost certainly the nicest rig on the lot. Here's a hint: having a bunch of brand new, overpriced, midrange fiberglass / plastic RVs, crammed in like sardines, does not make you classy. It makes you tacky. And listen: I don't mean to judge people based on their rigs. I just think it's a little disingenuous for an RV park to claim it has high standards when really it is just trying to seem upscale. * Certainly no resort-level amenities warranting a $55 price tag. For $55, I expect KOA-level stuff: a couple of community fire pits, a club house, a baller playground, some organic gardens. This place had none of those things. Instead of a classy local-scape, it had over-watered lawns that were full of dog shit. Trashy. * OK, now the really bad part: the hookups were utterly amateur hour. The breaker in the power pedestal felt loose. The sewer (which we don't use; we have a composting toilet) had no hatch cover. And THE INSULATION WAS FLAKING OFF THE WATER LINE. This was obviously a practiced lie because many of the hookups around the park were like this and it looked like years of wear. Seriously, I've been to hundreds of RV parks around the country, and no matter how scummy and low-bar they may be, I've never seen this before. It was bad enough that we didn't want to let our 2-year old run around for fear that he'd touch either the insulation or the uncovered sewer. If this place were $30, I'd maybe stay if I were truly desperate. At $55, it's completely insane. Save your money and stay at one of the other nearby parks or even the rest area just south on I-5 - it's much better maintained than this creepy place. The only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1 is that, once I finally got into the shower, it was pretty decent. Good pressure / temperature. read more

We left our Airstream trailer here in their storage area for six nights to get it out of a heavy snow fall and it was broken into. The door locks were destroyed and personal property was stolen. The office at JGW did not even call us to tell us it had happened. They told us when we showed up to pick it up. Never again.....people can just drive around and look for empty trailers. I highly recommend you look elsewhere. There are many other great RV parks in town with great customer service and kind staff. I am sure many don't expect much customer service in the first place when booking at an RV park. However, do know that this place does not even have the bare minimum. If you are one day short of giving your 30 days notice, they will take your full deposit. They will tell you that they will subtract your final utility bill from it but WATCH your credit card statements because they will keep charging you. I don't recommend authorizing auto pay if you don't watch your accounts or they will continue to charge you for things you don't authorize. Be careful! Take your business over to Redding RV park and you won't be sorry. Don't worry, still a very short drive to the river from here. read more

This campground is mostly occupied by large trailers (guess that's what there is nowadays - for the most part you can either afford a huge honking two-storey motor home or trailer, or you stay home - I see few of the smaller variety any more...) Units are crowded pretty close together, but we stayed in the off-season and they don't shove everyone next to each other in one corner of the campground like some places do. Some really nice features about this place: - Down along the Sacramento River there's a nice grassy park area. - Nice bathrooms, with big shower stalls that allow you to keep your clothes dry. - Friendly staff. - Not noisy, at least while we were there. The main negative was the guy smoking nearby, whose smoke drifted right over to our site. I wish they'd have non-smoking areas in campgrounds.... River front sites are a few dollars more expensive. But then you have that nice green park right in back, as well as the river. JGW's is located near the end of a spur frontage road near I-5 so access is easy. It's only a few miles north on the freeway to Redding. read more

We stayed here for a week towards the end of June and found the RV Park very nice with plenty of shade trees. The pull thru site nicely accommodated our 70 ft. Coach & Toy Hauler Trailer. Victoria (owner's cousin) is most pleasant and the sweetest lady as the park rep. Based on this first experience we decided to stay one night on our way through Redding again. Our second time at this park was not so pleasant. Victoria was on days off and the site we were given had weak electrical breakers and kept overheating and shutting off. When we told the owner, he was downright rude, obnoxious and condescending! He told us the problem was not due too faulty electrical breakers at the park site we were assigned but our coach had electrical wiring issues causing the breakers to overheat and short out. In addition, all of us campers are stupid and none of us campers that come to his park have a clue about anything including most times how to operate our own coaches. Long story short, we hooked our coach up to another park site and had full power with no further issue. Park sites 67 & 68 have weak breakers that overheat and need to be replaced. Laundry facilities were disappointing too. Washing machines are for small loads and were dirty. Overall, the encounter with the owner took away all the appeal for this park. As long as you don't have to deal with the owner the park is great. If you do, drive the extra 30 minutes to Red Bluff and stay at the Durango RV Park - it is a fantastic, beautiful park other than it needs more shade trees!! read more

Tent sites are huge on nice glass on the river. The problem is the lumber mill across the river. The saws stop after dark, but the problem is that you can here the trucks beeping as they back up EARLY in the morning. I think it was about 5am. Other than that, it was good. The other campers were quiet and respectful. The showers by the pool are way nicer although they are old. The pool looked good, although we didn't have time to jump in. We can't wait to come here again. Its very pretty along the river, the space between campers is small but there's a bit of greenery between sites that makes it nice, each site has a picnic table. Different size spaces for different sizes rigs. The place is amazingly clean and the staff was wonderful! It was very busy during our stay but everyone was nice. Everyone seem to have a dog or 3, but all were on there best behavior and a leash, we were the ones with one dog and a big white Bird! The showers are super clean and large, our water heater went out in our rig so we had to use them allot! Not sure what is across the river but we heard a number of trains go by but in no way was it intrusive, just the lovely sound of a train whistle.. We plan on making staying here when ever we are in the area read more

We have stayed at JGW campground on many occasions. It has always been very clean and well maintained. The owners/ and staff have always been pleasant and gone out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We enjoy sitting on the grass, under the trees watching the river. First time here... Horrible experience with the people in the office. We had 3 spots reserved about 2 months ago and they were all river front next to each other. We got there they didn't give us the right spots and had 2 of us on 4 spots away and the 3 was on the other side of the park. The response was we were too busy and had to move you around. We said we didn't like it and the woman said "if you don't like it go to a different RV park." Thats is horrible. Nice grounds and clean. We are here in July in the middle of a heat wave it was 105 plus and they have a pool but no children under 4 are allowed in the pool. We have 14 month old and couldn't use the pool. Not infant friendly. We will never be back. read more

The park is great except for the break-in problem they have. My truck was broken into and approx $1300.00 worth of stuff stolen on last night of stay. I found out after that they had several other break-in that week. They did not warn us of this problem at check-in. They need to have some sort of roaming security at night to help stop this problem. read more
