Don't stay here. The managers are flaky tweekers and will keep your deposit. Only reason I picked this place was a lack of options

    Fawndale Oaks R V Park

    (10 reviews)

THE PARK. Fawndale Oaks RV Park is a lovely country park, up against mountains to the south and…read moreeast, nestled in a valley of gorgeous trees at the end of Fawndale Road. If you want to be removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet not too far removed, this is the park for you--residing about 10 miles north of Redding off the 5 Freeway. Adding to the feel of country are deer, wild turkeys, foxes, peacocks and pea hens, owls, other birds, and more. Today I saw a herd of wild turkeys coming into the park to munch on leaves and such and a lovely young buck meandering down a park road. The other day looking out a window in my trailer, I delighted in watching 2 does, each with 2 fawns, and a buck quietly passing the evening as they munched on a meal of greens. In addition to the wildlife, there are friendly pets in the park, like dogs and cats. A frequent, gentle, evening breeze coming from the southeast cools the park in warmer weather, which can be 5+ degrees cooler than the lower city of Redding. SURROUNDING ACTIVITIES. A quick jaunt up the 5 freeway takes you to Lake Shasta offering many Wonderland activities--like boating, fishing, water-skiing, swimming, tubing, wakeboarding, camping, hiking, hunting, and mountain biking. In addition to the lake area, Redding and the nearby City of Shasta Lake offer a variety of fun, interesting activities throughout the year. There is much to do, or you can just enjoy a quiet stay in the park. PARK MANAGEMENT. I value management that operates in exceptional professionalism, integrity and commitment to their customers--I have found that very true of the park managers, Shannon and Cary. They excel at setting up their park guests for success. I had no experience living in a camper trailer before coming to Fawndale Oaks RV Park. From before I arrived at their park to my being a month-to-month guest, they have provided me with the information and set up and ongoing support I needed to succeed at camper living. They also foster a community of respect and thoughtful living among the guests in their park and provide park security that gives one a feeling of safety in both the days and nights. AN ENJOYABLE STAY. Whether you are passing through Redding, visiting for a short time, or need a month-to-month place for your RV or camper trailer, you (adults and children alike) will enjoy the country-living atmosphere and friendly community of Fawndale Oaks RV Park. If you are an outdoor type, this rustic, country park is for you. I see people picnicking outside their trailers in the cool of the evening under the trees as I smell the barbeques making delightful food for them to enjoy. I see people walking down the park roads soaking in the country ambience and shade of the trees. A full-service park with some pull-through spaces and spaces surrounded by trees, you, I know, will enjoy your stay at this park. Shannon and Cary, two of the most delightful people, will welcome you.

At 9:15 we grabbed one of the several unoccupied spots, at 9:16 we were greeted by a cranky little fella that asked where we were headed. I replied here for the night . He told me "no your not, get out" . Keep in mind several campgrounds in the area are starting to look like meth villages with crappy rigs that the next time they will be moving they will be crushed in a dumpster. This one looked just above that level. We wound up at Boulder Creek right down the road with a nice tree lined spot, neighbors with nice rigs and 50 amp service. If a nice quiet place with no crabby older gentleman is on your bucket list, avoid Fawndale Oaks. I'm posting an image of our rig as I doubt the overall appearance had any thing to do with Fawndale's attitude

First bite I tasted vinegar, wondered if it was the chipotle mayo sauce. After two or three bites my stomach started churning. I had my brother try some on his finger, and his stomach flipped too. I brought it up to a server, who compt the plate (thank you) and told them to check their sauces, people can get sick fast. A few minutes later the cook came up to my table, didn't introduce himself, and jumped into telling me I was wrong, I wasn't sick, the sauce is fine. I responded by letting him know that my stomach is in ruins, the sauce tastes like vinegar, and I don't want others getting sick. That was just too hard for him to believe, so he left. And returned to my table in 30 seconds with his phone, to show me the AI Google Overview saying food poisoning doesn't happen that fast. I said It didn't matter what the AI said, I feel like trash now. He refused to believe me, continued to tell me I wasnt feeling sick, pointed to google again. So I lost my patience. I said "I don't give a sh*t what you *think* is happening, my stomach is in knots. There's nothing else to say, we're done here" He proceeded to tell me I was not welcome, that I was not welcome back, and it was because of my bad attitude and aggression. Needless to say, I'm gutted. This is my home town. I grew up in Lakeshore's pool and cabins and old arcade. Even after being away, I hold so many beautiful memories of being there, eating their food, singing karaoke, making passing friends in the cabins. I'm blown away at how quickly the cook was willing to alienate an entire table of locals, over his bruised ego. I do suspect some alcohol was involved in his behavior, as we noticed most of the staff grabbing drinks behind the bar during service. But I digress, it was fun until it wasn't, and then it got worse. Breaks my heart, but I no longer recommend this place to anyone. The server gals were kind and did their best with what they were given. But God forbid anyone have to feel like I do today.

We booked same-day by phone, and received a confirmation email with instructions for after-hours self-checkin. Lovely grounds with paved roads, concrete parking pads, and a landscaped picnic area for each site. If clean and spacious bathrooms matter to you, you'll love the ones here! We didn't stay to use the other resort amenities, though the pool area, social house and shaded path benches looked inviting. During the process, Cheryl communicated with me and kept me up to date on my space availability as I was waiting on the official start date for my new job. She told me she was putting me on a cooler side of the park with trees and that would be very helpful when the summer heat starts kicking in. Paul was very patient with this newbie while I was backing my trailer onto the pad. The sites are very clean, and the grounds are well kept. My two dogs love the little dog park, and we feel safe going for walks within the RV park. We were advised by others we spoke to be careful of walking on the road outside the RV park, but so far, I haven't seen anything on the main street that has caused me concern. Security within the park itself is very good. It's not too far from where I work. I do feel a bit guilty that I work on weekends and leave rather early in the morning. Quiet hours are in place at that time, and I try my best to not to disturb anyone, but I know my coming out of the door and starting up the truck makes noise. Fire pits were good too. The tent sites were SPACIOUS too I mean for my party of 6, we had 3 large tents with space & 2 trucks parked out of the way. Our site even had 2 benches. The shade provided by the trees was great, because as hot as it was, when we were present at our site we enjoyed relaxing underneath the shade. Front office staff were all very nice Saydra, Ricky & Whitney. All friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. There's also a campground store & grill. Grill food was fresh & bomb. Store part was great they carried a variety of things; ice, sunblock, water toys, camp lights, wagon, & so much more. They even have cute souvenir clothing, shirts, tanks, long sleeves, sweaters, hoodies, sun hats, sunglasses. The deck has great benches with umbrellas for shade with a great view of the lake. There's corn hole just have to ask for the bean bags. Mondays there's bingo. There's a pool 5ft. deep you have to leave a $20 deposit for the key at the front desk. Wood is cheaper here than at the Chevron. Campgrounds FAVE was the frosty (ice cream) Every morning when I went to use the bathroom, I witnessed staff cleaning the restrooms. So HUGE thank you to them for that. They even empty the trash bins throughout the day, through out the day you can catch someone on the golf cart roaming the campgrounds to make sure everything & everyone is good. There was always hot water, & cold water when needed. In the middle of the campgrounds there's a FUN playground with swings for the kids. There's even a basketball court & volleyball court too.
