Fresh Kind Kitchen - We made our own bowl, one vegetarian, the other not!

We were visiting Green Bay where we used to live looking for a place for lunch. As soon as we…read morewalked into this small restaurant, I knew I had been there before when it was something else! It is, as I already mentioned - small (about a half dozen tables for two). I'm guessing it is good (better) for takeout but we arrived just after 1:30 on a Thursday and had no problem getting a table. It is light, bright, and cheery inside. The two young women working behind the counter were very pleasant and patiently explained the options to us and all the customers who came in after us. There are about a half dozen "suggested" bowls but you can create your own or make changes to the ones in the menu. I ordered the Berbere Spiced Sweet Potato with almost all the colors of the rainbow represented - spiced sweet potatoes, radishes, carrots, Brussel sprouts, broccoli, dried cranberries, and green apples (I think I remembered everything). There is an option for an upcharge to add a protein but the vegetarian option was uncooked tofu and I only eat tofu that is well-seasoned and cooked so I passed. Hubby had the Lemon Herb Rotisserie bowl which he liked. Both were very filling and we couldn't finish them. Drinks range from Diet Coke to cold pressed juices. Great option for downtown Green Bay. Four stars because the (one) vegetarian protein option was not to my liking.

Fresh, quick and healthy. A number of suggested bowls available, or build your own! So many…read morechoices to pick from!

Always a great food experience here! Food it too notch, fast, and reasonably priced!…read moreWe went around usually the worst time to go to a restaurant, lunch time. But, here, it's not an issue. The waitress was right there, ready to take our order. My wife was asking the waitress which is better, the Haddock or the Smelt (their Friday Fish Special). Instead of trying to explain it, she went to the kitchen and brought out a small plate with both fish on it, so she could try them. That was unexpected, but greatly appreciated. She ended up getting the scallops with a baked potato, and she said it was fantastic. Most dinners come with the salad bar. I got the 2 egg, 3 meat omelette with 3 slices of their French toast, made with homemade bread. So good! Unfortunately, we filled up before we could get to pies. Fresh made! Lemon Meringue, Cherry, Berry (not sure), Apple and a few others. They also have low / no sugar pies (when they haven't sold out) which is especially nice, if you have a diabetic family member, like we do. Yes, it's a bit out of the way from Green Bay, and the trip back home feels longer when you're in a food coma, but it's so worth the drive!
