A fun moderate hike to see some beautiful waterfalls and views of the Cascades and Snoqualmie valley. As I mentioned in tips, probably easier and safer to park in the big parking lot, the smaller parking area to the east is also a school bus turnaround. The Tenerife falls are visible now, even from the I-90, just east of Mount Si. Now is a perfect time to see the falls as the snow melt is on. Lots of wild flowers and spring green along the way. Even got the chance to use some horse and snake whisperer training along the way. Lol An incident with a couple of horse riders heading up part of the trail, passing by, only to have one of the horses coming down the path alone, 15 minutes later, a little coaxing talk, and I was able to hold the horse till the rider caught up, back to the ride and my hike. Still my first spring in Washington, I've been happily surprised with the amount of garter snakes and with it warming up, more baby garter snakes crossing trails or just soaking up the sun, getting them to scurry off the trail out of harms way, is fun and a good excuse to take a short breather. Anyway, back to the trail, passing or crossing over streams, about a quarter way up you can start hearing the waterfalls, adding to the excitement of the beautiful hike. A fair amount of zig zags up the slope, some over a old landslide of rocks, which in the same area, a few trail workers were making the path better still. Thank you!! Beautiful views up the I-90 corridor, Mount Washington and Mailbox Peak. Arriving at the waterfall viewing area, you can see it from many different levels, just be careful as it's misty and muddy due to the amount of water falling. Well worth the hike, which should be good for at least a few more weeks, depending on weather. Not too bad during the week in the afternoon, as far as crowds, but I'm sure it's better to go early on the weekends. AllTrails was pretty accurate on this trail. Always amazed at how green it is! Happy Hiking! God bless and cheers! read more
