The Marine Corps Leadership Traits are the foundation of any Marine; earning respect and confidence from their fellow peers during the workday. This just doesn't cover life in the USMC, it transcends into civilian life as well. Justice, Judgement, Dependability, Initiative, Decisiveness, Tact, Integrity, Enthusiasm, Bearing, Unselfishness, Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty, and Enthusiasm. These are just some of the characteristics Marines strive to be. The owner of this company, Jay, and his team from motivated moving solutions, do NOT meet this standard. They fail miserably, and as a former Marine, it's disappointing to see other Marines taking advantage of others. I spoke with the owner regarding a move from Falls Church to Crystal City. They were to move a sectional sofa for $125. We agreed over the phone on the price. On the day of the move, two men arrived, (not the owner), to assist with moving the sofa. Unfortunately, I wasn't there, so my girl took the lead. We did add a couple of more things for them to do: we needed approximately ten boxes, a mattress and base spring moved to a bedroom one and a half floors up. The price agreed went up from $125 to $335, instantly, because of those added items. Robbery and pure Greed! My girl was frustrated. She had to haggle with these two guys in crystal city to lower the price. They finally agreed on $265 for the total cost of the move. Now, what kind of reputable company would allow someone to haggle the price down? A company that has no moral integrity; thats who. First, if you ever deal with this company (which you shouldn't) get the estimate in writing. If things should change, get it in writing. Second, I'd never want to believe a company managed by a former Marine would take advantage of a woman. But that's exactly what they did. I wasn't around and they bullied her and raised the price to benefit their own pockets. I'm really disgusted thinking about it. This company lacks the moral compass to succeed. They have no integrity, lack leadership, judgment, and are a bad representation of the United States Marine Corps. Jay, do the public and the nation of Devil Dogs a favor. Take down your company sign of an Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. YOU don't rise to our level and YOU are a black eye to our men and women in uniform. read more

Jay and his guys are fantastic. I contacted him just a few days before my move to help unload our Uhaul, as we're a two story walk up with lots of heavy furniture. He was super responsive and did the job on short notice. They made our move SO easy and had everything unloaded and in the apartment in about an hour. Best thing was that we have a pretty narrow staircase and narrow, winding hallway and there wasn't so much as a scuff on our fresh paint--I was really impressed. I recently used Jay's crew for a cross-town move from a townhouse to an apartment. Easy to setup and schedule, estimate was as expected (great pricing!) and final price paid matched the estimate. This is always a big plus!! I had a last minute request for some extra boxes as I scrambled and they were very accommodating and brought them. Everything went so smoothly for my move! I would highly recommend. They definitely knew what they were doing. I am giving 4 stars because I wish they had a more definite time for the move (8-10 AM) is kind of a big gap of time to potentially be waiting. I highly recommend this company. The movers were extremely hard-working, careful, diligent, and all had great attitudes. The move was a difficult one with lots of stairs and tight spaces (3 story townhouse to another 3 story townhouse), but the guys did an amazing job. The original quote was much higher than what we ended up being charged- the price we paid was such a good deal. Jay and his assistant are wonderful!! They responded immediately to my request on Thumbtack regarding relocating my gym equipment within my house for a very reasonable price. They came the following day. I had 3 gym pieces, one was an extremely heavy "home gym". They all needed to be moved into a newly finished and carpeted room. Jay and his assistant figured out quickly how to get the "home gym" through the double doorway (which was shorter than the "home gym "). They just lifted it up and got the job done. Really amazing! The moving crew was on site early, worked very quickly but carefully, took great care of my belongings, my floors, and my walls, and managed to fit an amazing amount of stuff in their truck. This being the first time I used movers, I was pretty confident that I was getting the best moving service when I saw the five-star Yelp reviews for Motivated Moving Solutions. And I am happy to report that those perfect reviews are oh-so-deserved. From the time I called for a quote to the time I signed the papers to sign off on the conclusion of the move, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Jay was the one I spoke to regarding the quote, and everything was clear and upfront. After sending an email to confirm that I would like to hire MMS (for my move that was in week's time!), I got a response accepting my request, complete with the names of my movers, TJ and Larry. There was a back-and-forth of emails, verifying details. On moving day itself, TJ and Larry came earlier than the time that was given me, which was no problem whatsoever since I did want to start as soon as possible. Both TJ and Larry were professional, friendly and just downright awesome! They were thoughtful in packing, loading and unloading all of my items. I had some of my cousins helping me unload, and with TJ and Larry, it was like just a bunch of friends helping another friend to move. :) I chose to pay via credit card, so I was required to sign off on some paperwork, and I was informed that I would be getting a call from MMS telling me that I should be expecting an invoice in my email. Sure enough, that same afternoon, I received a call and an email shortly after. Paying was a cinch, and spot on with the quote I was given by Jay. All in all, a great moving experience - I would definitely use MMS again! And oh, if you do use movers - helpful tip: have drinks (water, Gatorade, etc.) and food, if possible, handy. :) I know I'd really appreciate it if those were available while I was lugging around heavy things for hours on end! read more
